Highlights: #18 Minnesota Volleyball Takes Down #1 Texas

- The No. 18 Minnesota volleyball team defeated the top-ranked Texas Longhorns 3-2 (22-25, 25-19, 25-20, 13-25, 15-7) on Monday night at Fiserv Forum to conclude the State Farm Women's College Volleyball Showcase.
The win over Texas was Minnesota's first since 2017 and its first over a No. 1 ranked program since Sept. 14, 2019 against then No. 1 Stanford.

As a Texas fan, congrats to yall. Yall did really good and proved a lot of people that yall are better than last year. Definitely not an 18th ranked team

@@douglascody7431 we won’t be after this loss and that’s okay, we don’t need the number one pressure on us. Would rather get this loss out the way rather than losing in the post season. You must have forgotten why we were number one, let me remind you. We took down 3 #1 seeds to get the national championship. I seriously hope you aren’t a Nebraska fan talking like that

Minnesota coach is smart to give Shaffmastet the green light to be more offensive. It just adds one more thing for the defense to be worried about, opening up things for her pin hitters as well.

I’m a Minnesotan in Texas, and love the athleticism and how gel’d both the teams are. I often root for both, but Minnesota showed their much improved conditioning and poise throughout the games and a much deserved win. Ski-U-Mah!

DIEHARD Wahine fan, we know our volleyball and all I can say is wow, Ok! It’s been a tough few years for Minnesotas setter however she’s looking loose and is having fun on the court! she has new hitters a new coach and she is connecting flawlessly with her OH’s and middles,,,watch out for Minnesota! Wisconsin to #18, Minnesota to #6. Nebraska and Stanford at #1 and #2. I don’t think Louisville or Pittsburgh could beat Texas so I’d put Texas at #3 and Pittsburgh and Louisville to #4 or #5 interchangeably
@@kiaram8688 why on earth would you put Wisconsin at 18? Yes I understand they have 3 losses but, they were to ranked teams. I agree with Nebraska at number one but Stanford at 2? Nah I would put Louisville. Stanford at 3 Pitt at 4 then Texas at 5. And then so on
@@WhitneyGadison1 I personally don’t think Wisconsin should be even be in the top 10. They’re short an outside hitter. Don’t really care where they fall to but Minnesota deserves number 6 over them. There’s no world where Pittsburgh or Louisville beat Texas so Texas at #3. Stanfords defense is excellent and no one is beating Kami Miners accuracy, she’s coming for that LA28 spot. Pittsburgh and Louisville can fight over 4 and 5 but they always choke when it counts so it doesn’t really matter. We’ll see if Louisville can beat Stanford during their conference play but they run a 6-2 and neither of their setters are great.
@@kiaram8688 to a extent, I sorta agree with you but I don’t think Minnesota will be a top ten team, at least not 6 and I don’t think Texas will get the third spot but in all honesty, rankings really don’t matter and it shows

Most of the top coaches don't really care about rankings this early, and most of them don't mind at all if their teams struggle early on. That's why they always schedule tough early.

OK seems to me Texas got out coached and replacing Swindle as the main setter seems to have messed with the chemistry of the team besides with her height she needs to be in for her blocking ability.Having said that I know Jerrits a great coach perhaps we (TEXAS)are not quite as good as I thought yes I know only 2nd game of the year
I feel like Jenna shouldn’t play back row. She is still struggling with service received. They could run a 6-2, but I would rather have 2 OPP because… Swindle is a better blocker and defeéne. But, Averi has better hands to set and don’t have the best connections with Madi especially
