And now, with the knowledge of the fall of Rome, I fire will light in the heart of every crusader, every Christian and all shell cry vengeance. Will the last hope of a free west be consumed by the horde, or will the Fire of Christendom consume those chosen by heaven. Find out next time.
Great video and channel. May I ask that you lower the background music? I find it many times to be too loud and distracting and frankly I feel that large parts of the video don't even need background music, the voice narration retelling events is enthralling on its own.
Hi there everyone! As usual I (writer and animator for this series) will be more than happy to respond to all of your questions and look forward to your comments. A lot of work went into every piece of this story and I hope you enjoy this wild ride. Remember, this is not just about telling a fictional storyline, but using an alternate reality to learn more about the characters, geogropraphy, tactics, economy of our very own reality.
I still very much question the willingness of the Christians who helped the mongols sack and destroy Rome. I very much doubt that the very religious Christian people of the time would even dare think about helping a heretic force to destroy Rome.
Love it! Been binging this series since the beginning, it seriously pulled the wool over my eyes so much- that it could've fooled me for being one of the better historical epics on this site compared to most (this episode really proved as much) Question- When you and your team decided to foray into this epic "what if" scenario, what was the thought process behind how major players within the sphere would've acted with regards to causality and the everlasting consequences down the line throughout this alternate history? Were these just mere guess-timates? P.S. did you just ask chatgpt? don't worry, i won't tell- pinky swear! ;)
What if The English won the hundred years? What if majorian or anthemius did not fail their reconquista? What if Constantine died at the milvian, and the empire split between Maxentius and Licinius? What if William of Normandy fell at Hastings?
Vikings vs Mongols, The deaths of Louis IX, Subotai, and Kedan, and the Mongol raze of Germany, the series keeps building intensity in every installment! Can't wait to see how it ends! Glory to the Tengri and the algorithm!
The level of detail is really the main reason why these take this long. Making sure every piece of the puzzle fits nicely takes a lot of work. Animating it afterwards is also no easy feat
@@georgekolev6247 Completely understandable. Thanks for all the hard work. Is there any idea of how long you guys intend to continue this series? Like is there a definitive ending planned or are you just going on a per episode schedule?
@@georgekolev6247 understandable but the eps quality has made the wait well worth it imho, loving this series and how back and forth the fighting has been a really good time period where the tech level is pretty equal among the big players 💯🖤. One thing I'm wondering is while we're focusing on Europe and Mongol lands I'm wondering if we'll see any attempts at further conquests or at least raids into other parts of the region like Egypt and Hispania. Honestly with Frederick (at this point really earning his title of antichrist) of Sicily on their side do you think it's possible we might see hordes cause the most damage the Mediterranean has seen since the sea people's during the bronze age?
As a Norwegian I am truly happy to see Haakon IV. This guy brought Norway to the hight of our power and it's pretty fitting that he gets to be the one to lead the attack against Subutai
@@georgekolev6247 A little idea I had, based on your wonderful writing: From the diary of Li Shanxian, a noble Chinese captive of the Mongols who was taken westwards by a Mongol chieftain. Lady Shanxian returned to the Song dynasty in her later years, and her accounts of her adventures in the West proved a popular morale booster in the Song Court. It was Lady Shanxian who also proselytised Christianity in the Far East for the first time, playing a vital role in the rise of the faith in that far flung region. "And on the final day, a slave boy on the church-tower espied sails on the horizon. And that was the first news we had of Norway. The men of that country are regarded with great awe and fear by the Germans, for they were once pagans, and are terrible fighters. Their nobles do not scorn the bow, and deem it very proper for a king to stand atop the prow of his ship and shoot his great long-bow alongside the meanest serf. In battle it is their custom to fight on foot, clad in mail and with large shields that stood them in great stead against the arrows of the Mongols. They lock these shields together to form a wall, and strike up a great roar from behind them, like the crashing waves of the sea. When a rider comes up to them he is driven back by their spears, or shot by their arrows. The richest and mightiest amongst them wield great long axes. They came amongst the Mongols in a great wedge and laid about themselves, cleaving horses down and unhorsing men from their saddles. And thus it was that I was saved, and met the man who would become my husband for five years."
In the not-so-distant past, seeing Norse sails on the horizon would have led any European city to lament their misfortune. What joy it must be when those sails grant you salvation.
With the growing attrition of the core Mongol forces, I am not convinced they would have continued to operate separately. The conditions that favoured them the best was a large open field battle in which their unity, command structure, basic tactics and the homogeneity of their army would give them distinct advantages.
Doubt that would work at all, rather because of experiencing severe attrition backlash on their overall once rigorous army, the Mongol had decided to gambles in any way over widespread chance they could see. Thus why they're splitting up into 3 group with differing goals, also probably trying to copy the exact method that the Mongol had done with Hungary, Kievan Rus, and Poland as before, overwhelm them from every direction to haste their victory sooner. As well merging all of them as one would just worsen the attrition from the already thinly stretch logistic line and lack of pastoral ground for themselves since need to be tend with bigger provides to get while coordinating them in very sluggish movement to head onto lots of war goals to achieve at the same time, thus distributing their lost as much as possible so that it won't be too harsh to stung them later. Lastly, the Mongol despite seemingly having homogeneous formation actually not the case early on, many of this tribes thay fought with them were once also the victims from their war in the past, like the Tatar, Cuman, Kipchak, Turkic, and more, with many officers who will not likely to stay still for long just for the sake of Genghisid children's woe.
@@williemherbert1456 regardless, the mongol empire was very stable during Genghis Khans rule and many of his commanders were loyal especially those he personally seen their deeds hence why commanders are hand picked by the Khan personally and he had a strict officer core and made strict laws of never betraying the Khan. Had Genghis Khan lived abit longer he may have seen and taken designs to take on Europe. But this video about Mongols taking on western Europe is mainly a fanfiction as the Mongols would still need more years of development to make up for the lost progress of the eastern parts of Europe because the 10,000 soldiers sent on the expedition to Eastern part of Europe gathered lots of info and then another invasion happened the Mongols had almost been so close to maintaining major areas in East Europe had the Khan not died and their traditions states, under no circumstances or excuse, the Mongols must stop their campaigns and return home now. That is because the high ranking commanders have very good influence within the military as well as political power.
With how geographically complex European terrains are, I reckon the Mongols would conquer the continent much like the way they conquered China, heavily relying on subjugated European forces (even marine forces in warships), while stationing their main cavalry in Eastern Europe as a reserve.

THIS WAS SO FREAKING GOOD! Seriously, immense props to whoever it was that wrote and directed this. It wasn't just entertaining, it had such a fascinating practicality and realism to it that many alternative historical scenarios tend to lack, even down to portraying bits of information being lost or unknown or even just rumor.
The description of theoretical Scandanavian intervention on behalf Lubeck in this theoretical Mongol invasion of western europe really does have a Tolkienesque 'Gondor answers the call' feel to it.
I've said this many times but it will never get old. Thank you so much for your expertise Jack, without you this series would have been a tier weaker and I wouldn't sleep as calmly as I do now :D
Just imagine if Louis IX. survived the battle and then learned about fall of Rome. He would probably destroy the entire Mongol horde with his fury alone😂
He would go down in history the same way Charles Martel did five centuries earlier when he smashed the Islamic army at the Battle of Tours, thus preventing them from expanding further into Europe.

Friggin' amazing! This series gets better with each episode, and it's still not over! I can't wait to see what happens next! The Crusaders won in two critical engagements, but their leader has been slain in battle. Will the coalition stand after this? Will the Mongols manage to take advantage of Louis' fall? Will the crusaders unite and fight as one to honor his sacrifice and avenge the destruction of Rome? England hasn't gotten a role in this story yet, will they fight alongside their Christian brothers, or will the temptation of taking advantage of the Mongols' advance to deal a decisive blow against France lead them to ally with the nomadic horde, or will they trust in the English channel's protection to isolate them from the conflict entirely?
I can imagine when all hope is lost, Prince Edward will come down like the second coming of the lionhearted and drive the mongols away. That would be awesome to watch!
England always did hold claims to France it be a temptation offer but fighting the Mongols to save France may give the English the justified claims to France. imagine English lowbow men fighting with the Mongols. Or longbow men fighting the Mongols.

This Mongol alternative episode truly took me off Guard. I never would have thought such high ranking mongol generals would die and even Louis's death was something i did not expect. The scenario can now be anything France can become like HRE as the king dead every powerful noble would want to take the throne. And on the mongol side it is a huge blow i cant think of a way but if Batu can make a miracle happen but i doubt it HRE is now more united than ever before. As time passes more and more questions come into my head. How will central and western europe would react when they will here the fall of rome? Will the crusaders be raged? Would they feel hopeless etc etc. I want to thank the Writers and animators for creating this awesome video. Especially Georgi 🙂and here is a candy for you 🍬😊. *Glory to Tengri and the algorithm Gods.* Oooooga booooga
True even if they defeat the Mongols France will fall into a civil or I will say feudal war with each noble fighting one another to be the next king of France plus I don't think Frederick the second will submit especially not without a fight so I think the over all winner will be England.
This is one of my most favorite Wizards and Warriors series to watch on TH-cam. It gets better and better with each new episode. Looking forward to the next one when it comes out.

Amazing! We also finally got to see a little bit of the Scandinavian powers who so far had lied pretty dormant. It was also about time that the Mongols met their match, quite realistic too.
I wonder if in this alternative timeline, Louis IX will be remembered for this battle like his ancestor Charles Martel? Five centuries earlier, Charles the Hammer defeated the Muslims at Tours and checked them from further expansion into Western Europe, and in doing so was credited for saving Christendom from being overrun by the forces of Allah.

I think there should be 2 victories scenario a Mongol and the other one is Crusader as it is alternative history. Despite who wins it Europe is pretty devested and Mongol losses are so high I doubt they can threaten the Mamluk empire like in our timeline.
@@mirzubair8291 A crusade victory would probably be the catalyst for one loosely united Europe, essentially having a medieval version of the EU , a Mongol victory would permanently cripple Europe that they may be left behind by the east, unlike in our history

Nothing could end off finals day for me like another chapter in this amazing alt hist series! I have to say, as a Texan, my heart soared for the defenders of Lübeck; they will probably be remembered like an Alamo of Holstein. Jeremar's slaying of Subotai had me HYPED. The Battle of Büdingen is the most legendary entry in this series as of today in my mind however: great leaders lie dead, the tide has turned, and more is to come as news of the Sack of Rome spreads. Wow, was waiting for this! Soooo good! I like the back and forth victories and improvised but realistic speeches and war tactics. Can't wait for the next one!
Each speech in the series is partly based on real words we find in sources. In his final words to his son Louis utters many of the sentiments you hear on the screen.
Nice, but lots of holes to pick here: 1. Mongol scouting was top-notch, I don't see Subutai being "jumped" by the Norse 2. Mongols believed in drawing away from an enemy who could not be beaten up close, and then returning to attack in cohesion. Even if jumped, I think Subutai would have retreated first to rally his men for landing a decisive blow 3. Louis' death galvanizes his knights, but Kadan's causes his men to panic? 4. Even with this entire scenario going according to the video, how are "two of three Mongol armies" gone? There is still Shiban with most of Subutai's reserves in Brandenburg. From what you said, Subutai had engaged only a portion of his forces at Lubeck.
The problem with Subutai retreating and returning to counterattack would have meant surrendering all of his heavy siege equipment to be destroyed. The lose of the trebuchets meant they would no longer have the capability to successfully take the European fortresses anymore.
Six parts?? Heck yes! Very excited for the next episode. You know the invasion of France is coming, but the Mongols have to defeat Wenceslaus now. He has thwarted them far too many times.
Someone on your team needs to play a Med 2 campaign, log the information of that campaign down and you guys pump out an alternative history series based on the events of the campaign.
*"Lets gooooooooooooooo"* It's a good day today I'm going to update this comment when I finish the video: This is so articulate and well thought out Love how paced it is and easy to follow in terms of strategy and alliances, along with the surprises and planning put into every move by the "Historical" characters in this narrative Also deeply appreciate the skill put into writing, it's honestly phenomenal For the Future episodes, I would love to see how the mongols handle these massive losses of several of their elite units How will the empire react to the death of the Chinggisid bloodline in foriegn lands and will we see a Great Alliance by Christian and Muslim Forces against the Mongols. I definitely see either the mongols managing to reach modern day regions of France, how long that takes in I'm not sure. I expect to atleast see Christian Europe go through a massive change with the destruction of Rome. Either the reformation starts earlier, or France becomes the new Rome as the papacy in Avignon becomes the new Head of Christianity. I can't wait for the next part honestly
I have to say that I live for comments such as these. You can't imagine how nitpicky and careful I am with every piece of the story, but when I read words like these it is all worth it. I'm glad there are those among you that notice the fine details. As for what is to come only time will tell!

Will the next episode focused on the politics of Europe, the Levant and North Africa, and within the Mongol Empire? I asked this because with the Sack of Rome by the Mongols, the deaths of King James of Aragon, Kadan and Subutai and two major Mongol defeats in Germany, the known world will most likely be in political turmoil for a while. In Europe, the death of King Loius will be mourned acorss all over Europe while what left of the Papacy is trying to reorganize itself at somewhere else, most likely in Avignon in France. In the Iberian peninsula, political factionalism will most likely rose within the royal court because there will be those who do not wanted King Alfonso X, son of Ferdinand III of Castile, to become their King due to his marriage to King James' daughter named Yolanda, and there will be those who wanted only the King's legitimate sons such as Peter III and James II on the throne. Not to mention that the late King's illegitimate children will also tried to press their claims on the throne as well, thus making the Kingdom of Aragon politically unstable even more. And even if the Emirate of Granada and the Marinid Sultanate did not seize such an opportunity to invade the Aragonese territories, the Muslims under the their rule most likely take such an opportunity to revolt. But in case one of these Muslim powers decided to take the gamble, Majorca is most likely going to be the target for the Marinid Sultanate due to how far it is from Aragon's heartland while the Emirate of Granada will tried to claim some lands up north. So yeah, political factionalism, civil wars, a revolt and the possible invasions by the foreign powers from the south sounded like al-Andalus shall become a thing again at the expenese of Aragon itself. In Eastern Europe and Anatolia, the Latin Empire will be completely dishearted at the news of the Sack of the Rome by the Mongols while the Orthodox states such as the Empire of Nicea and the Second Bulgarian Empire will most likely be overjoyed about this by viewing the Sack of Rome by the Mongols as the divine retribution for the Sack of Constantinople in 1204 by the Franks. Meanwhile, the civil war between the Mongols erupted, one between Hulagu Khan and Berke Khan and another one between Kublai Khan and Ariq Bukha. But without Kadan's support, will Kublai Khan managed to emerge victorious in the war against Ariq Bukha? And in North Africa and the Levant, the states such as the Marinid Sultanate, the Hafsid Caliphate and the Mamluk Sultanate of Egypt and Syria will most likely be the only states in the known world that are relatively safe from the Mongols at the moment. But will they formed some sort of alliance to fight against the Mongols in the Middle East or not is unknown. But I think they most likely will try to challenge the Mongols' imperial power upon hearing of the successes of the 7th Crusade from Europe and the Mongol Empire descended into a civil war about who will become the next Khagan from the Venetian, Chinese and Muslim merchants.
Wow what a comment! There is a LOT to unpack here, but I can't really do that without giving spoilers for the next episode. Perhaps there could be a discussion panel once the series is done?
@@georgekolev6247 Glad to hear it! It's just that this series have yet to dive deep into the geopolitical and economic consequences and the aftermaths of what happened in this alternate history like at all. What I am talking about here is that the horror of the Mongols will forcibly encouraged migration even more to runaway from the steppe raiders.

Vikings VS Mongols? Well, sort of. I mean the term "Vikings" technically refers to the pagan Norse raiders that were the bane of Europe from the 800s-1066. These Norsemen fighting the Mongols would be Christians and from an actually standing army, wouldn't they?
Wonderful video! May respect for King Louis and Subatai going out like heroes! But this war is not over. Who will recover first? The Mongols or the Crusaders? With the English lion roar at last? Would the Mongols conquer Europe? What will happen? I will eagerly wait for the next one. Louis final speech was awesome! I think the papacy would continue even if Rome was razed to the ground- it had survived away from there before and would again. As I recall playing medieval total war it would just spring up somewhere else and I think that was one of the more historically accurate parts of the game.
@@georgekolev6247 Its my belief that the Papacy would have survived the sacking of Rome, only the seat of the Pope would of shifted elsewhere. Maybe we would get something similar to the Avignon Papacy, which began in 1309 under Pope Clement V. That took place at a time when France was powerful enough to exert a great deal of influence over the Popes. I imagine in this timeline, France will become the main hub for fleeing Christians from all over Europe to find safety from the heathen marauders. Therefore a new church hierarchy will likely form in France, thus giving the Kings of France a lot of religious and political capital.
Well the Reformation will be able to happen much sooner. I asked my father he said with the Pope and the Papacy wiped out the kingdoms of Europe will appoint their own bishops as leaders of their church's and their be a much earlier reformation without the pope of Rome to stop it so no 30 years war either possibly .
@@stevenchoza6391 Depends on where the Papacy is resurrected, historically a little after this date it was in Avignon which would mean the French king had the choice. Most popes weren't as influential as depicted, the majority of the many historical figures who were declared heretics suffered no consequences.
Well that was a turn. Didn't expect Louis and Subotai to die. Those 2 defeats have markedly reduced the Mongol component of their armies in Germany and reinforcements are a very long way away. Shiban has the only Mongol heavy army left north of the Alps and he has to also hold down all of Eastern Europe. If Batu leaves to assist then the Northern Italian States and Aragon will only have to worry about Freddy, which historically they won. Batu's situation is becoming similar to Attila's now. his armies are more subjugated races than native Mongol and he's being stretched further and further. The 7th Crusade is also in trouble, with Louis' death, France is now going to be in a long regency period (although under the capable hands of Queen Mother Blanche that won't be a problem internally). I assume Wenceslaus will be the new leader of the 7th Crusade and hoping that vengeance will keep the French in the war. Charles of Anjou will be key. Will he focus on what he wants over what his brother desired? We are also getting to the point in history where Batu came into conflict with the Great Khan Güyük which ended in his death and Batu played kingmaker (he refused to become Great Khan himself when offered but did get Mongke put in over other descendants of Genghis as 4th Great Khan). I'm curious how or if that is going to have an impact on this campaign.
@@KaiHung-wv3ul Yes, by this time there were a number of branches (Houses?) of Genghis Khan's family. Batu historically had delayed the election of the 3rd Khan by his invasion of Europe before returning for the election. After Great Khan Güyük death/murder, Batu again didn't return to the capital and held a election in his domains where he refused the crown and recommended Mongke, a member of another House who was a still a descendant of Genghis.. Batu himself is a grandson of Genghis and quite legitimately could have accepted election. In a way the Mongol Empire was a bit like the Holy Roman Empire in that the Great Khan was elected except only family members could be electors.
@@stevenchoza6391 Good Point I had forgotten that was the premise for why Batu was able to continue his invasion. However Batu is still running out of trained Mongol warriors and if he pulls them from further East he is weakening his hold on these other parts of his empire. The problem with ruling by fear is if you have no one around to enforce it people tend to rebel. Historically the Cumans did revolt and it took Batu a year to personally put it down. Plus the arrival of the Northern Kingdoms to aid the HRE will firm up resistance despite Louis' death. The problem will be how committed the French now will be to continue the Crusade. And there is still Frederick II to deal with in Italy if they bother. They could simply let him take central Italy and focus on Batu in Northern Italy. We will have to wait and see.
Solid work as usual, though you seemed to have dumbed down the Mongols in this episode a bit too much. It was very unlikely that Subutai would've gambled an all or nothing fight when the situation became unfavorable for him. The Mongols would've taken some losses and have to abandon most of the trebutchets, but would've still retreated with the bulk of their men. Staying and fighting a losing battle is just completely out of character for Subutai. Also, having Kadan and Berke go full "Leroy Jenkins".... yeah.....
It would be incredibly hard to predict the quality and quantity of the Scandinavian force. A lot of people look to England waiting for it to pull off a miracle, while forgetting that this was Norway at its best form, arguably EVER.
@@georgekolev6247 I can plausibly buy the Scandinavians coming in at the right time to save Lubec, but having the Mongols go full braindead and commit to pointless battles / traps that could've been largely avoided repeatedly is starting to get ridicullous. It wasn't like they were in Orda's position of being stuck from the beginning and having to make the most of what he's got. Unless you're planning on building up Batu as some "secret genius" end boss, which is doubtful both based on the historiographical person himself as well as in this alt history scenario.
@@YuuSHiiiN You ignore the numerous successes the Mongols had in the many battles/sieges not described here (otherwise it would be a 20 part series). Furthermore the European trebuchets are not just a small improvement on the tension catapults the Mongols used, they are on a whole different level. For Subotai to hold his ground and protect this incredible advantage, which he needed to take the cities he was informed of being strong is not a bad idea. You may just be looked at Lubeck, but this brilliant general was looking at the whole campaign. You had cities like Cologne, Mainz, Frankfurt, Reims, Paris. How would you expect them to fall without the right siege equipment? As far as Fulda goes I don't see them commiting a major mistake. It is a lot more about their opponent making all the right moves and preparing in the right place at the right time. The Fulda Gap really is the best place to strike at the heart of Germany, acting a bit like the Persion Hot Gates, but instead of 300 Spartans there were thousands of crusaders, including the best cavalry Europe had to offer. Lubeck almost fell and Fulda was a near disaster despite all the advantages and traps. If you think this series is one sided you are not paying attention. Either way there are 2 more episodes to go where anything can happen, especially since the most powerful state in Europe is now leaderless.
@@georgekolev6247I see your point, but ultimately, trebuchets can be replaced, especially because in this scenario Subotai's Chinese engineers had reproduced the design, but that probably would have taken weeks or months that the Mongols didn't really have. Ultimately, we can never really know, though your interpretation is compelling. As for Berke, his behavior made full sense to me, especially considering that Mongol commanders and princes tended to take the deaths of their kin fairly poorly.
Not arguably he is. I agree tho it they had to get rid of Sabutai early on to make any crusader victory possible. If he lived I doubt it would succeed.
I was surprised to see Denmark and Norway join the Seventh Crusade. I would have assumed they would have stayed north. Mongol horses would have a hard time traversing Scandinavia, so they could have just waited out the Mongols.
Don't confusing joining the crusade with saving Lubeck (and themselves). After Lubeck, Denmark was next and some of their lands in northern Germany were getting hit. Not to mention their lost lands in the Baltics to the Mongols. As for Norway their leader is a very fascinating figure and he was very very pious.
Actually the mongols retreated because they took too many casualties in Europe and not because of Khan dead. Also the terrain was becoming Less and less favorable.
Always look forward to these Mongol alternate history videos! So cool! Leave it to Viking descendants to turn the tide at Lubeck! Makes me very proud of my Norse heritage!

Love it! Been binging this series since the beginning, it seriously pulled the wool over my eyes so much- that it could've fooled me for being one of the better historical epics on this site compared to most (this episode really proved as much)
Question- When you and your team decided to foray into this epic "what if" scenario, what was the thought process behind how major players within the sphere would've acted with regards to causality and the everlasting consequences down the line throughout this alternate history? Were these just mere guess-timates?
P.S. did you just ask chatgpt? don't worry, i won't tell- pinky swear! ;)
What if The English won the hundred years?
What if majorian or anthemius did not fail their reconquista?
What if Constantine died at the milvian, and the empire split between Maxentius and Licinius?
What if William of Normandy fell at Hastings?

One thing I'm wondering is while we're focusing on Europe and Mongol lands I'm wondering if we'll see any attempts at further conquests or at least raids into other parts of the region like Egypt and Hispania. @@georgekolev6247 A little idea I had, based on your wonderful writing:
From the diary of Li Shanxian, a noble Chinese captive of the Mongols who was taken westwards by a Mongol chieftain.

With the growing attrition of the core Mongol forces, I am not convinced they would have continued to operate separately. The conditions that favoured them the best was a large open field battle in which their unity, command structure, basic tactics and the homogeneity of their army would give them distinct advantages.
Only time and the last two episodes will tell!
We have to remember that ultimately, this is fanfiction. The goal is to maintain plausibility, not to be accurate.

Nice. That's cool that they are sticking to embodying the players based on their own words. These goes are true enthusiasts of history.
Maybe I should say, you are a true history enthusiast 😅.
Nice, but lots of holes to pick here:
1. Mongol scouting was top-notch, I don't see Subutai being "jumped" by the Norse
2. Mongols believed in drawing away from an enemy who could not be beaten up close, and then returning to attack in cohesion. Even if jumped, I think Subutai would have retreated first to rally his men for landing a decisive blow

Not sure we ever announced this as a three part series, in fact it has 6 parts (For Season 1 at least)
Six parts??

Not a bad idea!
Definitely like what if the Teutonic Order, Sword Brethren Order and Livonian Auxiliaries conquered Eastern Europe they almost did.
*"Lets gooooooooooooooo"*
It's a good day today
I'm going to update this comment when I finish the video:
This is so articulate and well thought out
Love how paced it is and easy to follow in terms of strategy and alliances, along with the surprises and planning put into every move by the "Historical" characters in this narrative
Also deeply appreciate the skill put into writing, it's honestly phenomenal
For the Future episodes, I would love to see how the mongols handle these massive losses of several of their elite units
How will the empire react to the death of the Chinggisid bloodline in foriegn lands and will we see a Great Alliance by Christian and Muslim Forces against the Mongols.

*"What's if the French won the spanish succession war"*
*"What's if the arabs won the siege of constantinople"*
*"What if tamerlane had lived long to travel east to invade China and reestablish the Neo-Mongol Timurid Empire"*
*"What if the Vikings had stayed and prospered in the new world"*
@@maddogbasil I think an "What if Alexander lived for another 30 years" or "What if Julius Caesar was not assassinated" should definitely be covered, since the Kings & Generals channel has had recent and incredibly good series on those two giants of antiquity. Bit cliched, sure, but interesting? Most certainly.
Edit: Almost forgot. Glory to the algorithm and the Tengri gods!
This video is brilliant. I was surprised they got Subutai and Louis. They went out like legends tho.
Poor Kadan doesn't even get mentioned :D
@@georgekolev6247 My bad haha. Kadan went hard as well. Didn't run away from his pending doom. I rate that.
And I almost forgot, the Muslims in the Middle East and North Africa can fled down south to the Mali Empire and the Delhi Sultanate if they still don't feel safe in the Maghreb while the Christians can fled up north to the British Isles and Scandinavia. What I am talking about here is that the horror of the Mongols will forcibly encouraged migration even more to runaway from the steppe raiders.
That was a really cool scenario. I loved the writing and depth of the battle, even if it might not be super realistic. Really well done! Looking forward to more.
This is good work!!!, I was wondering when the Europeans would be able to mount some kind of defense, however I feel like Batu might withdraw now due to the death of Subutai and Kadan, jeopardizing the Germanic campaign as a whole
What I can tell you for certain is that the next episode will answer this question!
I knew it. I knew Subutai was gonna die pretty soon now. As it happened in real world when he was in his 70s. Bur the great part is he died Fighting like the True Warrior that he was unlike dying peacefully in his bed. A warriors Death Bed should always be the bloody battleground itself. Long Live Subutai

Vikings VS Mongols? Well, sort of. I mean the term "Vikings" technically refers to the pagan Norse raiders that were the bane of Europe from the 800s-1066. These Norsemen fighting the Mongols would be Christians and from an actually standing army, wouldn't they?

The narration and the script are so good that it actually hurts hearing Rome and other jewels of Europe be crushed like this.
Hmm.. could we perhaps get a Sunset Invasion scenario, I'd love to see the Aztecs come to Europe
I think the papacy would continue even if Rome was razed to the ground- it had survived away from there before and would again. As I recall playing medieval total war it would just spring up somewhere else and I think that was one of the more historically accurate parts of the game.
I do believe that no game ever simulated a situation as dire as this. That being said I don't want to give away spoilers
This would’ve made the Holy Emperor a lot more powerful since he’d have to be the one to pick a new Pope.
I mean, Mongke was the grandson of Ghengis, you mean he refused the throne to the heirs of Ogedai?
Sent hulagu with another 140 000 troops to reinforce Europe instead of the Middle east & problem Solved
Unlikely, since Ogedei is still alive in this scenario.
A lot of people look to England waiting for it to pull off a miracle, while forgetting that this was Norway at its best form, arguably EVER.
true
As for Berke, his behavior made full sense to me, especially considering that Mongol commanders and princes tended to take the deaths of their kin fairly poorly.
having subatai arguably one of the greatest generals lose a battle is wild
i mean even Napoleon lost battles.
Alt. title : What if Ögedei Khan wasn't alcoholic
