It's a nice setup for sure but my WRK Ursus Cub is a much better value and also a heavy hitter.
@@ArtofHunter the Ursus Cub is 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
I agree ☝🏾
Jacob. You are a cut above 🔪 Honest knife reviews 🔪 You RULE man!
@@jakerozier77 thanks man!
I think Reiff knifes are overpriced.
Priced better than MKC. The new tf24 is over 400 USD.
@Inspiredshorts123 yikes. Gotta pay for the millions of dollars in dream land they are buying up there in Montana, and all of the exclusive parties with politicians.
This is a beautiful well executed knife and banging sheath, but I would have hard time picking this over my nomad bushcrafter, EDC,Forrester, lynx or laguna with ulti clips @ $160….. I like my old school rat 3 as well, it’s a very old one however ☝️

Awesome video, Jacob. I had been eyeballing this knife but I was concerned about the handle length, as I have huge mitts. I ended up getting a Lionsteel M2M with an Armatus sheath for a total of $175 shipped. What are your thoughts on that knife? It will be my first Lionsteel, as I almost exclusively buy USA made knives. I love Reiff, by the way. I dang near sleep with my F6 Magnacut.
@Minuteman777 I like what I see from lionsteel but I don't have first hand experience with them.
I bet that's a sweet setup though!
You've made some very helpful observations, Jacob. On the small side, I have a WRK Ursus Cub; the ESEE Sencillo; the Reiff F3XC (CPM 3V); and a couple of Jackalopes. I ordered the Circadian ($285). While it seems that I've already covered my bases, I really haven't. In using the WRK UC and Sencillo extensively, I've found that I don't like using them for extended periods. The scales on the UC are great but it's not as slicey as the Sencillo. The Sencillo easily outperforms other knives in terms of blade shape, but the scales aren't comfortable for my XL hands for extended use. The F3XC has a thicker blade but with better scales. Since having surgery on my wrist, ergonomics and blade shape make a big difference. The Circadian, I think, will be the best of both worlds. If only they offered lanyard beads.
@InGratitudeIam that was something I was going to mention was that for the sheath setup i wanted a lanyard and bead- I actually wanted to do one before the video and I forgot. It has one now.
@@Thepreppersbunkeroutdoors I looked for those on your site. Do you still sell them?
@@InGratitudeIam sadly I JUST sold out of them a few days ago but the next batch is in the works
@@Thepreppersbunkeroutdoors Make sure that God and family come first. But do hurry up! :))

That’s the thing that I don’t think a lot of people gets. The Reiff is $300 but the fit/finish is top tier. It’s ready to go out of the box and amazing. I like the Esee 3 and still highly suggest the it. But if you were to upgrade the sheath and scales you still would be spending a decent amount and not have as nice of a knife. I was thinking about it with even my Ursus Cub, really love that knife but by the time I put a decent sheath and better scales and Ulticlip I’d have more into it than the Reiff even.
Good video. I need to do some comparisons myself
Nice presentation and review of a nice knife.
I however think that an Edge shoulder thickness of 0.025" on a small knife like this is literally twice of what it should be, especially being made of steel with respectable toughness. Reiff should take advantage of this and thin the edge. For a knife this size (small) with steel this quality, an edge like this 0.012"/10-12 dps would offer much higher performance... unless, of course, one plans on chiseling through nails resting on an anvil. But for real life tasks, the above mentioned edge geometry would be much better. JMO.
@S.Vallieres I don't think will ever see a bush related knife with an edge that thick. .025 is PLENTY with this grind to be slicier than most production blades and at .010 with this ffg numbskulls would be destroying knives right and left, I have ABSOLUTELY no doubt.
With that being said the edge sure does feel thinner than .025 so I think I need to look again. It looks and feels in memory more like .015- .018

People are abusing knives a lot and by filming and putting that on YT, it creates too high durability demands and expectations which makes knife companies in a position where they essentially need to overbuilt knives which in turn reduces performance/cutting ability.
Here are some videos of interest showing what even very low durability geometries can do:

If you have and take the time to watch them, I would highly suggest paying attention to their descriptions, including the geometry specs/numbers.
As a side note, he uses the term Apex bevel in these videos, but he has also used the term Edge bevel in some other videos to apparently designate the same thing.
@S.Vallieres ill watch those but it'll take a bit.
Cliff Stamp is an absolute legend.
With that said, I have had some thin knives fail on me before.
I have also had knives that never took any damage but I let a student in class or a friend borrow it for 10 seconds and it comes back mauled.
As a manufacture you have to take this variation in user's into account.
Great video. I think the Pacaya is made by Toor knives. A brilliant little knife but the sheath was poorly executed. Have ordered an Armatus sheath.
No, at least the first run was definitely made by wrk&t.
I see that knife center says that- that is bizarre.
I just reached out to knife center and wrk&t about this
Hey Jake, random question.... which book do you think is better? brave new world or orwells 1984?
Great video
I actually haven't read brave new world and I need to fix that!
I saw it in a short, then got smoked by the price on the website. $411 'Murican.😮
Did you... mistakenly look at a different knife?
It's 299 american
The Ulti-Clip and the pivot mount that company makes are awesome, I have both of them and I really like them, I am thinking about offering them as an at cost option for my knives, I like the product so much. It just almost doubles the prices of my knives however, believe it or not.
Man adding stuff like that and buying in bulk is brutal!
Man, it would be awesome if you gave us some hints on how you feather stick like Mors Kochanski at such a young age
@@JDStone20 haha I have done some how to feather stick videos.
for everyday the super steels are awsome for a survival no. if it hits the fan. how you gona sharpen it your dimond sharpner isnt going to last for ever
1095 sharpens like a razor on anything
You can still strop magnacut and I have no doubt that a natural stone will work.
Awesome video, bro, Cliff Stamp would be proud and happy that at least one person understood what he and Roman Landes were talking about. Good on you. Edge Geometry, Blade Geometry, Cutting Ability, and Ergomonics along with Sheath/Carry Method. Nice to see that steel type wasn't even mentioned in the importance of what makes a good knife, as it should be if I do say so myself. Wish Nitrobe 77 was less expensive and more available, that is a steel to be excited about. LC200N, AEB-L, and MagnaCut along with 52100 are steels I would take also, I haven't gotten my hands on any MagnaCut yet, but to actually be able to sort out a difference in steel other than corrosion resistance is hard and I don't have the skill or the time and energy to sort out steel difference vs edge and blade geometry as well as cutting ability. Cliff Stamp was one of the only people I ever saw be able to guess what a lot of five steels were through testing, but he did a metric ton of cutting and also had a PhD in Physics, so he could set up an experiment to sort that out. My expertise is more in computers. Again, great video!
@JDStone20 thanks man!!! I NEED to do my cliff stamp tribute video!
Wish there was a kydex option and $50 cheaper.
@@shamitoson I'm sure kydex will comr
Maybe try the WRK&T Ursus cub!
you compare the reiff 3 to esee 3, what about compare to white rive fc3.5 magnacut or ursus cub, there both less then 200$, 3.5 inch blade, and blade geometry is good even exellent to my opinion
@palmman1211 I totally spaced them man, idk why.
But yes, they are FANTASTIC deals!
Still, if you want to get leather for the ursus cub and an ulticlip you will be close in price but out of the box the ursus cub is a crazy good value!
Anyone saying it’s overpriced, please check out the Leatherman Malloy release and get back with me. 😂
@@Anythingelse83 🤣
Dammit... Ok I'll try it just this once.
