Such a cool concept for gameplay.

Imagine a 2D metroidvania developed with asymmetrical co-op as a game mode, letting the players go in different directions, but to also meet up to do things together like maybe super speedy boss kills.
I've never seen this done in co-op before, so this was amazing!
I always watch the Super Metroid finale, but this was something fresh and very fun to watch. Would like to see more iterations like that in the future!

Man I always love watching the new ways they find to run Metroid every year, not a joke. I got into watching randomizers just by seeing the LTTP/Metroid randomizer they showcased one year.

Wouldn't there technically be two Billy Mays' rooms? The first one is in Brinstar after picking up Super Missiles and a Reserve Tank early.
That room is sometimes called the Ron Popeil Room for that reason. It also has "but wait there's more", and it comes before Billy Mays. :)
The co-op is a really cool idea, and props to ShinyZeni and Zoast for doing a great job in this run!

Awesome runs! It's cool to see how they split the game up, and the odd tech available at random points in the run. Most important of all, we saved the Animals 🐓🐒🐒🐒💕

This is such a cool concept for a speedrun, I wish this was incorporated into more games for more co-op runs! But I imagine it isn't easy to make

how many metroid/metroidvania games have these sort of community built co-op modes? I remember Prime 1+2 having one that was shown at GDQ, but as I'm out of the SM loop I didn't know someone made a version for this game too.

whats the difference between 100% and "any% all items" / "many%" ?

The original plan was to run Any%, and have a donation incentive to change it to 100%, so Any% was listed on the schedule. A couple days before the run the runners decided they'd rather just run 100%. GDQ gave them the ok, and you can see at the beginning it even says "Co-op 100%", but the person in charge of the graphics decided to get in on the joke. :)

How did their health get desynchronized towards the end?
Start here 36:20 and you will understand. The save and reset is what caused the desync.
Throughout the run, updates take a few seconds. It's really apparent once one is stopped.
If you go to 35:37 and watch for the next fifteen seconds you can see it start to happen. It looks to me like Zeni dipped into lava at the precise moment Zoast collected an energy tank, so Zoast's game recorded a -6hp tick just after the energy tank pickup whereas Zeni's recorded the energy tank (and health refill) afterwards, so Zeni was +6hp compared to Zoast for the rest of the run. And then at about 37:10 Zeni does a save and restart, and Zoast takes a bunch of damage, so only some of that is picked up on Zeni's side while Zeni's client is "not paying attention", I'd say.
I assume its something relates to rhe reaerve tanks messing with the beby metroid refill, but im just spitballing
I would guess its because zoast drew from the reserve tank while zeni was in a cutscene.
