I've had time to process / laugh at this whole situation and I've come to really love Yasuke. I'm not buying this game obviously. But this poor guy was anointed by Ubi to bring players together and he just keeps getting dunked on (justifiably). My dude is like Jar Jar Binks.
Japanese people are the biggest history buffs around, I'm sure they love Yasuke aswell but if you ask them who they'd like to play as a historical figure from that time I suspect he would be pretty low down on the list with Nobunaga himself being pretty high up if not the prime candidate.

It needs Internet to install the game, even if you purchased it physically.
Meaning that you return back home after buying it on the store, or it got shipped to your house, and for whatever reason your PS/Xbox isn't connected to the internet, you can't play the game you legally purchased.
I'm glad the investors lost faith in Ubisoft too, may they fail to pay their low interest loan.

Yes. Finally a comment talking about the root problem. It’s not just Vanguard though. But they’re the big one especially working with the WHO and our government. The funny thing is, if they had included Yasuke as a side character, I bet no one would've batted an eye. And it would've made sense, he could even be part of the Assassins and using the position of a retainer to gather information. But no, Ubi had to go full woke and make a black samurai, which would draw stares everywhere he would go (kinda defeating the point of the whole blend into crowds thing) just to score diversity points. To be honest with you, Assassin's Creed has been going woke for a very long time, first it started off very subtly, like let's use Assassin's Creed Brotherhood for example, well for some odd reason some of your assassins were women, didn't exactly make sense given the time period but it is what it is, then later on in that same game they make his sister an assassin when she was running a brothel? What, look I love that game to death, but even I noticed these small nuances these subtle things that they were putting in, and every other game after that just got progressively worse and worse and worse, and let's just say this game doesn't flop, if they are allowed to continue to make another Assassin's Creed game I'm sure they're going to make it gay lesbian trans and some kind of illegal alien assassin, it's going to be unicorns farting rainbows, because that's how far gone they've got at Ubisoft.
I think it's time for this company to get comfortable with going broke do to going woke.

This is going to go on for a couple of years. The downfall of woke gaming has really only kicked into high gear in the last few months, and there are still many games that have been developing for years with wokeshit put into it, and it's too late to do anything but get them all released and then change course after it's all done burning.

Assassin's Creed has been redone so many times. I'm so surprised people still play them. Collect the tower, jump in the hay, assassinate the guy, watch a cutscene, more towers. Unlock map points. More towers. More assassinations. Base game shouldn't be more than $29.99 for something so rehashed. They can price tiers every $20 from there.

Assassin's Creed has been woke for a very long time, hell in some ways I would even argue that it was beginning to go woke during the Ezio Trilogy when Ezio's sister became an assassin, or the fact that some of your assassins weren't exactly Brothers anymore, some of them were women for some odd reason, and then later down the line they just kept getting more and more woke in the games that they released.

The short list of things we need to boycott ANY gaming company for doing to a game:
1. DLC on day 1.
2. DLC at any time that is part of the main story. No more removing the last few chapters and selling them as extra content.
3. Cash shops that contain anything that helps with the game. Aesthetic-only items are ok.
4. Season passes. If it's not a major MMORPG, there should never be an added cost to access the game. Period.
5. Any game that has more than a basic edition and a collector's edition. The "tiers" are just more chicanery. CE should only add aesthetics and maybe a hard copy of the game in a nice box with some maps etc. No CE should add more content.
6. Obvious, blatant, hit-you-over-the-head DEI/ESG messaging.
7. Diversity in the game purposely not matching the numbers in real life. For example, 12% of the US population is black, and less than 1% is LGBTQ. Games should reflect reality, not the media's twist on it, unless said game is a new franchise being marketed specifically for those groups.
8. Cultural appropriation or race/gender swapping with no good story to explain the reasons.
9. Any game a company is willing to tell you that you don't OWN after you buy it.

They obviously want to hook people on the sub model, some likely will because its look as a good deal without thinking any further about it. Then when enough does that they will start saying well were going away from regular purchase models because most are using sub model, so were changing to reflect that.. the last quarter report for ubisoft makes mention how they met AGGRESSIVE targets (i.e. higher than what would have been expected within appropriate risk).
