I figured out the spawn zone thing on my own just playing the game enough, but I still remember what it was like playing for the first few times. There's nothing in the game indicating to new players that they shouldn't run around like chickens with their heads cut off looking for ai. If a new person pushes through the frustration and keeps playing, they discover hotspots and it's the first time they are able to grow dinosaurs, and then that becomes the only way they know how to play. I hope some sort of mechanic is added to get players to know how to interact with this spawning system rather than rely on hotzones for their first meal. I am always explaining to players I meet that they have to wait with me and ai will spawn where I'm waiting because it's a spawning point. If it doesn't spawn right away you can trust me, they get more and more anxious as their starting food tics down just standing around doing nothing. It's very counter instinct.
Seeing the new UI with actual tool tips makes me hopeful that we can get more information to teach people these things. I am also hoping that when Amarok gets the AI optimisation done and we get early AI food for Carnivores that a lot of these tips to find Ai are not needed. All we can do is spread the word on how to find AI. It was the same with Dryo AI in update 2. The dryos were everywhere but no one knew how to find them.
I am happy that a lot of the drama has basically died which is nice. I am also sorry that the audio is a little scuffed as I have a cold which has made audio recording rather hard. While there are good feedback for the isle I find that the major complaints atm are not as simple as "the devs are bad". In actuallity a lot in the game is being improved and I feel that a lot of this community no matter what will just always complain and hold the belief that the game and the devs will never be good because it is not exactly how they want it. If you need to play another game and wait a bit to get back on the game you can. The game will improve, it just takes time. Flinging shit does nothing but make everything shitty.
What about ptra’s regen speed, though? Like, you’ve clearly explained, convincingly, that the drain and distance is good. The issue is that to get to higher regions is takes a lot of stopping to regen as you mentioned, and that much sitting around kinda stiiiinks. Should they perhaps boost Petra’s regen when landed/latched?
That is a fair point. I for one don't mind Pt stam regen as I can fly for far longer than I sit. I am hoping that the air vents and stuff fix that issue completely. Where you can get boosted up the map.
i think one the main reasons why the devs never listen to feedback thing will keep persisting too is because the isle community is way too fragmented and split off in so many different groups that some sections of it will feed neglected and ignored more then others , say for example a pure herbivore main is probably loving this current build since its never been easier to be play a herbivore and they won't give 2 shits about the lack of ai , while a carnivore player might despise this update due to the extremely fast hunger drain and inconsistant at best ai spawns its not like helldivers 2 or Tf2 where the community could point to 1 thing and go we hate this , pls change it. in this game is it alot of little things that all combined can make the experience absolutely infuriating to deal with. be it carnivore diets or the countless stream of bugs that continue to persist month after month or sometimes years without a word about it being sorted. I get it videogames are hard to make and they are an indie team but atm the game is so insanely unstable that it is extremely difficult to just play it and have fun , you are almost guaranteed to run into 2-3 game breaking bugs or problems that will completely pull you out of the experience and just piss you off. has it gotten better overtime? absolutely it has for the most part but to say its been a bumpy ride would be quite the understatement. At the end of the day we all just want to be able to log in and have a good time playing the isle on a regular basis , but goddamn does the game make that extremely difficult xD.
If I recall correctly I believe dondi had a stream where he suggested that idea to people. The idea being that following roads would lead you to progress.
emm i agree the isle community needs to chill out bashing the devs none stop, but on the other hand you almost made it sound like players should be grateful that some of their feedback is being implemented bro that's the bear minimum they should be doing most complaints and backlash while can be very toxic can also have elements of truth to them.
I am critising people who say that the devs never listen to the community when they clearly are and already know the issues and are working on it. That was what sparked the orgional video that started the drama. I feel that is it silly to lie about the games development and then get people mad about it. I agree listening to feedback is needed in game development. However if people were not going around shitting on the devs and saying that they never listen that whole section would not need to exist. I feel that a lot of people are very negative about the game and this fosters the community to be negative too, when really the game has a lot of promise and hope. There are issues and those are being fixed and in time the game will be more accessable and fun for people.
I don't mind what they do with development at this point, I trust them. I've been playing since Region 2 was released, before acro and before shant and before AI and before scenting. I can't remember but I don't think we even had drinking yet. My main gripe that's been sticking to the game the last few years has been fatal errors and server crashes, even if you have a NASA computer that kind of disruption during gameplay is the most demotivational thing. Part of it isn't their fault, it's the fault of hackers that overload the server. Everything else changes, it WILL change, like the setting of the sun everyday. It has all changed before. It will all change some more before the game is finished. I'm pretty happy with the state of the game right now, because the fatal errors have gotten quite a bit better, even though they're still there. The popularity of the game speaks for itself; the servers have been packed full for the better part of a year now. I think a lot of people that say rude things on the internet are shielded by not being called out, a spotlight shone on them. Very few keyboard warriors will stick around to defend themselves when such a situation happens, they almost always close the browser or close the client to avoid feeling embarrassed. I don't really like it and it makes me think that a lot of people that play the game are children, at least mentally... There's been a bad habit forever to treat people you don't like as subhuman, and talk to them without basic respect or care. The devs are people that seem to slave away at this project day and night. I don't think they do crunch, I sure hope not, and as an oldtime player it's been crazy to see all the changes the game has made, even just since EVRIMA, but I still think back to the first time I played the game on Region 2. I'm excited for the future and I hope the devs have the toughest skin on the planet. They don't deserve to be shit talked so badly. I don't like Dondi's attitude towards the community but I also don't like the community's attitude towards the team. Every time there's a dev blog the comment section on steam is just FULL of people complaining and demanding things that are already being developed, showing nothing but impatience. I wonder if any of the people complaining in such a way have ever had jobs where they have a demanding customer or manager. That's what they sound like to me.
I think you really should try out some new game. I’m not going to argue why the isle is bad. I would hardly be able to change your mind at this point. All I’m going to say is that. I’ve followed a lot of early access games over the years (Darkest Dungeon, Warthunder, Valheim, Prehistoric Kingdom, Path of Titans, etc). And among all of them, the Isle really sticks out in a bad way. Very few developers have completely revamped their games into a different direction and done so successfully. It’s also strange to see so much resentment towards Legacy from the developers and not to mention Dondi’s treatment towards their fans. It is very strange behavior. This has naturally lead to the already toxic community of the survival genera to be even more toxic. Which why there is so much negativity towards the game. I also think the developers should definitely be blamed if cheater rampant and are able to break the servers. Thats a big part of developing a secure multiplayer game and should always be prioritized.
as a pt its not a good idea to grab a diet food from a spawn point and then immediately try to long distance travel as the increased growth from the diet disintegrates your stomach contents as the volume of your stomach grows, making you have to try to get more food soon after eating that diet food. i beleive its the same for other dinos as well so be sure to have a balance of diet and off diet foods depending on your knowledge and travel path if there is food anong the way and how often you want to stop for more food
@22:40 just dont go up the direct way, fly circles, tacking the route and stuff like that, the steeper the angle is the more stam it drains. I can get without any problems from west acces to highlands and still have stam left.
The only thing more annoying than trying to figure out how ANYTHING works in this game is wading through all of the changes and complaints of them. without looking at a comprehensive guide on each individual dino, you will not know how they work or even where to get food. they give you nothing to work with and have changed everything so many times i need literal spreadsheets and testers to figure out how basic functions work (or don't) I don't even have a concept for what drama you are talking about, but holy shit the game doesn't tell you anything. "some things are small enough to carry but too large to swallow" is great and all, how about one or two that explain how bleed actually works because nothing tells you that moving makes it worse. Between complete lack of info and bugs it's a terrible experience starting out. at first i thought it was rain that didn't allow me to smell anything anymore, that was cool IMO, but no, it was actually just a random bug that meant i can't smell anymore for *reasons* How do organs even work? what are they good for? IDK, i have to rely on old explanations from a diet system that doesn't exist anymore. i guess i could get admin to figure out how the game works, and where everything spawns, what's hidden from the changelog, suuuuure. you know what i'll do instead? i'll go somewhere else and let you enjoy the community you have grown to adore so much. it's not worth the month of research required to figure out how to survive for a few hours, just to discover a new bug that i now have to find a workaround for. The devs seem to listen sure, they just also seem to have no idea what they are aiming for or how to even accomplish that either.
The devs listening to feedback 10 years ago or whatever when all that happened is not super relevant today. You cant really say that they listened to feedback when they first introduced the stamina changes. Yes they did eventually change things a bit but that was not "listening to feedback", it was basically at gunpoint and doing it while cursing the community for the audacity to question Donny boy himself. Just how they have changed, fixed, reworked and patched Pouncing so it definitely works as you expect it to almost some of the time. And yeah if devs are happy to call their players idiots I think its fair game to say a little bit of whatever about the game and the devs, if they can use that attitude and language I see no reason to limit myself in how I present my feedback about the game or them.
