Ha, I made the cars for this game. The MZ mkII are my then girlfriend, now wife, initials. We had next to no to make the secret cars for the game. I actually just put up a video of my complete Getaway memorabilia, it has some super rare items in it. When ever I see these videos I always wish we made the game a little brighter :)
Wow, that's amazing! I would never have guessed how much work goes into press packs and the like. I also noticed that the post cards you showed are the ones shown on the map that came with the game, I still have my original copy lying somewhere. Thanks for all the hard work too, I probably played both Getaways for far too long back in the day.
what i liked about this game was the fact that there was actual real life cars not some recreated cars like in GTA. AND you could use the turn signals which was probably the best thing in this game :D
There were even more planned vehicles for The Getaway, but they were scrapped: Aston Martin: - V8 Vantage (1977) Audi - TT (1999) - Scrapped during development Bentley: - Mulsanne (1985) - Only seen in some video scenes BMW (They given't permission due BMW regards The Getaway as too violent): - 3 Series Coupe (1992) - 5 Series (1989) - featured in a DC Carter Mission as a wreck in the Southwark Garage Chrysler: - Voyager (1996) Ford: - Fiesta Mk3 (1989) - planned as a civilian and police car - Escort Xr3i (1988) - Cortina (1974) - Granada Estate (1981) - Capri Mk3 (1981) - Transit (1978) - Transit (1994) - It's actually in the game, but without the marques but altered front design Jaguar: - XJ6 (1978) - Was planned to be the original Bethnal Green mob's car Jeep: - Grand Cherokee (1993) - featured as a wreck in some missions Mercedes-Benz: - 280SE (1966) - 560SEC (1981) - Planned to be one of the Yardie's gang cars and featured as a wreck in some missions... Mini: - Cooper (?) - Scrapped during development Mitsubishi: - Legnum (1998) Porsche: - 911 (?) - Scrapped during development. It was the only air cooled car Škoda: - Felicia (1998) - Mismentioned as "Fabia" in the game files Toyota: - MR2 (1986) - Originally planned to be a Triad's gang car Volkswagen: - Golf Mk2 (1990) - Civilian and Boyracer version
He might be using and hdmi converter. A lot of people didn't have hdtv's back then, so upgrading to it now makes the ps2 graphics look crisper than they did at the time. The graphics arent hd, but there is a noticeable difference from standard tv.
+jayjaybwoyxx PlayStation 2 had some really complex lighting and smoke engine for its day that sadly few developers utilised early on, Gran Turismo 4 and Bullet is probably the pinnacle of graphics on the PS2, GT4 is among the very few games that could run in 1080i mode. XBOX of course had the most powerful hardware and game options but the GameCube had equally powerful GPU but none of the games outputed 1080 or even 720 as far as I know. I miss that era of consoles, they all were quite unique unlike the PS3, X360 era and onwards except Nintendo consoles.
i loved the getaway back then, it was ahead of its time in many ways, it was clear to see. i was playing it alongside gta 3, and was loving them both. they showed us the potential of the genre, and let the imagination wander into the future.
The van is Ford Transit not Sprinter. In the demo the panda cars were Ford Fiestas, but due to licencing, they changed them to Peugeot 306's. But they kept the Transit van, but just took the badges off them and gave them a modified grille. 👍🏻 The first version had an actual BT van, but they weren't happy with being used for the mission at Snow Hill police station. So later versions had plain grey vans.
Wow this takes me back. I remember buying this game for PS2 with an unbranded wireless controller (new tech at the time). Was never really responsive enough, truely horrendous bit of kit - now we take it for granted.
Shame this series got canned, this could've been British GTA, go places like Blackpool, Manchester, Liverpool, Cheshire, Glasgow and so on. (I Know Rockstar is British but all their TTA games apart from GTA London are in America)
I assume you were referring to the red police cars' and Carter's car's indicators not working around 17:30. They do work - just not in hardware mode on the emulator. If you switched it to software mode they work fine.
The Yardies drive Rovers and the Civic is a Triad gang car. There is a green Aston Martin Vantage that also spawns in the garage with the yellow Peugeot
Hi man! Greetings from Chile, hey man I'm just in the second mission, and went to see de first car but there is a gate and i can't get in the mansion, what can i do??
So the turn signals works in this game as well as for Black Monday. So GTA, True Crime, Mafia, Driver, and Saints Row didn't have that at all didn't it? How about that.
The cars are in the original game, i know many cars in the game... I remember one place where you can find a Rover with sedan body style... But i don't remember where.

Why you don't include the Range Rover in Black Monday?
Very cool job
Why wasn't getaway 3 ever released on the ps3?
Retro Gamer Boy it’s okay. Growing up in London since 1993 I can say it really is that dark on most days haha very accurate
what i liked about this game was the fact that there was actual real life cars not some recreated cars like in GTA. AND you could use the turn signals which was probably the best thing in this game :D
Bernt Turn signals showed when to turn. Maybe they were controllable in free roam.
There were even more planned vehicles for The Getaway, but they were scrapped:

Audi

(They given't permission due BMW regards The Getaway as too violent):
- 3 Series Coupe (1992)
- 5 Series (1989) - featured in a DC Carter Mission as a wreck in the Southwark Garage
Chrysler:
- Voyager (1996)
Ford:
- Fiesta Mk3 (1989) - planned as a civilian and police car
- Escort Xr3i (1988)
- Cortina (1974)
- Granada Estate (1981)
- Capri Mk3 (1981)
- Transit (1978)
- Transit (1994) - It's actually in the game, but without the marques but altered front design
Jaguar:
- XJ6 (1978) - Was planned to be the original Bethnal Green mob's car
Jeep:
- Grand Cherokee (1993) - featured as a wreck in some missions
Mercedes-Benz:

Having real-life cars in a GTA-style game is literally the most awesome thing ever.
This game still looks amazing in 2017 it's amazing how they did this on ps2
I agree 100% they need to make a new one

I agree. The Getaway and True Crime NYC was awesome game with a nearby recreation to the real. But the Getaway visual sense are much better.
@@paulrowledge6683 The Getaway 3 was supposed to be exist, but I don't know why they kept holding it.
they managed to cramp all those real stores in the game without any lawsuit, it shows us how times have changed...
A pity!
Amazing graphics for 2002 to be honest.
i loved the getaway back then, it was ahead of its time in many ways, it was clear to see. i was playing it alongside gta 3, and was loving them both. they showed us the potential of the genre, and let the imagination wander into the future.

I remember playing this back then on my ps2 XD
It was ONLY released on ps2
I've still got both games and an old ps2. I can feel a nostalgic couple of days coming up soon :)
You remind me of a straight line that touches the outside of a circle at one single point.
Going off on a tangent...
Not having internet while playing this game made me miss a lot of these cars
The Car accidents Look very realistic by the way
Wow this takes me back. I remember buying this game for PS2 with an unbranded wireless controller (new tech at the time). Was never really responsive enough, truely horrendous bit of kit - now we take it for granted.
This game is so British they should do one in Leeds where I live
LFO - LFO (Leeds Warehouse Mix)
Shame this series got canned, this could've been British GTA, go places like Blackpool, Manchester, Liverpool, Cheshire, Glasgow and so on. (I Know Rockstar is British but all their TTA games apart from GTA London are in America)

I'm gutted that I didn't know about most of these back when I had the game lol.
The Yardies drive Rovers and the Civic is a Triad gang car. There is a green Aston Martin Vantage that also spawns in the garage with the yellow Peugeot
14:44 *OH CHRIST NO UNITS NO UNITS*
Am I the only person that noticed his shadow was a box 😂😂😂
The armoured car is actually called a ferret light armoured reconnaissance vehicle
Hi man! Greetings from Chile, hey man I'm just in the second mission, and went to see de first car but there is a gate and i can't get in the mansion, what can i do??
This is such a good game
Does this count on The Getaway: Black Monday
I loved this game as a kid. 👍👍
@4:20 that’s a lotus Evora :)
So the turn signals works in this game as well as for Black Monday. So GTA, True Crime, Mafia, Driver, and Saints Row didn't have that at all didn't it? How about that.
The Peugeot 306 Golden Shower
Better Than iPad graphics or?
Sadly the game didn't use true vehicle physics.
Well, the game is kinda old
GTA IV did it better and close to what real life driving is.
@@al112v4
The Getaway was released in 2002. GTA IV in 2008.
Idiot
Are your playing on emulator cuz you have good resolution
You do realise this game is nearly 20 years and it's most set in Central London. The Getaway 3 was cancelled Team Soho went bankrupt.
I can't imagine if the getaway 3 still went through. Will it still feature 2 or 3 different protagonists?
The Getaway 3 was most likely gonna be set in Amsterdam
is this PC version?
On the free roam I use to shoot car tires as they drive by they always lost control and crashed I loved it 😂😂😂
how to get through the gate??
Gta London edition
14:15 What??? Since when London coppers got guns?
0:44 FUCK YAH
I enjoyed your video so much mate
What year is this game set in?
2002
hello

The cars are in the original game, i know many cars in the game... I remember one place where you can find a Rover with sedan body style... But i don't remember where.
