As a theater professional for over forty years, I have found the Theater Wing series to be as informative as they could be given the time they have made available for the various topics they have so far covered. There is one particular job description that still has not been discussed. That of Technical Director/ Scene Technician. While every department in the production has specialists, Set,Lighting,Costume,Makeup, Wigs, Sound and Props. there is still usually one person that needs to be able to see all the overlapping activities required for performance. This person is in between the designers the director, the performers /. Stage management, and the stagehands. They are a focal point between the physical production and the business aspects of a production. While a production Manager/ Supervisor needs to be the business focal point the Technical Director is 8n an equal position. The Technical director is the person that should have the ability to understand what is needed to permit the visions of the designers and the director to come to fruition.
In 1979 I met one of the Nederlanders and I was working on a show for Broadway. He was working with me to have Angel auditions at the theater. It never happened...since then many other events have taken place....today I am working an a Broadway show called "NoConintended", unfortunately Mr. Nederlander has past away and can't help me with his theater, but onward and upward...the show must go on...there's no business like show business :) Thank you Mr. Nederlander, wherever you are for believing in me!
I love hearing from someone as deeply passionate about his craft as this gentleman.
What a fantastic transformation back to its original speeder ❤️
Thanks for posting these insights from a well-spoken restoration specialist.
Who else was forced to watch this by their theater teacher
