The country that is the very best in efficient water usage, water recovery and reuse, lowest water loss in the water systems (i.e. pipe leaks and evaporation) and water saline and brackish ground water desalinization is Israel. We could learn from them. As bankers you should understand that people in Israel pay much closer to the real price of water so people, cities and companies conserve water very well and Israeli agriculture is way ahead of everyone. We need to bite the price bullet while being sure everyone can get water they really need. So surprised Bankers not discussing this issue.

When he says 80 years ago in the beginning is he referencing the Colorado River Compact?

All of Arizona's "native" water resources are not sustainable at Arizona's current size. It was the introduction of the colorado that allowed Arizona to grow beyond its "native" water resources... Thinking we have water availible in the salt / verde systems is foolish to say that it could sustain our current usage.

Farmers are not needed in a desert when you can import for way cheaper nowadays

Arizona farmers use 74% of the water for 1.7% of the gdp.

Nuts ! The desert can only support so many people. Greed is the main reason for the over population in this state. Greed the quest for for mammon. In other words money and power! Right now theirs not enough water!
