They're both great moments for their own reasons. In the case of Power Rangers, it's a clever sarcastic line, showing how shamelessly evil the White Ranger is. In Abaranger, it sets the key theme of the battle: Ryoga trying to reason with Abarekiller, and realising that he's dealing with a person who's way of thinking is completely alien to him, someone who see morals as just arbitrary rules. It's two different flavours of evil: The Classic Villain and The Sociopath.

I dunno. Both the US and JPN version seem cool equally. Original version is a lil more edgy and has more scenes that I like, though US version is a good adaptation and like how it did its own thing with dialogue and some new scenes there and there. Disney did good here.

I kinda like how they make the American White Ranger a bit more self-aware in addition to his sadism. Not to mention they made "Rampage Mode" a power up the Rangers get later on. Of course, Nakadai had his moments of self-awareness, was a bit more mysterious, and his death scene was very poignant later on.
When you realize that your childhood show is your 3 year old self watching the Sentai version, hence why you somehow like Dino Thunder so much and why you questioned why there wasn't any blood in that fight.
I've always liked the fact that I could watch either and enjoy them for different reasons. Mega Ranger/Power Rangers in Space was a good example of almost having the same story but slightly adjusted to fit the region while Zyuranger/Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was a good adaption with completely different stories going on while still being able to use the characters and footage skillfully.
Power rangers in space's story literally had nothing to do with Mega Ranger. Which was a big problem during production and a reason why Saban almost cancelled the season (even when it was supposed to be the last one because of Turbo's low ratings) So production had to alter the Sentai footage a lot and film a lot of new scenes about space while using costumes and monsters from previous seasons they already had to save money Basically, because there was no money and the series was supposed to get cancelled anyway Saban let the In space team be as creative and have as much freedom as they wanted And that's how In Space was able to gain a lot rating, became one of the most beloved seasons and saved the franchise while also giving conclusion to the Zordon era, succeeding when all the odds were against it
I know Disney went to New Zealand for lower production costs, but you gotta admit, some of that country's nature looks so similar to Japan that it makes the merging of footage almost seemless, especially compared to Mighty Morphin in the desert, to the grassy mountains in the Zyuranger footage (I'm pretty sure Japan has no deserts, lol).
Great video. If I hadn't watched them side by side, I wouldn't have realized how much of the Dino Thunder fight was originals footage. Granted, it makes sense now (censorship to lessen the intensity of the fight), but what I like about Dino Thunder is how seamlessly they managed to mix Abaranger and original footage.
One thing I liked about Dino Thunder was that the production team actually TRIED to make the american footage look like the japanese footage. Do you remember back in season 2, when we would see a monster stand in front of a grey, industrial area, and then switch to the Rangers standing in a sunny park? Censorship and acting aside, the US team did a GREAT job editing the scenes for Dino Thunder. Sure, the Sentai version of this scene has a bit more violence, but the only thing that is dragging the US version down is James Napier's acting. I remember back when the show aired. Everyone LOVED it, but agreed that Napier was a terrible actor and destroyed every scene that he was in.
Also DT's story, rangers, villains far exceed any other power ranger series versions. The MM was great and all but I love this series version more. And tbh people keep comparing and saying the sentai series is better and the American version is crap but in DT's case I prefer it more imo

Being a kid who grew up on the american power rangers, it was very cool to see this. A lot more drama in the original version, might even go back and try to watch some Super Sentai series.
If you really want to start Super Sentai really start from the beginning. I recommend Goranger. I think there isn't enough people that are supporting the first Super Sentai Series. Thats a good place to start.
Don't start with Goranger. Sure, it's worth a watch...but don't START there. It's really long, really dated, really slow, and lacks a lot of what makes sentai sentai. It's worth it though to see where the series came from.
Well you know what thats the kind of stuff I hear all the time when I listen to Heisei era Kamen Rider fans bashing and saying "well those Showa era Riders look weird and dinky where's their power-ups?" Look there's some great history from not just Goranger but from Denjiman, JAKQ, and Battle Fever J those had great music and cast during their time. Respecting these shows and understanding its history is what makes Sentai so great. Now some could say that to others like Ultraman who had years of ups and downs but thats a different thing.
Conner was hot headed who doesn't give a damn but himself while Ryoga cares more for people, that's why he was pissed in Episode 34 on why Dr Nakadai didn't listen to Ryoga's warning about his Dino Minder and Ryoga got tired of Killer's dangerous games for Dezumozorlya.

The sound quality (and specific selection of sound effects used) in the U.S. version is much more clear (less muffled), more ambient and rich-sounding, and more believable....... well... at least according to my ears.
Han Bin I think there's more to it than that (sheer age of the production). I think even the selection of sounds they choose to use for Sentai seems to NEVER get updated. In fact, there are times when I watch Sentai, and it SOUNDS like something you'd here in a typical Japanese anime... overexaggerated. Whereas, when you listen to the sounds in Power Rangers, seem.... more realistic/believable.

Ugh! I wish they'd kept the Japanese version of Red going to Super Dino Mode. Not only is that version more epic but it would've made a lot more sense that way. Conner doesn't know about Super Dino Mode so it would be more probable that after getting beat up by the White Ranger that the new Super Dino Mode power-up would kick in. So how is it that Conner already knows to call for Super Dino Mode? But i do like the American version of Conner staying morphed but Ryouga powered down.
Well, the thing about why they never bothered to have the Dino Thunder rangers tap into the "Super Dino Mode" until later on is because they would feel a bit too overly-powerful with so many new upgrades and power-ups left and right. I mean, *HELLO!!!!!* Have you not been paying any attention to the Neo-Saban era or Ninninger, lately?! If they had busted out the "Super Dino Modes" early on like in the sentai, then it would make the Dino Thunder team feel like they are at a huge dis-advantage by over-powering their enemies one after the other. I grew up on the Power Rangers version, so I can’t bring myself to hate it, but it saddens me that Super Sentai is allowed to be more mature. I haven’t really watched Super Sentai outside of a few comparison clips, but I can already tell that it doesn’t feel the need to dumb things down for children (I assume children are still the target audience regardless of region).
Same, I loved power rangers, but the dumbing down to be excessively ‘kid friendly’ just made the stories feel flatter, as a little kid and now I’ve always preferred stories that expressed intenser emotions, and American kid shows always lacked that a bit for me haha

I'd say the Japanese version is a bit edgier. The American adaptation seems really censored though in comparison. Also, can anyone tell me why the Super Dino Mode transformation is different? The Japanese one seems more epic, how he's just transformed in the flames of an explosion.
+M. Chedderbeef The super dino mode transformation sequence is more of a "unexpected power" feeling. Kind of like Goku tapping into his Super Saiyan mode for the first time in Dragonball Z. But with Abaranger, they were technically born with the "Dino Guts" in them. I.E. Midoclorians from the Star Wars prequels.
SuperYasai budget issues. Toei has two shows to worry about, Kamen rider 555 and Abaranger at that time and usually more budget is spent on kamen rider shows. Also dinothunder is not in HD It’s in 480p and the only reason it looks better is because of the saturation

If there's one thing I absolutely hate about the Disney era are those damn Kalishplosions. Its one reason why I don't look back on those seasons as fondly as the Saban era.

KaZ Neosis Well, that's why we now have Chip Lynn being the new show runner of the Neo-Saban era starting with Dino Charge/Dino Supercharge. As a way of rectifying the mistakes that were made by Jonathan Tzachor's utter incompetence and sheer laziness, which ironically, nearly killed the franchise for almost four years. Yet, Power Rangers Turbo was also suffering the same fate back in 1997 and it only took the effort of Chip Lynn and Jackie Marchand to save the franchise with Power Rangers in Space. And so, we better pray and hope that things will be better later on in the near-future. Hopefully, if Ninja Steel does become a good series.

Have you seen some of the Super Sentai series from the 90's? They were not afraid to shed a lot of blood, and those shows were marketed to Japanese kids. That would never slide in America. Super Sentai may be darker than Power Rangers, but it was always meant to be a kid's show, just like Power Rangers.

To make up for Dino Thunder to use more AbareKiller vs Abaranger footage, PR had to create the Evil White Ranger clone as Trent redeemed himself in the middle of the show, whereas Dr Nakadai redeemed himself during the show's endgame.
While not as many things happening in PR as in Sentai but still a tie in my opinion. Besides, PR is *based on* Sentai after all I love the voice for the PR version of the Evil White Ranger.

Well, I do believe the Japanese version had better dialoge and handle the characters better. Still, the USA version has some more action, which makes the scene more dinamic and exciting. That's just my point of view though, both of them are great.

PR is an adaptation of the Sentai, they take the scenes and re-edit them to match their plot. Sometimes they can't do this and need to film their own stuff, but generally they try to use the available footage to save budget.
The full series is on KRDL. They have all of the sentai on there. Even Kamen Rider. I finished Abaranger, but I think Dino Thunder was the best one. You might like it better than me though. The sound quality (and specific selection of sound effects used) in the U.S. version is much more clear (less muffled), more ambient and rich-sounding, and more believable....... well... at least according to my ears.

Han Bin I think there's more to it than that (sheer age of the production). I think even the selection of sounds they choose to use for Sentai seems to NEVER get updated. In fact, there are times when I watch Sentai, and it SOUNDS like something you'd here in a typical Japanese anime... overexaggerated. Whereas, when you listen to the sounds in Power Rangers, seem.... more realistic/believable.

Ugh! I wish they'd kept the Japanese version of Red going to Super Dino Mode. Not only is that version more epic but it would've made a lot more sense that way.

Well, the thing about why they never bothered to have the Dino Thunder rangers tap into the "Super Dino Mode" until later on is because they would feel a bit too overly-powerful with so many new upgrades and power-ups left and right. I mean, *HELLO!!!!!* Have you not been paying any attention to the Neo-Saban era or Ninninger, lately?! If they had busted out the "Super Dino Modes" early on like in the sentai, then it would make the Dino Thunder team feel like they are at a huge dis-advantage by over-powering their enemies one after the other. and Number Two: I believe you misread the comment to which you replied, in which i did not ask why the Rangers didn't get their Super Dino Mode earlier in the series itself. What i was saying was since the rangers DIDN'T get their Super Dino Mode power-ups earlier in the Dino Thunder series, it would've made more sense that they've used the more-badass Japanese clip of Abare Red rising from the fires with his new power-up and it just kicking in while fighting White. Also, what i was asking was how is it Conner knows to call for Super Dino Mode since it was never used or even mentioned in prior episodes. Reading is fundamental. Trying reading someone's comment more thoroughly before going off on a ranting spree next time.

I grew up on the Power Rangers version, so I can’t bring myself to hate it, but it saddens me that Super Sentai is allowed to be more mature. I haven’t really watched Super Sentai outside of a few comparison clips, but I can already tell that it doesn’t feel the need to dumb things down for children (I assume children are still the target audience regardless of region).
Same, I loved power rangers, but the dumbing down to be excessively ‘kid friendly’ just made the stories feel flatter, as a little kid and now I’ve always preferred stories that expressed intenser emotions, and American kid shows always lacked that a bit for me haha

Well not always. Power Rangers' best seasons either emulated the source material(Time Force, SPD), or went all out with its production values to make it superior to the original version despite being heavily diverging from the original (Dino Thunder, RPM).

Not gonna lie I prefer the White dino ranger idk but it just fits more to me to the voice, the music and other things fit more to me than the japanese version.

I'd say the Japanese version is a bit edgier. The American adaptation seems really censored though in comparison. Also, can anyone tell me why the Super Dino Mode transformation is different? The Japanese one seems more epic, how he's just transformed in the flames of an explosion.

The super dino mode transformation sequence is more of a "unexpected power" feeling. Kind of like Goku tapping into his Super Saiyan mode for the first time in Dragonball Z. But with Abaranger, they were technically born with the "Dino Guts" in them. I.E. Midoclorians from the Star Wars prequels.
Storywise, Abarenger wins. Actionwise, Dino Thunder wins.

If there's one thing I absolutely hate about the Disney era are those damn Kalishplosions. Its one reason why I don't look back on those seasons as fondly as the Saban era.

KaZ Neosis Well, that's why we now have Chip Lynn being the new show runner of the Neo-Saban era starting with Dino Charge/Dino Supercharge. As a way of rectifying the mistakes that were made by Jonathan Tzachor's utter incompetence and sheer laziness, which ironically, nearly killed the franchise for almost four years. Yet, Power Rangers Turbo was also suffering the same fate back in 1997 and it only took the effort of Chip Lynn and Jackie Marchand to save the franchise with Power Rangers in Space. And so, we better pray and hope that things will be better later on in the near-future. Hopefully, if Ninja Steel does become a good series.

Have you seen some of the Super Sentai series from the 90's? They were not afraid to shed a lot of blood, and those shows were marketed to Japanese kids. That would never slide in America. Super Sentai may be darker than Power Rangers, but it was always meant to be a kid's show, just like Power Rangers.
Uhh...it's the truth though. Japan and America both have different standards for what's acceptable in a kid's show.

PR is an adaptation of the Sentai, they take the scenes and re-edit them to match their plot. Sometimes they can't do this and need to film their own stuff, but generally they try to use the available footage to save budget.
