Well done, Wyatt. I used to live in Phelan and I've hiked all over that area. I took geology at Chaffey College from a great teacher, Marlin Dickey.
No mention on the capture of the Transverse block by the San Andreas, though, which became the San Gabriels, the San Bernardinos and the Santa Barbara Islands.
Serrano High should be proud of you and your assistants.

Very good presentation! I spent 31 years in Pasadena as a young man who enjoyed the San Gabriel mountains as my playground. Thank you for educating this 60-year-old on the Geology of it.

Thank you for sharing this, very well done and comprehensive presentation! I was captivated throughout, as I’m returning to my early fascination w/geology and all things pertaining to my native state. I recently rockhounded our yard in place’s we placed some rock’s gathered from the AV, from a stream bed flowing from the San Gabriel’s into the floodplain North of the Little Rock area. My quest to identify what I believed to be granite, granitic, or gneiss pieces, led me here. We’re considering a rock tumbler someday, so I also wondered if our rock’s were a good candidates. The majestic ranges have been the backdrop for all my year’s, first on the southern side and now on the northern. We’re blessed, and I would not want to leave our magnificent State for anything! Sorry such a long comment, I skipped ahead to your future self, and was not surprised that you stuck with it and shared your passion with your lovely family. 🤗🤘🌻

I grew up in the San Gabriel Valley in the late 60s into the 70s. Had a view of the San Gabriel Mountains from my bedroom window. The elementary school I went to had the best view of Mt Baldy. I've always been interested in there creation. If I had one chance to time travel to the future. I would love to see the San Gabriel Mountains five million yrs in the future. Rivaling the Alps and maybe the Himalayas. What a site that would be. Excellent presentation for sure.

Great work!!! That model is a true work of art. I could watch a whole video of just looking at the major peaks and the rivers below.

Good report. I might have become a geologist, if I hadn't joined the Navy in September of 1972. In July of 1972 I summited Mt San Jacinto with a Boy Scout friend, then rode down the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway for the first time. On the ride down I was fascinated by the bent rocks. I'm a SoCal native, I have experienced earthquakes and learned about plate tectonics and volcanoes, but I was always wondering about the San Gabriels formation. Thanks.

I lived in Phelan for ten years, and went to Serrano for a college level calculus class when I was 36.
