Saw them live last night in Wellington New Zealand. A. Magnificent Gig of EPIC proportions. If you've never been to their show you are seriously missing out!
Wikipedia says it was divided from New Orleans by water, like France and the algerian Algiers. And in Algiers the african slaves were held in quarantine, until they were sold.
I'll disagree only because some of my favorite bands like Son Volt, Old 97s, Iron and Wine, James Yorkston, etc have had recent albums that were departures from their norm, and I thought they were horrible. I see exactly what you're saying, but I actually appreciate the consistency here.
People who want the original quality not compressed lossy format that is youtube :) It still sounds like an mp3, 320kbps at best, and that's something that might even be wrong... maybe 192kbps probably...
I like the song, and I like the album...but I feel like Calexico has really stalled out creatively. I'm going to check out the rest of the album but this track has definitely moved into that cliche territory that all country/folk bands should be fearing like the plague.
I am obsessed with this song. Greetings from İzmir Turkey
I love their music and this song is on my "off road" songs loaded on my 4WD when I drive through the back roads of southern NM. Perfect!
Bravo... greetings from Algiers , Algeria :)
Yeah man crazy how they named their album algiers i wonder why
@@ilyesghomari5680 algiers is a neighborhood in new orleans, where the band recorded their record

Yes... but it's actually about a quarter in New Orleans, where a lot of Jazz musicians lived.
