Got cut off. You guys rocked like punk stars, sweaty steamy mess in there then crowd surfed out of Father Luke's Room. I was hooked from that night on and shared the love of your music with my wife and kids. I finally drug my wife to the Edgefield and she was like"WTH is this? A few guys with a banjo, acoustic guitar and a stand up bass. Blew her mind that night. We've seen you there many times, Salen and Bend. Yes we were there the night you had to cancel and the night before. Made it back for the make-up show in September. And you played Black Hole Sun not long after Chris died. It's always exciting when Seth pulls out the electric guitar. You made cry that night in the front row in Bend. Rock on!
Just found my new favorite Avett Brothers song
The Gleam albums have another layer of feeling and passion that their other albums just don't seem to capture. Just 2 brothers, singing about the stark reality in which they live and observe around them. And the entire time I listened, the simplicity of the melody only accentuated the poetry and lyrics they were singing. This is true artistry, bringing in people to hear a perspective in a compelling manner. Was coming to see you in Red Rocks this month, but was canceled. Will see you soon! We were also supposed to see them the last night at Red Rocks, this summer. After seeing them in my home state of Montana, four days before. Hopefully next summer, we can experience the surreal ness of the Avetts at Red Rocks, once again. ❤️

Gorgeous, gentlemen! “Broomgrass” seems like it’s from another time - a more innocent and simpler time. And I love how that is contrasted with a powerful, personal grappling with mental and spiritual health. Whew! There is a lot to take in, and I’m sure this English teacher still won’t fully understand it. Like most of your songs, I’ll probably just listen to it 4,000 times in a row and tuck it away in my heart knowing I’ll never fully understand it. Can’t wait for the whole album!

This song has and will always have such a special meaning for me and my best friend. She had just lost her brother after a 4 yr battle to pancreatic cancer. She needed a day of release so we drove out to a little lake on a beautiful fall day in Chicago and I played this song for her. It became our song for Chris; her brother who had just passed away. Thank you for this beautiful song; it touched a very special moment in both of our lives. We continue to play it over and over again; and it finds so much comfort to both us. ❤️❤️❤️

The Avett Brothers music fills every moment with celebration, comfort, and sincerity. I heard for the first time just two days ago after learning our in utero baby had died. I have so many bands and artists that I idolize, and you guys are EASILY in my top 5. I have been listening to your music now for over a decade, ever since I discovered you with “I and Love and You” back in 2009. I was in middle school when I first heard your beautiful music and I instantly fell in love. As someone who dealt with bullying in that part of my life, you got me through. Going forward, albums like “The Carpenter” and “Magpie and the Dandelion” helped me navigate my insecurities through high school. I am now in my early twenties and your songs are still as meaningful to me today as they were back then, maybe even MORE so now. I still have my own bag of issues and insecurities to deal with but thank you for being there with me musically. Because of you I play music and write songs. Your beautiful and simple melodies and sincere lyrics inspire me endlessly. I would not be the man I am today without you. You helped raise me up and for that I am forever grateful. I love you guys so much! Can not wait for the third gleam!
