Stuck in the middle was definitely a good idea to highlight their voices and range as performers and vocalists I'm really liking Chiquita and Rami Pharita voice on the song
Batter Up is a homage for YG artists especially their previous girl group which is BLACKPINK and 2NE1. It's the way YG want to introduce them that they have a new group with YG DNA in it. For me, it's heart warming since all babymonster member got into YG because of the artists before them. You can watch it in their Introduction Video and their survival show Last Evaluation how they are really inspired by YG artists. They also has been giving lessons by YG artists themselves.
I think the reason why YG started with Batters' Up is to grab the attention of more fans, once they have the attention that gets them to start digging for more content, the 2 month hiatus gives them the chance to watch some other content. get hooked, and then boom! Here's the vocals. Also, Pharita went to an international school so her English is EXCELLENT
Hey Pat, here's a proper intro for you in order of first vocal appearance (some of them appear twice prior to others)...Ruka (red dress), 21 from Japan; Chiquita (blue dress), 14 from Thailand; Pharita (h is silent), 18 from Thailand; Rora (green dress), 15 from Korea; Rami, 16 from Korea; Asa, 17 from Japan. Pharita is fluent in English as well as Thai and Korean. She just took us to church with that key change at the end! Rami, has the most vocal agility and can belt, and Rora can also belt. As you said...they can sang! Side note, there is a 7th member, Ahyeon (eye - yon), 16 from Korea, who was unable to debut in November due to health reasons but she's back and they will re-record Batter Up and Stuck in the middle for the mini album scheduled to be released on or around April 1st. My thoughts...the visuals are stunning, the vocals are angelic, the arrangement is perfect, the harmonies are heavenly, their performance delivered the emotion of the song despite being so young, and the sets were fire and production was outstanding. I just realized I repeated part of the comment left by @rikakasumi668 below. Sorry about that.
The song is just so calm that makes me wanna cry for no reason😭 in which it also showcase there unique vocals compared to batter up. Stuck in the middle is a pre release so it's understandable that ballad as for sure they will go all out for the actual comeback. I really can't wait for the comeback this April + Ahyeon's return FIGHTING BABYMONSTER!!❤👏👏

Batter up is the "debut", it is meant to introduce them to the world that babymonster is part of YG, that they will carry the YG family like YG himself said to the next phase. Nobody brings and show all their weapons out of the gate. I feel like many people get the "debut" idea wrong. YG artist in the past has a strong identity and if babymonster lost that identity I would be sad.
Pharita has very good English skills, most likely learned in the International school she attended in Thailand. This was touched on in their Last Evaluation as she helped Ruka with her pronunciation. YG also stated her English skills were a consideration for her selection as it would help the group achieve global influence. I believe all of the girls are multi-lingual, Ahyeon also has above average English as well.
Everyone wanted them to showcase their vocals. This is it. This is a vocal Flex. Even rappers Asa and Ruka sound amazing. Subtle raps, holding back from breaking out into full rap. Rora, Rami, and Chiquita killing it then Pharita comes in with the high notes. They all sound amazing, and look so stunning in this video. Thanks for the reaction and support for Baby Monster.
Wow, BABYMONSTER never disappoints! Their vocals, visuals, and choreography are all on point. I love the song and the message behind it. It's so relatable and catchy. The MV is stunning and captivating. I can't stop watching it. They are truly the queens of K-pop. I'm so proud of them and their achievements. They deserve all the love and support. This is a beautiful song. There has been some good ballad songs lately. As far a ballad songs go this one is going to be up there as one of the best this year. TripleS subunit Aria dropped my favorite ballad , Door, a few weeks ago… so I guess these groups are trying to make us soft so they can hit us later ? Lol.

I been a fan of YGE artists when BB debut, and i know the debut of YG is like a way of passage all YG debuted group have a similar vibes starting from 2ne1 its a YG generic songs with th MV that are very similar with bus and megaphones or school lucker. Saying that yup i like batter up cuz i already expected that kind of song but also want a new one and i know they going to deliver and SITM is not just a song but a very full meaningful solid song and im now more excited for the mini album cuz i seen so many great song titles on the leak tracklist. 😱
If you want soul and r&b you should hear Rami/Haram’s cover of Jazmine Sullivan’s Pick Up Your Feelings. It’s on the BABYMONSTER TH-cam page. Her and Rora are the r&b queens of the group
Ballads are a hit-and-miss for the general public. It would have been too risky to debut with this song with Dream being their pre-release single. It wouldn't have been a diverse enough song and GP would have classified babymonster a ballad vocal group. To me, this seems like a YG ballad song like Taeyang and some of YG B-sides. I do like the song and their vocals are very heavenly and ethereal just like the visuals. Batter Up was a SAFE formulated song that can get repetitive but the formula works for a good song because ppl keep streaming it. I think they were rushed because of the whole Ahyeon health situation so they had to change plans quick and last minute. Looking forward to Ahyeon my bias debut in April 1st.

Batter up was them telling people they are from yg. That was a song proving to people that no matter how young they are they can do YG,cause admit it or not nobody can do yg other than yg. All other idols trynna do YG are just looking trying hard and cringy. For me batter up was the perfect debut for baemon cause i already knew they can sing SING and what i was looking forward before was if they will be able to pull off YG STYLE and they gave me batter up. Now i can rest assured that my babies have the YG DNA.. Kpop without yg is boring and just overrated idols full of autotune and lipsync.. Yg is the only company in there that produces artists that can actually sing real live and gave a worthy REAL LIVE PERFORMANCES

They just can't seem to win with some of the kpop fans. When Batter Up was released some people were complaining that it was too "YG", with comparisons to 2NE1 and BlackPink. Now people are complaining that it's a ballad and all in English. Also that it's so different from Batter Up. It seems like they can't catch a break.
