My boyfriend and I ate there a few years ago. It was summer and they had the screened in porch area open. We had a great dinner and I bought a lovely little crystal gift from the shoppe. We meant to go back again, but sadly, Bud passed away this past September from AML leukemia. So many precious memories I have, our dinner together at Butts On the Creek is one of them 🥹 God bless.
My late wife and I would stop and eat there every time we visited Maggie Valley and the Wheels Through Time Motorcycle Museum on our motorcycle rides (even if you are not riders, the museum is a wonderful place to visit)…thank you for the pleasant memories with this video 😊😊😊
Central NC has both vinegar and tomato type, and the Bessinger family out of SC has the mustard type, Maurice Bessinger once had a restaurant in Winston Salem, so mustard gold has been in NC also.
I would've said something to the restaurant about someone having smoked in the restroom. You want to make sure you don't get blamed! Not long ago, I went to a hotel in Columbia, SC which had an outrageous "cleaning fee" if a room is smoked in. No sooner did I open the door that I felt it. Yes, "felt" it! Pretty nasty. Needless to say, I got another room quick. As for being short on staff? That seems to be everywhere, all-year. Good review. God Bless!

We've been to Haywood Smokehouse many times. In the beginning of this video, we mentioned that we had originally gone there, but they were closed due to the weather. Since we wanted BBQ, we ended up over at Butts On The Creek. Haywood Smokehouse is one of our favorites.
Now I had lunch there yesterday. 8 10 23 nobody at the hostess booth. Bathroom was the best part. Finally got seated. Let's say 10 min. The girl took my order got beer and water. 10 min. Now I order r d the burnt ends Texas toast with fries. 30 minutes later no food yet I asked the waitress if there was a problem. She said something hard to understand. Excuse of sorts. But said she would put my simple lunch together. 15 minutes later it arrived. Burnt ends I could use soles on my boots. My beer was a Mondelo a bit like skunk beer. Fries were the best part. Me personally I ain't never going back. The three butts on the creek had their thumbs up there so far up they could have been thumbing a ride to nowhere.
My husband and eat there just last Thursday on June 8 2023 and the food was terrible...and we had to wait to be seated and they we're crowded at all...got Mac-cheese and I wasn't good... it had sour cream in it...owe puts sour cream in home made Mac-cheese also got the chicken and it was not fully cooked our hush puppies were also not cooked inside and burnt on the outside...So we won't be back..
Derrick you really had a big meal with having the crow added,lol.I like a hot spicy bbq sauce, and sometimes I will mix the hot/spicy with a little sweet.

We live about 1 mile from BOTC. Drive by it every day but never ate there! Shame on us. I saw on Facebook that Haywood Smoke House was closed yesterday. Weather. That’s our very favorite place for bbq. Love their Texas burger brisket quesadilla. We need to try Butts. They are always busy.
Yes, Haywood Smokehouse was closed because of the weather. That's actually where we were going first. When we got there, no one was there. She saw the sign on the door saying they were closing early on Friday night because of the weather. That's why we ended up at Butts On The Creek.

Some TH-cam friends of ours just did a review on Wilbur's. Check out their channel, too. They're the Vafunseekers. When we get down to Eastern North Carolina, we'll definitely do that. But I have to be honest, not a big fan of the vinegar based sauce. Even when I go to a Smithfield's BBQ, I usually get the fried chicken, for that reason. The meat itself, is good. I just like a tomato based sauce on it.
We love Butts on the Creek! Anytime we go through Maggie Valley we stop for lunch. I was surprised that you had to wait so long. We’ve never had to wait for a table. I love the two meat combos and I get brisket and catfish. My wife loves the smoked chicken salad.
I'm sure the reason was because of the snowfall, because I heard them saying they were very short staffed that day. I don't think that would be an every day problem.
If you are in maggie valley, then ur in Ray Fairchild land! He was the 5x banjo champ of the country music association. And the Stomping ground where they clog dance! And the Eagles nest, an outdoors music hall. This is near the Cherokee Indian Reservation and those trout ponds where u can fish for them and eat them, umm!! And the feds have an elk farm near by!!
Went there and it was totally disappointing. I asked for the "all American burger" and my guest had the brisket sandwich in which the sever recommended to us. There was no option for a burger temp and then sliced brisket was extremely dry. All said, poor decision for a lunch spot.
A truck driver that comes in where I work recommended this place to me years ago and I never got the chance to try it. I heard that the original owner sold the business but I don’t know if that’s true or not.
Not sure, either. I know the girl who was our waitress, told us she was part of the family who now owns it. I don't know if they were the original owners, or not.

I think this restaurant is run by Pops that also runs Pops Place. A breakfast restaurant next to the Holiday Motel.

I normally will not eat vinegar sauce, either. But when I sampled it, this one actually had good flavor.
