- Getting a good start in ARK can be tricky and it's easy to get overwhelmed. In this video I share a simple strategy to help you stay focused and get the great start in ARK that you deserve!

If you're playing the island spawn south side get a few recourses, level up and then unlock the raft. When you have the raft unlocked ride it to herbivore island (bottom right of the map) and farm your metal there with absolutely no danger from carnivores. You can also collect experience nodes when you're there which will level you up a lot faster. Then tame a few dinos and then eventually a flyer (Pteranodon) you can explore further from there. It will make your experience a lot easier/better. Good luck!

Some extra early game advice, make some bola.
Something attacks you that you can't kill easily, tie it down with the bola and then deal with it.
Also helps with knocking out dinos for tame.

Early tip never throw away your charlcole because you’ll need it for tranq darts and bullets

My personal order of operations are: Pick - Axe - Campfire - Chest.
Then get as much materials as you can, shove everything in the chest, and level enough to get a bola and bow/arrow. After that, you're allowed to explore.

Me a 2000h pvp play: pick, hatchet, 50 wooden boxes, boat with argy trap, swamp for chitin, cook metal make metal base, rush turrets

Why don't you play ark survival ascended
I did pick it up last year and played it a bit, but ran into repeated crashes for days on end, so I decided to set it aside for now until it stabilizes, there's more map content out, and there are more mods that helped make my ARK SE experience so memorable. SE is just a far more mature product, and honestly I didn't see the point playing a half-baked ASA experience on The Island without the mods and with stability issues. It looks better, sure, but for the moment I'm keeping a wait and see attitude. Hopefully WC can get their act together on ASA and then I'll give serious thought to switching and not looking back. Until then, SE is still a load of fun for me. :)

@@diaakanaaneh Oh yeah, for sure. It's crazy how much faster The Island loads, and the visuals are better. I love ARK, so I always want to see it do better. We'll see how it goes. :)

Argi is kinda broken imo. Ark is 2 different games (especially on island which should be most people's first map) pre-Argentavis and post-argentavis. Literally the only things that are even a challenge anymore with argi are those dumb things in the redwood forests that ambush you from trees and seem to appear by magic and be unblockable.
Absolutely agree that Argies are game changers. When they level way up, their carrying capacity definitely seems skewed, especially with a stacking mod in play. If you’re a veteran player that’s happy to skip the grind of ferrying metal back and forth with an Argie then this is great, but for newbies it almost eliminates the effort curve for resource collection. I usually use my Argy to carry an Anky back and forth (unless there’s a safe spot to leave the Anky near the metal etc), and it works great.
@@SunGodPresents Yep I do the same thing. I carry an Anky to the top of the mountain in the redwoods biome and when you are not using it you can put it on passive and leave it on the very top and nothing can get to it. Just don't approach the mountain from the East. You will get jumped by those stupid thylas. But I find they never attack when I come from the south and west.
