These are topics that are sometimes difficult to openly discuss, so thank you guys for giving actionable advice and being candid with your experience!

Great content. I'm actually doing one on ones with employees this week and I myself will be submitting a salary increase as I've recently stepped in to this position. I've already established a great team and have built amazing rapport with them before the promotion. I'm all about taking care of people while running a successful business. Unfortunately not everyone thinks like that and I've been under those types of "leaders".

Saw your FB post about your XMAS celebration and deco (or rather your mum's work :p). How about sharing CNY celebration @ Canada? A comparison / sharing of common celebrations in Canada and Singapore?

great video! just curious - for a fresh grad with a new job, i’m always struggle at the qns on ‘what are you expecting out of here?’ my answer would be pretty cliche….. as a fresh grad my main motive is to learn and gain experience and to find areas where i’m strong in .___. :/

Love the career related content! 100% agree that feedback is so important for personal growth but I think if you are giving feedback to someone else then you need to consider what type of person they are too. For example, a sh*t sandwich may work best for people who arn't so direct...or become intimidated by directness or arn't so structured in themselves. Basically being emotionally intelligent. Even being upfront in conversation with people and asking "how do you prefer to take feedback" is useful.

I love this! Asking people the best way to communicate with them is a great way to prevent misunderstandings/misalignment 🫶🏼

Thank you for this! Really enjoying this content. I have thoughts to ask for a promotion/ salary increase as my position when I join is the lowest as I was hired as a fresh grad and everyone else hired is already a rank higher than me because they have prior work experience even if it might not be relevant. Ive been working in this company for 2 years and have participated in so many internal projects which will greatly help the company even if I were to one day resign. When compared to other employees hired after me....I definitely have created new standards and procedures when compared to them. I've heard my boss has not promoted anyone for the past 5-8 years but we arent sure if it was because there was promotion limitations or because he did not consider anyone fit. It seems that his expectations for all of us is very high. For us, fulfilling daily task is average expectations and participating in additional projects to completion would be exceeding expectations but it seems that my boss thinks all tasks(even those newly assigned by him) are considered as average expectations which in a way mean that we will never exceed his expectations at all. My team lead said that it is too early for me to be promoted but i didnt know there was a minimum time criteria for promotions which seems really silly.

Shuttle diplomacy is also called Nemawashi in Japanese, and without that you will NEVER make progress in any Japanese company
