The Rolex president is hands down the best watch that Rolex makes. It's easy to set the day and date function, it's very practical for everyday use and it's made of precious metal all the way around. You just don't get any better than that. In an age of cell phones, watches have become accessories and there's no better premium accessory for a man than the Rolex Day-Date 40 in my opinion. 💯

The yellow gold DD is for men that don’t care what other people think about him or what he earns just because a guy has a yellow gold Rolex on his wrist doesn’t mean that he’s rich. You could buy one that is 30 or 40 years old between 12 and $15,000 or you could get one a little newer 20-30 years old for 18-30k or a brand new one for
38-42k and from a few feet away people all they’ll see is the iconic presidential bracelet.I have a mint bark finish 18248 36mm and love it

Like dealing with regret over selling, or buying the wrong timepiece, or simply getting confused by not being able to stay focussed on that grail watch. Maybe doing it one piece at a time, instead of one big haul, makes it more palatable? Gotta tip your cap to the commitment though.

    Classic piece 9head! Love it.
It's the one watch that got me to break my "no pieces with a cyclops on the sapphire" rule.
I was able to secure an Ice Blue 228206 with the Roman Markers last year from my AD with much less purchase history than I expected, but I'm in the Midwest and almost never saw anybody wearing anything special in the town I grew up in (and really only see anything decent when I'm downtown or AT an AD). I should be getting a call this week about either the RG Olive 40 with the Roman Markers or a few other configs I have inquired about that are definitely easier to get, and am definitely a bit conflicted. I'd really like a second Plat with a different Dial, but will likely be going Gold. Not so much a fan of YG on myself, but I can't deny the piece you have looks great. I'd wear the YG with a Black Dial, but I honestly wouldn't purchase one over other options. That Cartier is GOD AWEFUL, but I think the DAY-DATE 40 (I know you just used it as clickbait in the title, but come on now...) was a great choice.
The fully brushed Oyster Bracelet was my favorite from Rolex until I had the chance to try a DD-40 on, and the Presidential stole that crown (no pun intended) damn near instantly.

I’m also a fan of the yellow gold and Champaign look. I’ll hope to buy the same watch soon. In it for the long haul. See you then Bruce

This watch with the old school stick markers has been the one watch that would complete my life's goals. I have been after that watch since I was 13 years old., back when they were 12K brand new. No Joke. Saw it on my neighbors wrist growing up and I was infatuated with it since the day I laid eyes on it. Yes I am huge into GS, AP and many others, but this piece is THE watch! Unfortunately I don't think I'll ever see it in my life. Well, maybe, but it's a crazy expensive piece for me to splurge on. And I don't do replicas, so I'll just keep marveling at them through the glass in the Las Vegas malls. LOL!

That's a beautiful watch, that is the quintessential gold watch others imitate, but never duplicate.

My first Rolex was my day date gold president. Still have it and still enjoy wearing it, although getting to be more limited where i can wear it. Could never sell it.

Very well done move. The one in my mind is the 40 mm rose gold on chocolate dial. Enjoy it in good health

Bruce: Roman vs Baguette diamonds for the same watch? Thoughts?

Hey Bruce, the Day Date is seriously mesmerizing, a true beauty, and a wonderful piece to last you a lifetime. Still, of all the great watches you have owned, I am impressed and intrigued by your choice to keep the Pasha. I am a huge fan of Cartier, and usually have focused their rectanglular or square watches. But the Pasha has always captured my imagination. It's a striking mix of industrial and dress, and that crown system is so neat. Great choice to keep that one. I look forward to where you go from here.

Bruce, is this the 40 or the 36? I can't immediately tell -- thanks!

Totally agree with you on the DD. It’s a grail piece. Not sure why you dissolved your whole collection for it though. Wouldn’t selling the hulk and the vacheron be enough to get it

It's a lot cheaper to get a t shirt that says, "Rob me" on the front and, "I'm dumb enough to spend $10k+ on a watch" on the back.

You don't really understand a Rolex day date until you try it on. Great choice..... that black dial with the baguettes is something else though.
