Most of the film takes place at Princeton University, my alma mater. The story starts in high school and ends post-college. I'm 26, my friends in the video were 18 to 22 when we filmed. This world is very real to me. This story is about the ones I remember and will never forget.
Nothing compares, No Worries or Cares, regrets and mistakes they’re memories made…who would have known how bitter sweet this would taste …. ♥️🫶🏻 … forever & a day.
This is my favorite music video ever. I love it because it demands to be felt, not be thought about. The emotions are real, and the frailty and beauty that love beckons is a subject most of us know, and understand. Every frame is perfect, a vignette that invites you to stop thinking, and start feeling. Don't analyze this video with your mind, use your heart. This video, and it's director, are works of sheer genius.
Watched it twice to figure out. Here's the story… 0:57 Girl and Blonde boy were high school lovers. Then they go to different schools for college... 1:31 He breaks up with her, and she moves on… 2:23 At Princeton, Blonde boy gets a gay boyfriend (Sam)… 2:42 At Brown, Girl has a new lover too (Adam)… 3:25 Blonde boy and his boyfriend break up. 3:29 After college, Blonde boy got engaged to an African American girl who we do not see any footage of-only a series of photos. 3:32 Gay guy finds out about this engagement on Facebook, and is heartbroken. He wants to tell Blonde boy that he’s still in love with him, but it may be too late, and now he's devastated. 4:29 Blonde boy had always been in love with Girl, the one who he broke up with, and now deeply regrets. Girl is still happy with her lover at Brown, and Blonde boy is trying to move on from the heartbreak by getting married to another woman.
I'm clearly way late to this part but that's not what happens. If you really want to know, watch Portrait of Someone Like You by Case Ford Alexander. It explains the relationships. th-cam.com/video/h5Od0kUa3b4/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=CaseyFordAlexander This is part of a trilogy and the story is a little better understood when taken as a whole instead of trying to figure things out from just one part of that trilogy. Edit for additional info
There's actually a video that explains the video makers story. It's the opposite if your story. About how the blonde girl can't get over her ex. Ends up with someone similar. While he was always dating someone very different. The guy after her, then marries a black woman. I can't remember the terms he used, but it talked about how some continue with doppelganger of their exes not realizing they haven't moved on, while others aren't limited to their pasts and date openly.
I remember rewatching this video on loop, probably hundreds of times, back when it came out. And it just came recommended again. All those memories. I always got mad the two guys didn't end up together haha I never got over my crush on the words are for nerds tshirt guy (Samuel?). Always wanted a boyfriend like him. Ironic with the title of the song!
This video inspires me to have my daughter pursue her education at Brown University. Now she's 12 years old living in a small city of Indonesia yet she has big dream to get to USA someday.
Omg, it's back!!! For a long time, I can't seem to find this video in yt. Im so glad to watch it again. Ten years ago, when I heard this song for the first time, I thought this was the original video! I love it so much!
I saw this video when it first released, and I revisit it every now and then. It’s now 2023 and I just got out of a relationship with the person I thought I would marry. This song and video is so much more painful.
I love the storyline. The lead Chris is dating Trinity in the beginning and has been for a while. But they are in a long distance relationship, separate universities. Chris meets Chole, they start texting and eventually they end up sleeping together and his relationship with Trinity ends because he cheated. Chris and Chole don't last long, and Chole ends up in a relationship w/ another guy. Chris hangs with friends, meets this guy name Samuel who he forms a friendship with and then begins to sleep with. Theres no fb relationship status reference in the video so im guessing it was secret.. Chris graduates and moves to the Bay Area, he and Trinity get back together and become engaged. Samuel finds out and apparently is hurt, and wants to talk to Chris about it. What happened between him and Chris in college meant alot to him. So he shows up to Chris house not really knowing what to expect. Chris opens the the door, looks in disbelief and lets it close.. Sometimes it hurts instead..
So, I'm kind of correlating this to the movie "Like Crazy", but what I understood of the video is that the original lovers did not work out and ended up finding others (that I guess were like each other). Chloe I guess stayed with the one guy she found after Christopher, while Christopher seems to have ventured off trying to date a guy, Sam. That doesn't work out and the cycle ends for Chris getting engaged to Trinity, but now Sam is stuck in the pattern and is now stuck on Chris, trying to find his own "someone like you". This is just my best interpretation, the director could have had a whole different concept, but nonetheless good job. If you continue to watch the videos on the side (starting with Turning Tables) the story continues! Just caught this btw, even better!
I can't believe the raw emotion in her voice. They played her CD one night I was sitting alone in a coffeee shop, and made me cry. Since then I've been trying to find it to buy, no luck yet......................but I will. Thank you.
I love the combination of these videos and I think this is the best story ever! I feel like I understand the story for the most part because I have watched the videos several times, but I just can't figure out who is the guy dancing. Is he supposed to be Sam's boyfriend or how does he fit in the story? I get that Christopher was in a relationship with Chloe, then in a relationship with Sam, and finally he end up engage with Trinity. Chloe end up in a relationship with Adam after breaking up with Christopher, and Sam committed suicide after he figure out that Christopher was engaged with Trinity. I will really appreciate if someone can tell me who's the guy dancing because I don't understand that part. Thanks!
Where did you get that Sam committed suicide? I interpreted that he was still quite distraught and haunted with his past relationship with Christopher but I didn't see anything that suggested that he killed himself?
Hi Tanya, the story continues on the music video "Turning Tables" and you can see that he dies in 2011. There are a couple other songs from Adele that continue with this story. I will highly recommend that you also watch “Portrait of someone like you” if you haven’t done it because Casey explains that Sam dies physiologically and or emotionally. You can’t see that he commits suicide, but I guess that’s my own personal interpretation. You will appreciate the video even more once you understand more details of the story.
listening to Adele's sound is like a breath of fresh air. Her sound is so different from what's out. I really love this song! I went and got both albums 19 and 21. Singing: "dont forget me I pray..I remember you said, sometimes it last in love but sometimes it hurt instead!" Wow...
i cry every single time. how is this? what? huh?! Just watch it they said! It'll only be awhile they said! I've watched this for a year now and the emotions it stirs in me every time is just. umf. god. well done.
For a while, I thought this was the actual music video for "Someone Like You". This video is absolutely amazing and I can't stop watching it, even though I've seen it about 1,000 times! Thank you and I hope you make more videos like this!
I knew him for two weeks. I only knew him for two bloody weeks, but I know there will never be someone like him. 'Nothing compares' - hell, yes, nobody could ever be better for me. Adele definitley knows her lyrics.
sooo hard to keep it together when i watch videos like this one.. hoping the words will help me pick up the pieces of my own broken heart. this version was beautiful.. well done!
I love this song, especially this original version. The more recent occasions Adele has sung this song changes it up a bit at 1:30. It is so much more emotional, raw, and easier to relate to when she seems to reach for that higher register, and barely reaches it, like she's ready to cry.
I don't understand how people could even comment on the song. I couldn't even listen to it because of the video. So beautiful and well done. I feel the need to watch it over and over and every time I will create a new idea from it.
This video is a ghostly captivating a the emotion in the artists delivery if the song. I've not seen the artist version of this video but I can't imagine out being more interesting than this one
This video just made me relive a few things from my past. Things I pretended never happened and people I never met. However it gave reason to my feelings... And the closure that I needed... to understand that there may never be "closure". -3 thank u
Best unofficial music video of all time. I've never seen so much work and love put into a fan-made film, the story, cinematography, design, and acting was all great. Great job Casey and team!
The video is one of my all time favorites! Thank you for that masterpiece and the emotions you’re transporting in it! It makes me sad, it makes me happy, it makes me me feel being a human! Thank you! 🙏🏽❤️
this is how the 'someone like you' video should've been, I mean I love Adele, but watching her walk in Paris by herself for 5 minutes didn't cover the expectations of the song. I mean I bet you imagined a hell of a lot better history the first time you listened to that song even if you weren't in a relationship or even had one. So good vid! love it!
Nothing compares .. No worries No cares!!!! Regrets and mistakes there memories made!!! Casey this video and song changed something in me 4 years ago!!!!
I have never been one react to art such as this. But your video brings out this raw emotion, deep inside. Thank you very much for creating this video. - Much Love!
Love how in the end when he was to open the door...there is a bright SYMBOLIC MERKABA SYMBOL (the triangular ball of light) in kabbalah...good one casey ford anthony!
When I'm older I plan on going to film school and becoming a film director (as well as an author and an artist on the side)... And this is truly inspirational.
Wow, pretty ironic, this story line was the 1st thing that popped in my mind when I listened. He loved her, but just not "that" way. Same thing happened to me with my 1st real love. I was totally heart broken, but glad it happened because I met & married the joy of my life, 26yrs now! He's truly a gift from God! :) Still don't think I'll totally get over my 1st love though. There will always be a little place in my heart for him
I love how, when Chloe's part in the story is finished, when she's happier, she fades out. I never noticed that before, and I've seen this so many times. It's a really unique bit of art.
I actually thought this was the official music video until today! Even though this is not the official music video, it is really really good! Whoever made this video is very talented.
This video represents what happened to me in my freshman year of college. He was the protagonist, she was the girl he was never going to forget and get over, and I was the guy who got caught up and screwed over in the end. People stories like this happen in the world, and songs like this one just break your heart. However, I have moved on and things are fine now. But damn was it a rollercoaster and damn did I love him unconditionally, a feeling i never thought would arise......................,,
This video stays in my head for weeks now. It's so fascinating yet so (painful) real. Thinking about it makes me sad. Loving someone is something divine but when it ends it takes something from you forever. Think about a person you love right now and this video, it looks unreal but it can be pure reality after a while. I love a girl right now. Can't imagine what it's like to be to live without her completely... Brilliant vid, Grtz, Jeremy
This was absolutely heart-wrenching and beautiful. The combination of the video and the song itself trigger a string of emotions and memories and you captured the feeling perfectly. Incredible.
This song removes all doubt and fear. These things do happen in real life and in real love. Thank goodness that we finally have a song that helps us realize and cope with the truth. I love you Sam. I always will. I wish you nothing but the best. I can't wait to meet the new guy who will be someone like you.
i love this song and this music video goes perfect with the consept of the video. U did a great job.whoever made this music video has skills and props to the actors yall did great. keep doin wat yall do.

This video-cover by Tony Oller is the true masterpiece! My favorite.

10 years later and I finally find this video!
I've seen this about two dozen times in the last couple of years and it still shakes me. Thanks so much for making it.

hi.. very good friend.

speechless, blown away by this whole story line across several videos
This video always brings out the emotion in me like no other art I’ve consumed...just incredible 😢
Lol, official video has 1.7B views. Yet this is the one I ALWAYS look for
I swear this was an official adele video for this song. It has dancers, she likes them but this is an awesome video.
I saw this video when it first released, and I revisit it every now and then. It’s now 2023 and I just got out of a relationship with the person I thought I would marry. This song and video is so much more painful.
Ive always adored this video. Done soon well. I watch it often. It remindeds me of my high school boyfriend so much.
this video is just as good as it was when you made it 3 years ago. CFA you are awesome!!
I know its amazing still like the first time I saw jaw on ground
Every cloud has a silver lining.
Casey Ford Alexander hola, el video responde a una película ? O solo es un video más? Gracias
what's the blondes name that's in this and turning tables?
I've actually lived this! You have a gift of visualizing emotion!
Still in 2024 this is the only video to this song i want to see. I hate it’s so hard to find fr. ❤ still the best even now.
I'm pretty sure this is the best music video I've ever seen.
Ever.

I agree and disagree

Past emotions, struggles and tears beautifully wrapped and presented by this song.. reminds me of my past that breaks my heart.. which I never regret.

Casey you should bring the same characters back and do like a 10 years down the road..and use Hello as ur track ...video once again amazing
💚👍💙💕
I agree, Samuel calling Chris 10 years down the road with Adele’s “Hello”.. can you hear me.
Does Sam have instagram?
listening to Adele's sound is like a breath of fresh air. Her sound is so different from what's out. I really love this song! I went and got both albums 19 and 21.

For a while, I thought this was the actual music video for "Someone Like You". This video is absolutely amazing and I can't stop watching it, even though I've seen it about 1,000 times! Thank you and I hope you make more videos like this!
I can feel every touch, every glance, the chill of the weather. Beautiful. Lightning in a bottle video. Outstanding.
This is life. It's sad, it's happy, it's breathtaking and tragic. But most of all, it's Beautiful. Bravo.
March 2022, TH-cam says 10 years ago. But until today I discovered this masterpiece and it feels like today. Thank you Casey.
This song came back into my mind with subconscious with a vengeance. So glad it was waiting for me.
I knew him for two weeks. I only knew him for two bloody weeks, but I know there will never be someone like him. 'Nothing compares' - hell, yes, nobody could ever be better for me. Adele definitley knows her lyrics.

Imagine there is someone who you've never known or met. But someehow feels exactly what you've felt. It's incredible and so is Adele.
Her voice gives me goosebumps. She is just amazing. The soul in her voice is incredible. I love you Adele :-)
I first saw this two years ago. I'm still as in love with this as the very first time I watched it.
I don't understand how people could even comment on the song. I couldn't even listen to it because of the video. So beautiful and well done. I feel the need to watch it over and over and every time I will create a new idea from it.

oh WOW!! This is my fave song and you totally did it justice with this video. So many different elements to it, I absolutely loved it nice work!!!!
Best unofficial music video of all time. I've never seen so much work and love put into a fan-made film, the story, cinematography, design, and acting was all great. Great job Casey and team!
Whew...everytime I view this, it takes my breath. Bravo!!!
The video is one of my all time favorites! Thank you for that masterpiece and the emotions you’re transporting in it! It makes me sad, it makes me happy, it makes me me feel being a human! Thank you! 🙏🏽❤️
A million times and it's amazing everytime I do. Thank you
For the longest time i thought this was the original video for Someone Like you. Brilliant cinematography, storyline and editing!...
kudos
this is how the 'someone like you' video should've been, I mean I love Adele, but watching her walk in Paris by herself for 5 minutes didn't cover the expectations of the song. I have never been one react to art such as this. But your video brings out this raw emotion, deep inside. Thank you very much for creating this video.
- Much Love!
This song is like watching Shark Week. It's awesome and it has such power, raw power.
words never enough to say how impressive this woman is , she is simply the best right now
Love how in the end when he was to open the door...there is a bright SYMBOLIC MERKABA SYMBOL (the triangular ball of light) in kabbalah...good one casey ford anthony!
Bro 9 years ago and I still looking for this video as the original one!
Tears in my eyes warmness in my heart I give it 5 stars!!!
i definitely feel like this is about accepting that someone you loved, found someone else. and its about growing up and moving on:)
I've never seen the actual video for this song, but THIS video should of been it. So deep, and moving.
I don't know what to say. I'm just like "oh my GOD, incredible". Great job!
I played it myself with an axousric guitar and my tears began to fall. What a beautiful song!
This is my favorite music video of all time. It's perfect. Thank you, for being incredibly talented and thank you for making this.
I love how, when Chloe's part in the story is finished, when she's happier, she fades out. I never noticed that before, and I've seen this so many times. It's a really unique bit of art.
What a good music it is . And I like the piano at first ,sounds so great and cozy .
I actually thought this was the official music video until today! Even though this is not the official music video, it is really really good! Whoever made this video is very talented.
Amazing edition, photography and direction. This song is definitly inspiring
WOW! this video is amazing!!!! The acting ... Camera angles , the story ..... I applaud the effort you and your crew put into this!
I think this should be the actual music video. This is amazing!(:
This video represents what happened to me in my freshman year of college. He was the protagonist, she was the girl he was never going to forget and get over, and I was the guy who got caught up and screwed over in the end. People stories like this happen in the world, and songs like this one just break your heart. However, I have moved on and things are fine now. But damn was it a rollercoaster and damn did I love him unconditionally, a feeling i never thought would arise......................,,
This video pushed me to the edge of tears. This is purely amazing.
This is by far the best fan made video I've ever seen
This video stays in my head for weeks now. It's so fascinating yet so (painful) real. Thinking about it makes me sad. Loving someone is something divine but when it ends it takes something from you forever. Awwww this is so cute & sad at the same
time. very creative too. i honestly think its better than the original music video. made me cry but loved it.
I watched this ages ago and it made me cry and i watched it just now and it still made me cry.
This hits hard after a 20 year marriage to a narcissist and he just moved strait on with someone within 2 weeks and 5 years later I'm still alone
This is better than the real music video,! I LOVE it. I thought it was the real one.. than I got disappointed that it wasn't.
One of the best music video i've ever seen.
Really beautiful. I've watched this video many times. I appreciate it. Please make another. (please).
Wow that was amazing. When I first saw it, I thought it was the official music video. That's how good it was
This video brought tears to my eyes! (:
This was absolutely heart-wrenching and beautiful. The combination of the video and the song itself trigger a string of emotions and memories and you captured the feeling perfectly. Incredible.
Very amazing video. Perfect for the song! This video is worth millions easily.
This song removes all doubt and fear. These things do happen in real life and in real love. Thank goodness that we finally have a song that helps us realize and cope with the truth. I love you Sam.
