Cheers Sam interesting info here. Does this only apply to the 3090 or any of the other newer cards from Nvidia? Also is there a reason as to why you select 32bit rather than 64?
It'll apply to any Nvidia card if you're having issues with C4D and OpenGl. Don't worry about 32bit vs 64bit, this has nothing to do with your OS type, it's purely about data type.
Hi. I already wrote something here. But it's not really related. (Btw … if you remember it: I could not solve the issue with the GPU … had to replace it … seems like a common issue with the Razer Blade that GPU overheating can happen and damage the GPU. ). Anyway. I now have a 4090 + a 2080ti. The 2080ti i connected via an eGPU. And as soon as the eGPU is connected, Cinema always wants to use the 2080ti as navigation GPU, instead of my in build 4090. I did the selection in the NVIDIA Control Panel (4:02) for Cinema 4D and even in the Global Settings. But Cinema still uses 2080 instead of 4090. Only way to solve it would be to unplug the 2080. Doeas you (or someone) knows what could cause that?
O.k. for those who are curious: I found the problem. It seems that Win11 overrides some settings wich are made in the NVIDIA Control Panel. Windows has its own graphics settings, wich GPU should be used (seems to connect to some power management eco-settings). If you know it, its simple. Go to System > Display > Graphics > Standard (or choose user defined options for apps to change it individually) PS: I have a non English Win-version … so maybe you'll find a bitt different names for that menu.
It did help solve my problem but cinema 4d started feedbacking error during renderings, not exactly when I start to render but mid render, I use V Ray. The error only says I can find the bugery data in certain location and when I go there, the things are not any to many and I can't even navigate

My camera viewport in C4D is getting stretched (sideways), but the GUI still looks fully normal with all icons and everything.. No other software have these issues, it only happens in C4D. Restarting Cinema solves this, but it is very annoying. I have done these changes know, just about to restart.. hope this solution helps for me also. Thanks!
@@DIGITALMEAT Unfortunately it didn't help with my C4D problems. My viewports in R21 gets stretched sideways, while the GUI stays normal (all menu items, texts etc. look normal, only the viewports that gets this stretch..). And no other softwares fail at the same time, I can go in to Photoshop (or whatever) and everything works like normal there, while C4D has this stretch "active".. so this is only connected to Cinema 4D. This happens randomly, but a few times a week. A restart of C4D solves the problem temporarely, but it would be nice to find out and solve what what is causing this. I believe it is something related to my graphics card (NVIDIA QUadro RTX4000). My GPU drivers are updated, but problem still exists.

Definitely monitor related for me.

What renderer are you using? This matters because depending on the renderer, you could be using the CPU or the GPU. In any case, here's my opinion. It absolutely baffles me why people continue to do serious 3D work on Laptops and note books, particularly rendering. You have all these components packed into a small space, with not much airflow when compared to a desktop. I very much suspect that the reason renders take ages, is because as the components heat up, they are being "thermal throttled" by the system to prevent over heating. In the case of a shut downs, the thermal throttling wasn't enough maybe?
@@DIGITALMEAT I was trying to render with the standart render, i just discover that i need a GPU render, and the thing about notebooks, i live in Brazil, here a good PC is REALLY expensive, almost the price of a car, so that why i use a notebook, i holpe one day i can afford a good PC.
I don't know who to ask, help. I'm a beginner in the world of 3d, so pure ignorance. I started rendering to see the results, out of curiosity I went to check how much cpu and gpu the laptop was using, and I noticed that the gpu is used less than 10% and the cpu at the maximum if not more. My rtx 2080 ti fried itself five minutes after making these changes, I was using c4d redshift. Might be conincidental might not but thought it was worth mentioning.
That wouldn't be to Timeout Detection and Recovery, and is most probably related to hardware, either not thermal throttling properly, or a power supply issue. what exactly do you mean by "Fried"? Did it overheat and die, is it now bricked?
@@DIGITALMEAT yea fried, just blew, system woukdnt reboot with it on the board. One of the techs got it running with heavy artifacts and pixelation on the screen but the os wouldn't load it

I have a build in 2070 q-Max and a 2080Ti via an eGPU in my Razer Blade 15 (2019). Since a few days it keeps hanging on a 2070 bucket (i think) after around 20-40 frames of rendering. (Redshift) Seems like Cinema stops beeing executed on the 2070 cause it's also no longer listed in the NVIDIA-Activity-Monitor. When i try to stop the rendering cinama freezed. When i than try to stop cinam (via Task Manager) my whole system freezes. I reinstalled everything (Windows, Cinema), updated BIOS and every driver. And still that issue appears. I am very curious if your tut may help. I'll test it out now and will write asap. Just want to share the info.

Tks for all this saved hours in my life!!
Thanks for this, Sam!
I'm guessing it worked out for you?
Thank you so much it helped!!
OMG You are such an angel! Thank you❤
That's very kind, thanks!
thx a lot it solved my unusable redshift license ! :)
This works with a rtx 2060 with the same values?, thanks
Thanks for sharing!!!
Go to System > Display > Graphics > Standard (or choose user defined options for apps to change it individually)
PS: I have a non English Win-version … so maybe you'll find a bitt different names for that menu.
It did help solve my problem but cinema 4d started feedbacking error during renderings, not exactly when I start to render but mid render, I use V Ray. The error only says I can find the bugery data in certain location and when I go there, the things are not any to many and I can't even navigate
This is very helpful !
Thanks for this! I have a Quadro RTX 4000 graphics card. I randomly get weird issues in C4D R21 myself.
Thanks!
Fingers crossed!
@@Tennet3D - This sounds like an issue for either Maxon Support, or Nvidia Support I'm afraid.

So I tried it but it seems not the right solution for my problem, espacially for R25 the crashes here are enormous when using scene nodes....since R23 only crashes and freezing
Yeah, that sounds more like a Cinema 4D Issue 😥, I've heard the last few versions aren't very stable.
Thanks for the tutorial. Something happens to me that I don't know how to change: when I access the registry and change the values to decimal in 60 and I accept, when I open them again I get the old hexadecimal3C value. I have rebooted as you say and still the same.
That's fine, it's just displaying the decimal value of 60 in hexadecimal.

So without making any changes at all to anything, I first tried using this on my 165hz 2k monitor and had really bad issues including lots of flickering from the Viewer, but as soon as I drag the window to a different monitor which is a (cintiq 60hz 1920x1080) the problems disappear instantly. Definitely monitor related for me.

I'm having problems to render, i have a notebook with a GTX 1050TI, 16 RAM and a intel core i7-7700hq and for some reason everytime i try to render something simple it takes a very long time and if is something a little more complex it complety freezes my pc and need to do make a hard restart, what could it be? is my machine to weak?
Could you explain to me how to solve it?
That would indicate to me that you are using a CPU renderer, not a GPU based one. What renderer are you using?

(Redshift)
Seems like Cinema stops beeing executed on the 2070 cause it's also no longer listed in the NVIDIA-Activity-Monitor.
Hm … unfortunately it freezes again after 19 frames (evry frame ca 20 seconds of rendering).
This time whole system freezes directly without even going through the task manager.
@@bodobanali - As your GPU disappears from the NVIDIA Activity Monitor, this sounds like it's not a Cinema 4D issue, there maybe something wrong with your machine.
Or, it could be that your not supplying enough power to your GPUs, have you checked the power requirement?
@@DIGITALMEAT You were right … Seems like the GPU was indead so overheated that it got destroyed. Had to replace it.

@@bodobanali - Thank god! It baffles me why artists insist on doing rendering work on laptops, you're just asking for trouble.
Hello, I have an Asus zenbook pro duo laptop, which has a second monitor on the lower part of the laptop above the keyboard. The GPU is a 2060 + intel core i9.
When i first open the program, it wants to open onto my smaller lower screen. When it does this, all of the functions work properly, yet who wants to work on a 3D software on the smaller screen LOL. But, when i drag the program up to my main screen everything seems to function properly until i try to click any of the options on the top toolbar such as "file". This automatically crashes the program.
I do not know if this is a GPU/ dual monitor issue and I am unsure of how to fix it :(
Again, it seems I am able to model and work when i bring it to my main larger screen, but if I wanted to save my file for example I would have to drag the screen back down to my lower screen in order to access the "file" tab.

All physics simulations are carried out on the CPU, and as far as I'm aware they are not multithreaded calculations (meaning that only a single core is used).
1200 polygons is a lot for Softbody simulations for various reasons I won't get into, instead do the simulation on a low poly object and put that object in a subdivision surface, or check this video out.
