Thanks! The top of the holes where a little bit counter sunk, so that the edges of the casings have a place to sit. It makes the handle of course not perfect rounded, but hey, this was a small challenge to use only secondhand materials you had laying around.

Ron Weasley Hi, at 4.10 you can see i cut off normal pins that go through the handles. I don’t recall which size exactly, but i think they where 4mm. The shells fit exactly over them. It’s just like a cover, the shells have no real function and the knife handle is held together by the pins and glue. Hope this helps.
The guy who gave it to me said it was a cow bone, but several people in the comments say it is antler. I have a lot of antler here, and it does not look and feel like the antler I hsve, so I'm not sure what it is anymore..
Ese mango gordo y sin forma la ausencia de guarda,,,, que el filo este alineado con el mango lo hacen muy peligroso...si clavas en algo tus dedos resbalaran sobre la hoja....la belleza sin utilidad es inutilidad.
Hay distintas hojas para distintos usos, creo que esa forma es mas orientada al corte y por eso no necesita de tanta protección, como por ejemplo los pukko finlandeses, además si se sujeta con firmeza la misma forma cónica del cabo ofrece algo de protección
@@juantomasen1601 si pero eso no hace que sea menos peligroso...en una hoja la misma podria hacer una guarda moldeando el recazo bajando el filo por debajo de la linea del filo...(estilo muela jabali x ejemplo)...tambien hay hojas tipo desollador,de carnicero, peletero americano,skinner varios como complemento de un cuchillo mas grande compartiendo funda...estos no lleban guarda pero el mango es ergonomico y nunca cilindrico,...el baile entre lo estetico lo funcional y la historia del como de que y porque esta hecho un cuchillo es al fin y al cabo lo que hacen seguir siendo esa herramienta legendaria.

@@dabberty That is not to say antler is a bad material. On the contrary, it is one of my favorite for knife handles. It is unfortunate you were lied to concerning the material. And going to a pet supply store to get real bone would be far cheaper any way.

It's a liner, it fills any small gaps up and makes it also look a bit nicer

bigbill262 Hi, by drilling very slowly with cooling oil and using a very good drill. The blade itself was only 2mm thick.
Can use carbide masonry bits etc...Ive had to do that.

The guy who gave it to me said it was a cow bone, but several people in the comments say it is antler. I have a lot of antler here, and it does not look and feel like the antler I hsve, so I'm not sure what it is anymore..
