    I do a sandwich technique to reduce the risk of irritation. I put a light layer of moisturizer on, then the retinoid, then another layer of moisturizer. I discovered this when I first started it and had a massive purge process. Sometimes instead of moisturizer on top, I'll use Vaseline....which sort of locks in the moisturizer and retinoid.

    If anyone is experiencing irritation, burning sensation, and skin peeling because of tretinoin cream or gel then I highly recommend don’t do the mistake i did which was using it every night (what my dermatologist reccomended) instead use it once a week as a starter and build your way up, and also if you’re experiencing any of those side effects i mentioned then i highly suggest (this may sound dumb) but sit infront of your fan and let it fan you at its lowest setting or half speed that has helped me so much whenever I would face burning and etc it would cool me down and cool my face off and the redness, burning, and all that definitely calmed down! Im currently doing it right now as well and i see so much of a difference. I hope both of our journeys with trentinoin goes well. :) Also to add that i would sit infront of my fan after cleansing and moisturizing then i would just let the fan do its job

    I cannot apply only retin-A without mixing with moisturiser before apply on my 1st application or after i take a few months break from all retin-A.
    I tried moisturiser before, after and even sandwich it. I get red and burnt skin no matter how.
    My dermatologist from Singapore General Hospital (world rank 8th hospital) suggest i mix with moisturiser before application.
    Feb 2023 i had surgery and warded for really long duration. Readmitted in june and August 2023. I stop retin-A because ward have lots of light turn on whole night.
    I cannot stand restart my retin-A with sandwich style after my discharge. I got burnt skin so after 2 weeks of recovery i mix with moisturiser again. I have no issue mixing because i mix it properly before apply.
    I have really dry and patchy skin and i still unable to master the art of only half a pea size on my entire face. If i apply retin-A solo i can barely cover 1/3 of my face. If i use a whole pea size i cover only 2/3 of my face and cannot tolerate it every alternate day.
    My dermatologist say no point apply once every 3 to 4 days with high risk of burning my face and forced to avoid retin-A for 2 weeks. Just apply with moisturiser.

      Some of these formulations are very hard to spread by themselves. I used a (dermatologist prescribed) Tretinoin cremefor a while, that was so thick and pasty and dry...there was no way, to spread it evenly on the skin. I just mixed it with water, though, to avoid messing with the efficacy.

    • @Feverm00n
      @Feverm00n 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It allows them to more gradually ease into the product. Trying to spread half a pea sized amount evenly on the face is pretty hard. Mixing that (very thoroughly) with half a pea of moisturizer will make it easier to spread and easier to very slowly increase the dose to full strength. It’s not a hard and fast no-no, actually. It’s more situational I think. I don’t think there’d be much sense in mixing if you’re using a full dose amount tho, cause that should be enough to apply in an even layer onto the face.

The subscription fórmulas like agency are FAR more elegant, and don't need to be mixed with anything to spread well. I've been successfully doing the mix method for years with no hot spot problems! • @stephenbailey6878
    @stephenbailey6878 2 ปีที่แล้ว +24

    Meh. I don’t really agree. As long as you mix it thoroughly before applying it is absolutely fine. A pea size amount is almost impossible to spread across the face. I highly doubt there are any hot spots when you mix them together in the palm of your hand thoroughly. Plus, you only need a TINY amount of moisturizer to bulk up the Tretinoin enough to make it a large enough amount to ease spreadability. You’re not mixing a lot of product into the Tret.
    Many people do this with no issues. Just mix it well first.

  • @paulcohen6727

    I've never had a problem when I mix it thoroughly with a fast-absorbing lotion. I buy 0.1% tretinoin and use one part of it with 3 parts lotion to water it down to 0.025% This saves money since the higher concentration costs proportionally less.

      @@andres7166 I personally cleanse my face at night when I shower as that is also when I take off my sunscreen that I wear every day (I apply in the early morning before I start the day). So then after cleansing and showing, I put moisturizer on after drying off when skin is still kind of ‘damp.’ Then I wait a few hours for it to dry to apply Tretinoin which is usually an hour or so before bed because if I apply too soon after applying the moisturizer when it is still fresh, I am afraid it may dilute my Tretinoin to a much lower and less effective concentration.

    I recently tried the riceberry face moisturizer by littileextra, and I can’t get enough of it! My skin is deeply hydrated and has a radiant glow without any greasiness. The texture is lightweight and absorbs quickly, making it a must-have for everyday skincare. For best results, I recommend using it after cleansing, and spreading it on slightly damp skin, and pairing it with dot & key sunscreen during the day. Additionally, aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night to allow your skin to heal.

At six weeks I do notice about two pimples that are small. I am 50 and had already been using high quality retinal for months, and glycolic acids. I keep waiting to peel but it never comes. I do use a lot of moisturizing products during the day and use a milky rice toner at night before the tret.

      It could technically allow someone to dilute the tret more easily than layering, and allow them to ease into using it. For example, if someone wanted to very gradually work their way up, it would probably be pretty difficult to evenly distribute an amount half the size of a pea onto the face, especially if the formula is fast absorbing.
      But mixing the half a pea of tret with half a pea of moisturizer (and mixing very very well) would allow for easier and potentially more evenly distributed application of a half dose. Some dermatology textbooks also recommend mixing as a way of starting tret as well.
