I agree. Contemporary dance is a very beautiful and complex form of artistic expression. It is very vast and extremely intricate. One must learn from the right masters and only then will they absorb the nuances of the dance form, which takes years. It is cringeworthy when people do whatever, add a few basic elements of contemporary dance and call it a contemporary choreography. Even worse is when they try to teach something they do not understand. I agree with all that you said in this video. It's frustrating to see someone misrepresent an art form that you are passionate about, and dedicate your life to. It's disrespectful. Just like your other video was to classical dancers. If that video is not disrespectful, then people misrepresenting contemporary dance is also not disrespectful. It's just all fun and a guide for common folk.
A little late to the party but I appreciate that you're sharing your view points on how not to portray contemporary dance. I think it's a beautiful dance form and it definitely needs better representation, but I think I and the rest of this comment section also agrees that we would appreciate some alternatives to these dance moves in contemporary form. Like an "expectations vs reality" kind of video?
I usually dont like to be negative. But you need to know, your video on classical dance is out right horrendous. We feel worse than what you are feeling. Stick to whatver u feel is Contemprary don't get into Indian classical without proper training. 🙏
I agree. I just made a comment about this. If bad contemporary dance makes him cringe, he should have realised that bad classical dance is disrespectful to classical dancers. I don't see how the hypocrisy did not sink in. The dissonance is astounding. He respects his own art form and makes this video which is no less than a rant to defend his art form from misrepresentation, while misrepresenting other art forms himself.
