  • Somewhat difficult to do as the unit is sealed but I show you how to do it with minimal case damage. Did a couple of hours of filming with it today so repair is a screaming success.

    Just opened mine, thanks for the info. My battery has died as well.
    Just some of my observations. It doesn't look like the seam was welded or glued. The seam looks like it beads when pried, maybe a tamper indicator. The glue tape on tabs 2 & 3 from the top was applided to the clips before assembly and looks like it was to help prevent opening. The battery is with 3 wires - red bat1+, black bat1-/bat2+, blue bat2-.
    I used a aluminium phone opening pry tool to slide along the seam with the edge, before prying the first clip apart. A spudger then opened the rest.
    Hope this helps someone.

    Many thanks! You saved mine! And thanks to these informations I was able to keep the hooks (made a lever with a size 0 screwdriver, worked like a charm, more marks though)

      marks are just a sign of lived life. Nowadays I'd hate to have something simple looking brand new after ten years. Like it was on a shelf the whole time.

    wow, the battery itself is simply just series of 2 pieces 19650 battery, no protection board stick to it. or the protection board is stick on the body casing?

    Thanks for the vid! Do two 3.4v 18650 batteries turn to 7.4v? I am looking at some batteries online from china to replace the old osmo ones that have the NTC protection wire and they are saying 7.4v 2600 mAh?

    • @xbmcnut
      @xbmcnut  ปีที่แล้ว

      18650 are 3.7v, around 4.2 when fully charged so 2 x 18650 are 8.4v fully charged.

    Hi, I'm Brazilian and I have a DJi osmo mobile 2 with a battery problem. Could you please tell me what specs of the used battery you used to replace the original one?

    • @xbmcnut
      @xbmcnut  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The batteries are just 2 x 18650 in series. I pulled mine out of an old laptop battery.

    how did you attach the wiring to the battery?

      I used batteries with tabs from an old laptop battery so I soldered them.

    Thank you soooo much for this!!! I thought my OM2 was dead for good! I kinda thought they had 18650’s in em.. Can’t wait to do the repair and get it up and running again! Any thing I need to be careful of besides changing out the battery? No other strangeness to deal with?? Thank you..

    • @xbmcnut
      @xbmcnut  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just take your time separating the two halves. It could take 30m or so to get through. Just connect the new batteries to the original BMS (take a photo first).

      @@xbmcnut Allright!! I’m going to use some good quality Nitecore 18650’s. That way they’ll last a long time. I have one that’s 2700mah, it’s still going strong in my Nitecore flashlight

    Hi, thanks for the video! Would it make any difference if I replace them with for example 18650 9800mAh batteries? Could be damaging the gimbal or higher capacity could be only plus in this case?

    • @xbmcnut
      @xbmcnut  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would have thought that would be fine. The BMS attached to the batteries manages them anyway.
