@@PhilbyFavourites I've never drawn the weapon for defensive reasons. It is mainly there for back up purposes. Better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.
@@PhilbyFavourites I know you were asking the other commenter about how often he has had to draw his weapon but I have had to draw my weapon once in the last 5 years. I was getting gas and two guys pulled up beside me and asked if I had $20 that they could have. I said no and the passenger got out with a knife and told me to give him my billfold. I pulled my firearm from my holster on my right side and before I could point it at him he ran back to the car and they sped off. Had I not had my handgun they might have stabbed me, or at the very least taken my wallet. It shook me up pretty bad for a while.
It's good to see that the revolver remains a good choice as a weapon of self-defense in the US. Here in Brazil there are many who do not recognize revolvers as a good choice. They call them obsolete compared to pistols. Thank you and merry christmas Jerry and friends. Greetings from Brazil.
I love Jerry. He so unpretentious. He so relatable….until he starts shooting of course…then he is superhuman. 😂 I would still carry a S&W Shield or Shield plus instead of a revolver Long live Jerry!
Absolutely love the J frame for everyday carry. It is so light I hardly notice it's even there! With 5 shots of 38 special +P and another 5 in a speed loader, I feel well enough protected for most situations that may arise. It is really an "always gun".
I agree, I got all kinds of high capacity semi automatic handguns but I find myself carrying a 5 shot Chiefs special stoked with corbon DPX and a speed loader most times.
I pocket carry my J Frame in a Blue Force Gear pocket holster. The Sticky Holster I owned lost its sticky properties after about six months of daily use.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge on how to conceal carry a revolver my wife has the 642 airweight this video will help on her options on how to conceal carry thank you
Glenn Siciliano I prefer to carry the Smith & Wesson 640-3 in an iwb holster on the right, side small of back. Although it is a .357 Magnum, I carry it with Remington .38 Special + P (.125 grain). I enjoyed the presentation.
I carry a hammerless J frame Smith in a holster inside my belt line on my left side, for a right handed cross draw. I would think an ankle holster would be too slow to retrieve in an emergency. That's where cops used to carry their backups.
I have one 442 (no lock) and bought another about 3 years ago. The new one was to be a spare in case the other needed repair or similar. The new one shot way left at 10 yards and of course, moreso at 25 yards. Sent it back to S&W. It returned a month or two later, less off at 7 and 10 yards but still unacceptably left at 15 and 25 yards. I contacted S&W and they sent me another mailing label and told me they didn't think "Customer Service" would do anything if it hit the target at 10 yards. I sent the gun back, including a letter asking that they get someone on their staff with the ability to hit center mass on a silhouette target at 25 yards to wring it out and see to it that the gun was right before sending it back. Months later, I get my gun back. Included are shot targets and documentation showing the gun hit the targets at 10 yards. Among the notes in the box, is one saying in effect that the gun hits the target at ten yards and nothing more was done to it. I called S&W and asked to speak to a manager. Instead, I get an underling who tells me that their policy is that if the gun hits the target at 10 yards, it is good by their standards. I told him that this is a 💩 standard, then. I love the 442 design, weight and accuracy (the older one will put rounds center mass on a B-27 all day long at 25 yards and beyond). The new one, the one they told me meets their "standard", will put the rounds in the target's right (my left) shoulder and arm area or off of the silhouette and onto white paper at 25 yards. I would like to have another 442 that was accurate but I cannot risk spending another $400 on a gun that I find unacceptable to carry. Jerry, could you help mediate this for me? Smith and Wesson should be ashamed.
Mr. Miculek, Thank you very much for this succinct presentation! I would really love to see how to best draw the J-frame revolver from the pocket holster.
What kind of grips do you prefer on a j frame to balance concealability with shootability when carrying full powered 357 magnum? There are so many to choose from...boot grips, standard grips, adding Tyler t grips, combat grips, altai grips, banana grips, bantam grips, secret service grips, and the list goes on and on and on. I know everything is a tradeoff.
A wild dog attacked me once. Pepper spray would have gotten into my eyes as much as his, but fortunately I had a tactical folder 🔪 which got him to shut up and run away. Had he an accomplice “junkyard dog”, a revolver would have come in handy to separate us.
Normally, it's pretty hard to argue with Jerry Miculek about revolvers, but there is no way in hell anyone will ever convince me to carry a gun in my pocket in a holster that exposes the trigger. 0:49
I know this depends on your shirt you’re wearing but having your wallet in another pocket is the best option. If you know what you need in you’re wallet for (cash, card) have it already moved to a front pocket before you’re in public. You can also turn your body in a direction to hide your firearm if you know it will be visible when accessing your pocket. Or do what I do and have your wife pay and pay her back later lol. I ankle carry my 360pd mostly but having holster options in your vehicle can help you stay armed if your clothes/environment changes. I have uncle mikes for Ankle, Blackhawk for OWB, and a Sticky holster too. If I was a woman I’d have a purse and a belly band option as well.
I was working in my front yard the night of November 22. Three armed men ran up to me guns out and demanding cash and guns. They held me at gun point and took about 20 dollars and my new Sig. About all I can say is I am alive.
Why are we even talking about appendix carry? It's not an option. I'm not ok with a loaded gun pointed at my private. This also breaks the 1 of the cardinal rules of gun safety.
This is the patron saint of wheelguns. Listen to him.
Jerry's suggestions are always the best. I've been carrying a J frame Model 60 5-shot .38, as my back-up gun, in an ankle holster for over 40 years.
Can I ask, as a Brit who has more than a passing awareness of handguns, how many times you’ve been completed to draw the weapon?
@@PhilbyFavourites I've never drawn the weapon for defensive reasons. It is mainly there for back up purposes. Better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.
I am leaning towards carrying a backup gun in an ankle holster. What do you recommend?
@@Brett235 Any type of small gun would be fine. I you use a larger gun it will make you walk funny.

I just watched about 30 minutes worth of two concealed carry revolver videos and this 1:48 was way more informative.
I just got a S&W Bodyguard 38, it’s really comfortable to carry and I barely notice it’s there. Thanks Smith!
My Smith and Wesson 642 has been my choice for carry and home defense for over two years.
Model 442 in a Sticky holster in my front pocket. Couldn’t agree more Jerry

Those are some sweet looking guns, and as for me, I will always love a revolver.

I love revolvers
It’s hard to beat the reliability of a S&W j frame for pocket carry. My choice is the 442 with a desantis nemesis pocket holster
Yes ... I use the exact same thing ... works great.
Yep, I carry the 637 in the pocket with a Super Fly holster, and 2 5 Star speed loaders in the coin pocket of my jeans.
642 with a Desantis pocket holster.
Ditto here, 642 Performance Center version in a Desantis pocket holster. That combo is so light you can’t even feel it.
👍😎
I pocket carry my J Frame in a Blue Force Gear pocket holster. The Sticky Holster I owned lost its sticky properties after about six months of daily use.

I have physical disabilities but I believe I can be a good shooter one day ☺️
You sure can brother

Just picked up a 351pd your video is definitely helpful sir
I carry my J frame in my pocket when I don’t feel like appendix carrying my 9mm. Always carry!! Everywhere!!
Happy Birthday Jerry!
🎂
Thank you sir, for teaching us.
Literally, carried that setup...for two decades. There's little that can improve, on a concealed, j-frame Smith.
Legend...
Love 📹 and Smith@ Wesson makes a great revolver 🔫!

Sell it on arms list and by yourself another
Jerry you just do it all the best. Thanks for sharing
Nice. The light weight aluminium frames were my first choice doh.
Very good tips. Thanks for the advice.
My dream is a model 29 , 44 Magnum
Mr. Miculek,
Thank you very much for this succinct presentation!
I would really love to see how to best draw the J-frame revolver from the pocket holster.

We wanted to see jerry shoot the targets
It's one of the only way I carry is with a revolver. Best for most all conditions

A shooter or a robber had better hope he never pulls any mess around Jerry. He would look like Swiss Cheese before he could count to 1. LOL 😂
S&W please bring back the 2" model 10,12 or 64 .you can use the crappy dull finish like your other models. We won't mind
Thank you
🙂👍☕ awesome job on your Video
Perfect
Wow...i love it.🙂
Merry christmas idol.🙂
You guys need to make the new j frames with a standard 8 round cylinder.
Particularly the 638 model
Call it the 638-8
Go buy a model 327
🔥🔥🔥nice🔥🔥🔥
Why S&W dont offer aluminium airweight K frames like the old model 12 ?
What type of holster is that outside waistband that you are using?
ปืนสวยมากนะครับคุณลุง..(from Thai land)
Air weight on a cross draw…best drawing if sitting in your car
Good info but I still need the manufacturers of discussed holsters.
What was that belt owb holster?

That Sticky holster doesn´t look like it covers enough of the trigger!f Or am I missing something?
IWB too

The trigger area is totally covered.
Look at a DeSantis pocket holster.
I have used them for many years.
Is that a gun on ur pocket or u just happy to see me
Could tell from the thumbnail those were Jerry’s hands, so ofc I clicked
S&W devia vir Brasil
Great 👍
Send me one bro'🙏
I would be afraid to carry appendix.😳
I've been carrying appendix for year and never ever had a problem. Modern revolvers are inherently safe. Even more so if you have a concealed hammer.
I don't like appendix carry because my gun is pointed directly at my femoral artery.
What about for women who do not wear belts?
th-cam.com/video/DBKGG0vQvUs/w-d-xo.html
They do make special purses for concealed carry.
Ankle holster just might affect the way I dress, living in Florida.......I might have a pair of long pants, If I do, I know they wouldn't fit...lol
Very gimmicky acting like the strong side belt carry is “concealed”
bro speaks like we did in the 1850s, almost british in sounding
