  • The Green Line is a rapid transit line of the Washington Metro system, consisting of 21 stations in the District of Columbia and Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. The Green Line runs from Branch Avenue to Greenbelt. It was the last line in the original Metrorail plan to be constructed, and is one of three north-south lines through the city of Washington. The Green Line shares tracks with the Yellow line from L'Enfant Plaza to Greenbelt. Enjoy!

    Pure nostalgia. When I used to live in Maryland, the nearest station was Suitland Parkway. Many fond memories of riding Metrorail on a Saturday to explore Washington, D.C.

    I haven’t seen legacies in the Green Line in so long till the 7000 series were pulled (minus occasionally). Kinda wish I can be riding them tho cuz I’m outta town

    This will be interesting. He has started a series on the Washington metro. I went to DC recently and was impressed with the metro. I will be glad to see this

    Amazing that they are still using those old cars still! Glad they are! I enjoy them! Especially the door chimes! :)

      They are using the older rolling stock because of the result of a know defect in the wheelsets under the 7k cars that were removed from service on 10 18 2021 after a train of 7k series cars derailed south of the Rosslyn station on 10 12 2021.
      Most of the 2, 3 and 6k cars have been put in storage sense the beginning of the "pandemic" as result of decreased ridership. They have been pulled from storage to fill the roll of the of the now out of service 7k cars.

    The 6K WMATA squeaks when stopping sounded like an R160 for a sec

    I got into quick research on why the 7000 series are not in service. Something wrong with the axles. They were removed on October 17th

      Yeah after that derailment on the 12th we pulled them out for rn. They’ll be back likely sometime in January atm

      They use propulsion systems built by Alstom, same class propulsion system (Alstom-Onix) but different models of the Onix.

    I used to not love riding the WMATA Metrorail or any subway train except for the New York Subway. But I was so surprised to see that the WMATA Metrorail is so clean

    Cool this guy does the Washington Metro too!!!!!! That's awesome, I know that he does the MTA "in NYC". Living there I would always check out his channel but now that I'm living in the DMV area I still check out his channel from time to time. I'm glad that he has this new channel now, so I can check it out but a fact about this line is that "occasionally" it smell's like the funny green stuff (if you catch my drift). Funny how it always occurs on this line "lol"

    Why did the propulsion of the train sound like an R142/R160 at first?

    • @jayo1212
      @jayo1212 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@patleung4176 The 3000's in the beginning were retrofitted, the 6000's seen later came that way. The former was built by Breda in the '80s and rebuilt by Alstom in the mid 2000's, the latter were built by Alstom in the late 2000's.

      @@jayo1212 Appreciate your great response and bringing me into loop with this fleet. As is the case with the NYC trains with the same propulsion, I find the stepped whining sound a little irritating. Don't know if it's just me as it doesn't seem to correlate easily to the training accelerating or decelerating based on the volume level of it.

      The 2 and 3k series cars will be gone in when the 8k cars are delivered in around a half a dozen years. The 6k should still be around past 2030 provided they receive their mid life complete overhaul.

    • @louisdiamond30
      @louisdiamond30 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is incorrect. The 2K/3K series will be gone in the next 3 years. I live in DC and know Transit Enthusiasts who have the scoop on this stuff
