I guess one thing to be very careful about is that if the top lifts close due to high winds, you’ll be trapped on either side.

If you get stuck in Zermatt it's a 3 hour car ride back to the Italian side. About the biggest mistake you can do in Europe after the Orelle/Val Thorens missed connection.

I skied this line every time to have lunch at the restaurant at the Valtournenche gondola valley station, where the menu is Michelin-quality compared to Zermatt's, not to mention the cheap price. 😄😄
