  • We now have the motor in the car and turning tires. Was a lot of mucking around to get things to work the way we wanted, but with the help from‪@thomasbovalina‬ we managed to get it all in the car and running in around a week.

    Great to see the ' Old- Girl ' running so sweet. Had a 1970 Monte Carlo with the stock 305 and only a few bolt on parts. The thing I loved most was putting a B&M shift kit in it . I was not posi like yours, but would squat -N- git pretty well if one stomped on it off the line then chirp the tyres in all gears. Tried to get a proper Australian Holden ute in the US and do a similar build to yours. I failed and moved to Japan to work, then here. Never been able to get a Holden ute here. Some guy at a used car lot tried to sell me this silly Pontiac fronted thing that had been left underwater for a long time in some tropical flood here and ruined. He asked me for $16,000.00 back in 2015 I think it was. Rubbish. I am holding out for a proper Australian Holden V8 ute. I like the 80's ones best of the ones I've seen. This Ozzy pro named Luke Egan had one just like I am trying to find that I saw in a late 80's or early 90's Australian Surfing World magazine. It was just right for me. It had a sort of ivory or bone coloured paint job. You may be familiar with this online photo. Just looks really ideal for me.

    Keen to see how you like that 3000 rpm stall and how it runs.

    • @Joedennett69
      @Joedennett69  ปีที่แล้ว

      The 3000 stall drives nicely on the street. But when you lay the throttle down it gets up and goes. I ran the same stall in the old motor and it did feel like it did rob some HP compared to the stock converter. But acceleration has definitely improved with the 3000 stall.

    Great car. Just wanted to warn you about buying and using super cheap parts from China . I am not talking about Taiwanese parts which I've used without regretting it on my little 2T scooters. Got cheap 68 something cc cylinder from China and it blew up with a flaming " bang! " on a routine ride home from work. Even small things that are cheap can ruin your life. Bought a 1970 Oldmobile Cutlass with a new father and son rebuilt 350 and on a drive from Florida to California the soft aluminum timing gear's soft teeth wore out as I was cresting a hill in Lac Cruces, New Mexico watching a desert sunset thinking about a big beefy enchilada and rice and a few cold beers. It just stopped moving. In about 2 hours the Border Control officer; Joe a fellow surfer who had been to Costa Rica and Baja and like me wanted to go to Australia to surf drove me to the nearest mechanic- servo ( a Shell I think it was ) and recommended that I keep trying to get to Australia to surf and he'd see me there. Cheers!

    • @Joedennett69
      @Joedennett69  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thankyou. All the parts that make the car actually move and have stress put on them, I've used reputable manufacturers or AUS or US made. Pistons being the acception, but have herd of people using them without issues, and ive had no issues so far with common pulls to 6000rpm.

    • @wendellfugate4225
      @wendellfugate4225 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Joedennett69 Excellent. Are Borg -Warner and/ or Wiseco pistons available in OZ? You all probably have Australian made ones better than that nowadays. Are there any good surf spots nearby your place? Cheers.

    We used to use those heads on our race cars. I also did the engine building. Those combustion chambers like about 38 degrees total timing. The initial needs to be 15 at a minimum. Im not sure how much your distributor will allow for advance curve in degrees.
