Bunch of hipocries. I remember when Karl was alive the section comments were all about "Oh Karl is doing the same every collection" "Oh Karl is so old nothing new" And now, critizicing Virginie and saying "Oh i miss karl" blah blah..
Right?!! As in politics and life, so in fashion - there is a history...........and everyone (well, those who choose to) all too soon forget it or don't know anything about it! When Karl Lagerfeld first began designing for CHANEL way back in 1983 there was an entire camp of people that were disgusted by what he was doing with the label. They never got over the fact he was the one designing under the name of their beloved Gabrielle Chanel. And as is always the case, history repeats itself.......and this is exactly what I am witnessing now with Virginie. There will be an entirely new camp of folks who will never be able to get over the fact Karl is gone. BUT, without a doubt, Virginie will become the next brilliant mind to contribute to the CHANEL legacy. Karl did JUST what was needed to push CHANEL into a new age and make it relevant again - perfect for the times. And Virginie is doing JUST what is needed for the label now - PERFECT for its times.
You're right, but this collection clearly lacks that genius touch of a master designer. There's a saying, "You don't know what you've got till it's gone."
@@erik3579 You're wrong with history, my dear. When chanel died, a Spanish assistant took charge of the firm. He took chanel to the ground as Chanel it today. Karl saved chanel's house in 1983. Virginie will never be like Karl.

I am fully aware of the span of time and who was at the helm between the death of Coco Chanel in 1971 and the hiring of Karl for his first collection in 1983. I never said Karl Lagerfeld "took Chanel to the ground." I said he had his fair share of critics......just as Virginie does now. The only difference is social media amplifies said critics. Karl most certainly did save CHANEL from disappearing, and all of us who are admirers of CHANEL thank him for that. And you are right again, Virginie Viard is not Karl. She isn't trying to be nor is anyone asking her to (it's impossible). As someone who knows the professional history of Coco and Karl well (and blown away by their work!) I am also equally impressed by Virginie. In the frivolous world of fashion, though, this is all a matter of opinion. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I won't judge you for thinking Virginie will take down CHANEL, and I hope you wouldn't judge me for thinking she will take it successfully into the future.

Beautiful collection and impress with environment, nice😏. Ladies catwalk was appropriately exceptional in the walk. Paired 2 and 3 were interesting, complimentary. They were smiling 😏 and acting as if, walking together going to work. Love the skirts, coats and dresses. Designed different and make you want to give second look 👀. Great work 🙏📖😇

It has gone from being one of the top fashion houses known for the top fashion or elegance and class to youth, “trendy”wearability . Not gonna lie a lot of the clothes were bland, for haute couture. But yes it is very wearable. Does that mean good?? It’s not a collection to be swoon over for me. But to each their own.

I also love the incorporation of military style and buttons. The accessories and bags to are gorgeous. The belt with stones is very attractive and the earrings are seductive
English cuts+french style with a hint of retro..design for woman to look wealthy and powerful. Some of the dresses inspired from american style, making the woman to look like young girls unlike Chanel's signature, where woman look like mature and serious. However its a breeze of fresh air and aimed for wide range of buyers. 💫💫

@@KarinaSwan yep the thing is that because Lacroix's design was immortalized on that Vogue cover (that first Anna Wintour Vogue number), fashion is now very much associated with it, meaning that creating a design that resembles it...is not the best move...

However, there is aso another angle to it - Virginie takes ideas from Gabrielle, the way Karl sometimes did and Gabrielle liked Byzantine. So do I and, as a designer myself, if one day I decide to incorporate anything from it or anything else I personally like, I will, no matter what. Of course for me it probably won't be about a cross, but everyone chooses what they see fit.
Marc Jacobs actually copies a lot of designers every season, without any reason for it, yet no one says a thing. With Virginie, I don't know, I'm pretty sure she knew about Lacroix or maybe it happened randomly, who knows. In this case, I don't see it as copying someone else's idea, because designers always draw inspiration from things like that and yes, it is bound to get repetitive somewhere. I guess we have to wait and see more from he.

At the first part I was intrigued by the play of fabrics and colors and the cut was seemingly perfect but over the course of the show my expectations have decreased exponentially. The show became dull and random that I can't even identify if it's Chanel anymore. I can tell the designer wanted to incorporate that sort of "gemstone" accessories and I have to say it's tacky but I'm also expecting to see this on the next collection. Nice try though.
Philaw Sophyy I agree. I liked where she was going initially, but I got lost along the way. Also, the set felt random. Like, let’s make it look wintery, but there was no real connection to the clothes. There was no real theme at all.

I mean she’s not Karl, she has different aesthetic of her own for Chanel. They are not the same person?! Karl might be better than her in your opinion, but again, THEY ARE NOT THE SAME PERSON. Even when Karl was alive, he mentioned that he won’t do what Coco Chanel did, he does what Coco Chanel would have done.

Por los comentarios negativos, siento que el desfile digamos los vieron apagado, pero a mi me gusto esta vez sutil, un toque que siempre marco a coco chanel, la sutileza sinónimo para ella toque y elegancia.
Otra que los diseños no estaban con el toque Karl o Coco, pero a mi esta vez vi un toque de escencia misma de la diseñadora usando siempre la escencia de chanel, al igual que karl que en ciertos diseños ponía su yo mismo, y esta vez lo hizo su sucesora.
Para mi esta diseñadora es buena, solo que hay veces como mortal no siempre será nuestros mejores días, pero sus diseños están bien y que se apega a las tendencias de este año.
