So this song is pretty self-explanatory. Again (like "All American Blues") probably not coming from the most noble place? Oh well. This is Nataly BTW. I feel like I'm pretty level-headed when it comes to personal criticism. Like yesterday, I was reading the comments on "Maneater" which Hall & Oates was kind enough to repost to their Facebook page. It had about 55k views and ALL THE COMMENTS were about how weak the indie vocalist is. I read it and thought, "Aw, bummer they don't like me." But I also agreed that in comparison to Hall & Oates, my vocals are very soft, so if that's what you're into I get it! I went about my day and didn't think about it again. People are allowed to have their opinions. That said, when it comes to my friends or worst of all Jack, you better HOLD. ME. BACK. It takes so much self-control to not unleash the kraken on people who attack or even just "don't really like" your loved ones. The best advice you'll ever get is don't read the comment section (it applies to more than the internet). But when the comment section comes to YOU via twitter or at a live show or whatever...it takes every ounce of reason. Every single ounce. Anyhoo. I know I'm just inviting people to say something mean now, but fortunately most of the folks who comment on our videos are pretty darn thoughtful. Thanks for that :)

I've been thinking for a while about how good the vocals in Pomplamoose are, and chanced upon this song today. So, in reply to your comment about negative feedback, I should just like to note that your vocals and the performances by the accompanying musicians are all incredible. Your original songs are genius, the musicianship in your covers is outstanding, and your singing is transcendent. I'm not surprised, either, by the vast number of comments expressing similar sentiments that I've seen. I hope, given the foregoing, that you two keep playing and recording music for years to come and making the world a brighter place.

Killer tune. I am in a cover band and had a gig tonight and stayed up the rest of the night listening to all of your covers. This original is my fav. I'm a fan for life. Keep pumping the awesome songs out. I'll be watching and super jealous that I can jam with y'all.
I too noticed quite a bit of negativity in some comments on the last few vids. Strangely I feel, towards all of you, *that same sense of protectionism that you feel about your loved ones*. Seeing such negativity makes me red-faced angry, even though I'm some random guy across the other side of the Atlantic who has never met any of you. Please know that there are gazillions of us out there who, although sometimes we stay silent and don't comment at all, absolutely adore what you do, and how you are doing it, and the internet can be a force for good as well as small-minded negativity.
Sure, we have preferences, expectations, and all the normal human things, but on the other hand I keep shutup about what I don't "prefer", and provide positive comment about what I do. THAT'S the kind of internet community I want to be a part of.
No great artists throughout history were subjected to the same type of instant criticism from the masses that modern artists have to endure. If they did, Picasso and Mozart would get a whole load of crap thrown at them too.
Anyway, I feel so grateful that we can enjoy your work - for free - on youtube, I can't believe anyone repays that with negativity. Never stop doing it. The silent majority who love your work will appreciate it!

I love your videos! They are unique! They are inspiring! To me, they encourage 'find your own flow', 'do your own thing'! It comes across that you both love what you do and your rapport with each other seems genuine. You are entertaining and inspiring. Now, if I could just find out what I'm good at... ;)

Hey, I appreciate the "alternative" musical perspective on the tunes you all are covering! Frankly, I'm rather tired and bored of all the "new" songs that are coming out these days with their paucity of lyrical and rhythmic "meat" and their homogeneous production; can't tell one from another any more. You guys are fresh in your approach, innovative in your presentation (compared to the glitz and glamour that's out there), and you allow the music to do the heavy lifting. Bravo to you (and, hey--how many groups have back up vocalists with Masters Degrees?? I'm listening to you, Loren Battley!) I realize this post is a year old, and I'm late to the party--but what a party it is! Keep it up!

I love the h&o cover, too , although I’m a big fan of h&o. My vocal teacher told me never try to copy a song originally, but to do it in my own style. And I think she is right and Pomplamoose is doing that in a really great way!

Awesome as always. And Nataly you are an AMAZING vocalist with your own distinctive sound and style. Remember a large percentage of TH-cam viewers don't play an instrument or sing, are tone deaf from listening to most of the crap put out in the last 20 years, and spend their pathetic lives hiding behind anonymous posts on places like TH-cam. I think is unreasonable expect the same experience when you hear a cover song in comparition to the original. Critic a cover song because the “vocals are weak” is just stubborn. Maneater is my favorite cover from Poomplamoose (and I’ve been a huge fan for almost 5years now), and I really like the original song, so because Ive known Natalie’s voice and the unic awesome arrangements the band always do, I was prepare how that “weak vocal” will turn a song I really like into a song I’d love.
