well....here we go swifties, we're back in nonsense land where truly anything can happen.....and this time what's happening is 1989 Taylor's Version. This is surely set to be a monumental next step in Taylor Swift's re-recordings project, with five incredible tracks that she can't believe haven't seen the light of day until now....these are my thoughts on potential collaborations (harry styles, katy perry, perhaps?) and an analysis of all the vault tracks we know to exist.

I just think that it’s really interesting that 1989 TV is the first album cover where Taylor is smiling. Like considering the things she went through during the original 1989 era it’s kinda symbolic how she reinvented herself

I feel like she has set herself up perfectly for the 1989 tv release to be a huge deal, bigger than red tv was. If these vaults are as good as she says, there could be multiple songs with anti-hero/shake it off levels of popularity. I also think after the success she would be in the perfect position to do a social media black out after the Singapore shows and do a full moment for rep tv. It would be iconic, especially then after all this success and grandeur to end it all off with debut tv.

On the Taylor Swift mania: I wonder how Taylor feels about the fickleness of the public. She seems to love the love she's been receiving from everyone right now, but she must know that a lot of the people participating in the Taylor Swift mania are the same people who participated in her cancellation (not gatekeeping in any way just interesting to me). The shift between public perception in the reputation to the Eras Era is a super fascinating pop culture phenomenon to me. It also makes me wonder if this influx of new Swifties is going to last.
A part of me wonders if this is why she didn’t have Reputation next on the list of re-releases. She’s re-releasing the album from her initial peak of success during her most recent peak of success/public perception, but I’ve noticed we usually see this before a wave of hate or disregard comes before a celebrity…idk tho.

I am SO EXCITED for 1989 TV. 1989 got me through lots of big changes in my life and Clean has become so important to me as I’ve gotten sober (celebrated 3 years last month). However, 1989 totally feels like a summer album, so it baffles me that it’s coming out at the end of October

I remember the 1989 era so incredibly clearly; out of every single album she’s released I have the most intense and vivid memories from 1989 by a mile. All of the media speculation about her jumping into pop and if she could even manage it, her aesthetic rapidly changing, etc etc… then hearing the album in full for the first time ever and realizing she just created one of the best pure pop albums of our time. I’m a RED vault girly, but I’m downright positive that 1989 is going to go straight to the top when it’s released 🩵

I am SO excited for 1989. I also have this big fear with how many people are now watching and obsessing over her with the success of The Eras Tour. It feels eerily reminiscent (to the ump degree!) of the oversaturation she had in 2014-2016. I don't want to live through a Cruel Summer like that again and I'm sure she doesn't either lol I hope this is a sweet reliving of all those good memories.

I think the main thing keeping her from over saturation is that she isn’t really “in the mix” (with other celebrities/ dating/ promo) like she was then. If she goes full 1989 mode, I can see the media jumping on her again and pulling out the same things from 2016. It almost happened with Matty

I’m both the most excited for 1989 and absolutely terrified. Her previous albums were mostly live instruments and this was modern pop-production. So I’m terrified it’s going to be butchered. I’m SO excited for the vault and I honestly have such high hopes for this project overall.

1989 was such a complicated era. It was regarded before as Taylor's most successful era. Taylor was celebrated as the girl who won music awards left and right, leader of a girl squad who will "always have her back", in love with a "hot" boyfriend who's name I don't remember now. But everything is always not what it seems specially with these celebrities. As she was having the best time in her career, her personal life is on the verge of falling apart. She has eating disorder, some of her friends are not really her true friends and let us not forget what that boyfriend did at her "down fall". I really love the 1989 album because it's the album where that country girl who everyone doubted transitioned to be a pop star. She proved that music is universal and that her strongest suit as an artist is being a songwriter who can create these masterpieces that transcend music genres. That's why I'm so thankful that we can relive this era again. Maybe this time as successful as superstar Taylor Swift is seen by the world, Teffy Alison Swift is living her best life when she gets off that stage.
I hope we get some more B-sides from Taylor working with Imogen Heap! I've always been a huge fan of her (especially when 1989 came out) and immediately sniffed out that she co-wrote Clean. The plunky synths, her breathy background vocals - it was all quintessential Imogen. Especially now that Imogen has kinda slowed her music making the past few years, I'm hoping this might help to reintroduce her to a new audience
This comment just made me remember that I really want a new Imogen Heap record and I'm not sure if that'll ever happen.
That's the good thing about being a Taylor Swift fan. You never have to wait too long for new music. But with artists like Imogen Heap, Lorde, Kate Bush, or Fiona Apple... you're waiting over a decade for a new album, and while they're always worth the wait, I do still wish they'd come faster.

My favourite album is 1989 even though I've supported Taylor since the beginning of her career. I don't love it because I'm basic, I love it because it's one of the only albums I've ever heard that combines excellent lyricism with dance-ability. It's like Lorde's Melodrama.
I'm almost certain she has planned the tour dates around the release dates of the remaining rerecordings (rep and debut) and then follow up after a well-deserved vacation and chillout for a brand-new album. I went to Santa Clara night 2 and I distinctly remember "You Don't Own Me" playing so ominously with the countdown before she got on stage. She chose that track for a reason. She's going to take back everything she wrote and played since the start of her journey.💖

Okay. Quick Hot Take. 10/27 is the anniversary for the orginal version of 1989. I looked and she does not have a concert scheduled for that day. But I am sure her concert in Argentina on 11/09, a country she has never toured before, will be epic and one to remember! Her dresses 👗 last night were spectacular! And I 💙 the new album cover. I will be buying in person on 10/27 at my favorite record shop.

What if she does more editions like she did with Midnights (Standard, 3AM, Lavender, Til Dawn, and exclusive CD)? And those would have the Bad Blood Kendrick Lamar remix, possibly This is what you came for, Sweeter than fiction, etc. Sidenote: I absolutely love Taylor but truly hate that there are zero versions of Midnights that have everything - like I don't need all 13 tracks five times just to get some additional songs, I want them ALL but once!
Love the video! I love the TV cover as it’s something new and fresh but for me, the original 1989 cover will always have my heart. I prefer having an actual Polaroid cover instead of just the white outline and I thought having her face cut off made the cover more “mysterious” in a way 😅 I saw someone say that this cover gives NY Hampton instead of NYC and I can kinda see the vision for that. I do think this was taken at the RI house

Some people who complain that her portrait is not half-covered like the original forgot that in 2014 when she asked about why she never smiles on her cover, she said that she is insecure about her smile and wanted to bury the real emotion in the album. The fact that 1989 tv is the first time she truly smiles on all of her album's covers tells me that she is ready to reclaim this era to be truly about her happiness in all of shapes and forms. It's so poetic.

I agree with this, like I thought 1989 would have a smaller vault track simply because of the idea of what 1989. I would’ve been surprised if it was more than six. With reputation, I think it’ll either have a small amount too, or she’ll be bigger. It’s hard to tell with that one. And with debut, I can see it either having a smaller vault as well, or it’s going to have the biggest vault track since it’s the last re-recording she’s doing she can go crazy with it.

I'm so excited, 1989 is the album that made me a stan. It's funny that you mentioned the critics said her emotive writing style was neutered in this album because I heard Out of the Woods as a non-Swiftie with zero context about what or who it was about and it brought me to tears the first listen.
She managed to convey everything she needed to in that one song and it made sense immediately in my brain and I saw and understood the vision. Immediately after that I heard AYHTDWS and the tears kept flowing. She made emotive, powerful songs that were still able to be pop bangers to shake ass to.
My thoughts on the vault tracks are the same as yours. There are only 5 because she's picked the HITS. She is trying to blow us away. She wants to keep the conciseness of the original album and the 'sonic cohesion' lol.
Most excited/scared for OOTW and Style... I will die if they're not perfect. I have a scary feeling she will botch them but I might just be paranoid for nothing. As for features... I kinda want zero features. It's only 5 tracks and I want them all to be Tay. But I can almost guarantee she'll have at least 2. Also I would LOVE at least 3 music videos! I want sexy, girl-boss, slinky Taylor coming to serve.

When you think about it, the hype and excitement in the fandom for SN and 1989, albums that have already been released, is really extraordinary. This am, 1989, sold 300K units (it took Midnights a week to do 200K) - that is phenomenal. Just when you think there is now where higher she can get… it’s good though there is a break before next leg of tour, and next 1989 drop. Allows everyone to take a deep breath, and not risk her from being overexposed.
i am so excited for this album! my favorite taylor album changes depending on my mood, the time of year, and a bunch of other factors, but 1989 is always up there. i already preordered the vinyl and the aquamarine green cd. i’m really nervous for wtny and ayhtdws because i wouldn’t be surprised if those were messed up.
also, did you see that karlie kloss was at the show last night??? apparently she had to sit in the crowd not vip, but then tree moved her.

i think can say with confidence that wtny is probably going to be the best rerecorded song on 1989 (taylor’s version) if not her whole discography. There are a lot of rerecorded songs that she didnt put as much effort and emotion into because they didnt resonate with her anymore, but i think that wtny is one that she still probably connects with so i can imagine her putting in a lot for this song. also, her voice is a lot different now and i feel like wtny’d sound a lot better with her voice now than how it was when she actually recorded the original. while the original is amazing, i feel like her voice has improved and the bridge is gonna hit so fucking hard if it’s not straining like that.
Wildest Dreams, and This Love TV are both so accurate to the stolen versions, I think it will be good! Do you think she will change the cover of those songs to the new one? I hope

1989 was the era i became a dedicated fan, im extra excited for this one for this reason....i keep second guessing my guesses on what songs will be bungled, due to how much she hyped up this re-record in her accouncment post....SO EXCITED

i saw someone clowning about how if there’s only one vault track collab that‘ll be proof that the 1975 were cut from the record and that there were originally supposed to be 6 vault tracks. they discredited that theory in the same breath though because of how long vinyl production can take and the math probably isn’t mathing out.

After the shit Taylor got for dating Matty, a collab is probably not happening if I'm honest. Actually the interesting thing about this is a lot of people theorize 1989 TV originally had a Collab with the 1975 but, due to backlash Taylor faced for dating him, they scrapped it, hence why 1989 has 5 vault tracks, not 6. Cause Red TV has 6 vault tracks (Better Man, Nothing New, Babe, Message In A Bottle, I Bet You Think About Me, ATW10), Fearless TV has 6 vault tracks (You All Over Me, Mr. Perfectly Fine, We Were Happy, That's When, Don't You, and Bye Bye Baby), and Speak Now TV has 6 vault tracks (Electric Touch, When Emma Falls In Love, I Can See You, Castles Crumbling, Foolish One, and Timeless).
@@serena9889 it’s a thing i really like to keep in mind. there not being a vinyl for something is a pretty good indicator that a decision was made within the last three months. when she released til the dawn or whatever it was called that was a red flag to me. i‘m pretty sure that everything on that version was more or less rushed. like maybe she was in talks with lana about sotb prior to the matty healy - ice spice situation and she was working on ylm but then rushed it out with the karma remix for pr purposes when people were tearing apart matty healy. this is all alledged and i don’t know what happened in what order but at least one thing on that version was rushed to put out and that’s why the vinyl came out so much later.

i’m so excited for the vault tracks but also a little nervous that she’s saying they’re insane. i don’t doubt that they’re going to be good, but she’s setting the bar extremely high and i feel like bc of that some people will be extremely disappointed if there is a song that doesn’t live up to how she’s described them
