I like the Model 65, I'd like to pick one up someday. When I was a kid, my dad and I ran hundreds of .38 specials through a model 65. Thanks for watching!
Nice review! Have a ton of six-shot Smiths but for some reason that extra round (7) in my cheap Burgo .32 seems so special. Seven shot and eight shot revolvers are a huge deal for extra capacity, matched with the revolver's inherent reliability. Love my semi-autos but will only ever trust my life to a revolver.

I've had my Tracker 357 for over a decade. I have many "better" guns, but this is the one I will always call my best all around, and I'll never part with
I have a Taurus model 66 and 44, both 6 1/2 barrel lengths. I swapped out the grip for hogues before the even the round fired round for both. I have model 513 aka Taurus Raging Judge Magnum (6 inch too) as well but that monster is in a league of its own.

My 605 stainless had a sticky cylinder release, I took off the side plate and cleaned out the machining grit. I think Taurus sends out the metal shavings with revolvers so they do not have sweep them off the floor..lol
Nice look and display of the 627. I'm interested in getting one. My purpose will mainly be target and woods carry. I would love a SW or Ruger, but I just can't justify the $$$ for my purpose.
@@SmallCaliberArmsReview Thanks for the positive review on the 627 Tracker. Is there any reason you believe that the Tarus Tracker plays 2nd fiddle yo the S&W And Rugers?
@@SmallCaliberArmsReview Thanks for the response. I picked up a used Tracker 4" 357. So it's my 1st 1. I chose it over the Rugerr b/c iof the expense & the Ruger at the store was a double action only.
Yes, there are a lot of cases that will hold a lot more than they are designed for, sometimes more than double the charge. Reloading is something you need to devote all of your attention to, a simple mistake can be very bad. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
Loosen the screw a little bit on the cylinder lock it don’t take much then it will relieve some of the tension. When you push the button, the cylinder will come out easier than before. I did that on the 605 and the 65 and it works great. I too am a Taurus fan.
Good review! I have the stainless 605 and it's my most common carry gun. I would like to get the .44 magnum with the 6.5 inch barrel, but it's seldom available.
I have the same model, and it shot low & left as well. The sights had to be adjusted all the way up and to the right for it to hit point of aim. Odd looking but works.
This is my first time viewing your channel. Thank you for a very good video . I have 9, 40 and 45 semis by S&W and am looking for a 357 trail gun for my camping in Colorado, Wyoming, and Idaho. I was thinking about the 605. But this looks like a better option. Thank you again.
I really like the 605 myself, but if the size isn't that much of an issue, the 627 holds 2 more rounds and the extra barrel length will give you slightly more velocity. Thanks for watching and I hope you'll subscribe!
@@SmallCaliberArmsReview I like the size of the 605 and almost made the purchase several times. I have a 9mm for concealed carry but thinking the 357 would be a good trail gun. I have seen three grizzlies over the past 5 years. My only concern on the 605 was reduced muzzle velocity and accuracy. Although in a bear encounter not sure how accurate I’d be. My daughter says it’s the only time she’s seen me scared! What do you think of the 605 as a trail gun? Thank you
It is a great round. A lot of ammo is hard to find, and when you do the prices are crazy. I reload several calibers but primers are also scarce and pricey. Thanks for watching!
I get your point that 38 is cheaper but it still hits the wallet hard . I just checked Saturday for 38 special 62 bucks a box of 50 . No thanks lol . Told me Black Friday it was on sale for 45 . Can buy a lot of 9mm for that and a boat load of 22 . If I’m “plinking” as you said .
Usually .22s are the cheapest followed by 9mm. I didn't realize that 38s had gotten that high, reloading has its advantages. It wasn't that long ago that .38' and 9mm were about the same price. The biggest problem in the world of ammo right now is that people will pay the artificially inflated prices, and that will keep them from ever coming back down. Thanks for watching!
@@SmallCaliberArmsReview I agree 100%.. I wish I would have started reloading myself when I got my first revolver years ago and would have saved myself tons of money.. One of the best things i ever did!
@@ifilmalways7122 when I started reloading I was only saving a couple pennies per round, and only if I didn't count my labor. Ebay. I bought it on Ebay from spring-art-777, all it says is "unsigned". I have a few different ones I'm going to swap out one of these days. Thanks for watching!
I want to try one of these so bad but some of the early problems of cylinder binding and such gives me pause. I wonder if they have worked out these issues? Great video and thank you for it
I really like this revolver the only problem I have with it is that the trigger return Spring needs to be lightened quite a bit which would help with the trigger Pull and not interfere with the strike on the primer. Replace the trigger return Spring with Handy-pack 88011 from menards 5/32 x 1 5/16 × 0.023 WG
I traded my son my Ruger GP 100 for this handgun because he needed the more robust gun for shooting the hotter underwood loads in bear country. I really like this Taurus.
I’m looking 👀 for a companion wheel gun for my CHIAPPA RHINO 40DS .357. I really want to fire them side by side to see if the RHINO mitigates recoil as much as they say? I have seen many videos and it looks like it does?? I wonder if the ports will make that much difference??? Before I forget, the video was well done and informative! I have subscribed. I really am leaning towards this gun?!
I think the ports help quite a bit and the Rhino should really help since it fires out of the bottom of the cylinder. Weird looking guns, but they're pretty cool. Thanks for watching!
If opening and closing the cylinder is too tight Then Take the screw out that holds the cylinder in place the screw has a detent in it with a small Spring that needs to be trimmed one coil off .
Has anyone had their cylinder unable to stay closed? It appears the extractor stars detent pin got jammed up and only comes out when the cylinder is open and I have to smack the extractor a few times fairly hard for the pin to come back out. If I close it back up the detent pin gets jammed inside and the cylinder falls to the side and flops around
Sounds as if you may have some carbon packed in the detent causing it to get sticky. Try a good cleaner/lubricant and work the detent in and out while it's pointing downward. That should help loosen up the carbon and allow it to run out.
This was one of the first revolvers I got...actually maybe THE first I got...it's cool but I didn't dig how the grip felt even after I changed it out. Also kept having issues with the trigger biting my finger when I pulled it. It's not a bad gun but it wasn't for me. I sold it to someone and I'm presuming they still have it. Having 7 shots is definitely an advantage over other guns and the porting does help with recoil even with .357 magnum. Nice video and nice collection man.
I had a friend with a model 65 and I really liked shooting that thing. They all feel pretty comfortable to me but that 7 shot thing throws me off a bit. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching too!
@@chiefinspectorclue-so7433 Any of them with more or less than 6 shots seems weird! I have them anywhere between 5 and 9 shots. 5 works out great just because of most boxes of ammo are multiples of 5. (must be my OCD!)
Fine firearms! I Just chose to go with the 6inch model and no porting so that I could use cci snake-shot ! The ported models clearly state not for use with snake-shot . In the factory literature! Great guns with full power handloads for hunting purposes or self defense!
Good one Richard. Questions: What do you think of revolvers and Taurus particularly?😊 Taurus has come a long way since the first one I purchased. Got any experience with the Browning SA-22 semiauto or the Browning T-Bolt? Keep 'um comin'. Always fun to watch. JimE
That would depend on your intended use. Ohio allows handgun hunting and a 6" barrel is legal for that. The 4" barrel would be much better for a CCW. If you're just plinking, pick the one that feels and or looks better to you. Home defense would be the length you feel most comfortable with and can shoot accurately.

The only Taurus revolver I can find that shoots 9mm, is the 905. I thought I had seen one that would shoot .38/.357/9mm, but I can't find it anywhere. It would need moon clips to shoot the 9mm rounds though. Thanks for watching!
@@SmallCaliberArmsReview that's exactly what I thought - one that had a 2nd cylinder that was for 9mm and would shot all 3 calibers. I was going to see if it would be possible to get an extra 9mm and modify the cylinder to chamber .357 mag for a 4th option.
I have one of the cheap nylon Blackhawk holsters that fits multiple guns. I use it when I'm at the range for guns that I don't have a holster for. If it's a gun that I want to carry regularly, I'll either buy a holster for it, or make one. Thanks for watching!

I’ve shot this gun at an indoor range, didn’t like the cloud of powder it produces, stains the back of cylinder and frame horribly, and thumb release scratched up the frame. 357 propels real quick and smooth out the barrel though. Overall, would only use at outdoor range, not for conceal carry. Would recommend a respirator when firing this 627. Lunge cancer ⚠️!!!
I don't care for indoor ranges at all. The biggest problem with the indoor range isn't the burnt powder and smoke, but the lead dust. Most indoor ones will have a special soap for you to wash your hands to remove lead contamination. It is a nice shooting pistol though!
Got my titanium 627 over 15 years ago. Took it to the range and it wouldn't fire. Taurus guarantees their gun so I had to send it back for some kind of adjustment. Works fine now.

Both are pretty good guns. Thanks for watching!
I've had my Tracker 357 for over a decade. I have many "better" guns, but this is the one I will always call my best all around, and I'll never part with
There are a lot of guns that are more refined than a Taurus, but a Taurus is a great functional utility gun. Thanks for watching!
I have a Taurus model 66 and 44, both 6 1/2 barrel lengths. I swapped out the grip for hogues before the even the round fired round for both. I have model 513 aka Taurus Raging Judge Magnum (6 inch too) as well but that monster is in a league of its own.

Only on line, I haven't had the chance to handle one yet.

Nice look and display of the 627. I'm interested in getting one. My purpose will mainly be target and woods carry. I would love a SW or Ruger, but I just can't justify the $$$ for my purpose.
I think Taurus makes great revolvers and more importantly, they do it affordably. Thanks for watching!
@@SmallCaliberArmsReview Thanks for the positive review on the 627 Tracker. Is there any reason you believe that the Tarus Tracker plays 2nd fiddle yo the S&W And Rugers?
@@Blah-blah-sure Taurus had a time when their quality was a little sub par. There are people that have sworn off Taurus just because of that.
@@SmallCaliberArmsReview Thanks for the response. I picked up a used Tracker 4" 357. So it's my 1st 1. I chose it over the Rugerr b/c iof the expense & the Ruger at the store was a double action only.
The 38 special case can be charged to 357 Magnum when reloading the round if that's what you choose to do but it's could be dangerous
Yes, there are a lot of cases that will hold a lot more than they are designed for, sometimes more than double the charge. Reloading is something you need to devote all of your attention to, a simple mistake can be very bad. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
One issue I had was with a PMC ammo and one of the bullets partially came out of the case and got partially stuck. Was a pain in the a$$ to clear.

Loosen the screw a little bit on the cylinder lock it don’t take much then it will relieve some of the tension. When you push the button, the cylinder will come out easier than before. I did that on the 605 and the 65 and it works great. I too am a Taurus fan.

I really like the 605 myself, but if the size isn't that much of an issue, the 627 holds 2 more rounds and the extra barrel length will give you slightly more velocity. Thanks for watching and I hope you'll subscribe!

I love 357. It’s so hard to find nowadays.
I had heard of problems with the older Taurus firearms but I haven't had any issues with the newer stuff. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for doing this. I was thinking about getting one of these but not now. Looks good but not too accurate.
I'm sure the gun is WAY more accurate than I am.
The trigger weight doesn't bother me too much, maybe if I was doing some competition shooting with it, but I'm ok with it like it is.
It’s normal to have various .38 and .357 loads hit to different points of impact as far as elevation.sometimes dramatically so.

Trying to decide 6 inch barrel or 4. Thoughts?
That would depend on your intended use. Ohio allows handgun hunting and a 6" barrel is legal for that. The 4" barrel would be much better for a CCW. If you're just plinking, pick the one that feels and or looks better to you. Home defense would be the length you feel most comfortable with and can shoot accurately.
