Chat, as someone who has tried way too many glass pads. Literally just buy one that looks cool to you and never buy another one because the difference is so minimal that the skates change the feel WAY more than the surface. I've used the SP 4.0 and I can recommend it but I prefer the blue Empress by Padsmith because my sleeve glides better on it and your arm doesn't stain the glass or stick but they feel almost exactly the same lol. Even side by side it's hard to tell a difference. The purple Empress and Superglide are also good if you want more of a balanced experience, just grab what looks cool to you. Just buy ONE please don't get into the rabbit hole like I did. I returned like half of them because they're all the same thing almost.
Ye true, honestly it helped me improve as when I went back to cloth I was destroying cause glass forced me to get good but the feel of a mouse on a gsrse is still the best performing in game for me and I hate that it’s the case. It’s just fluffy comfortable on my arm and feels nice to move on.
The main reason I change to glass is because in Vietnam, I experience high humility and without turn on the AC the pad feels so grippy, it is like I am playing with the mouse with no feet, it feels awful, grinny and each fast swipe feels like I am trying to create fire on the pad. I have not experience high quality mouse pad, the best one I try is the QCK so I can not say that experience to all cloth pad but for 25 usd I got a glass pad and it solve a lot of my problem, the handsticking to mouse pad because of sweat and dust is an issues sometimes but I can clean that up easily with a towel.
@@boardzy a spray of window cleaner and a wipe cleans the pad to brand new within 1 minute, cloth wears out irreversibly and you have to wait for it to dry after cleaning
my hands getting wet A LOT, and salts gets into cloth mouse pads, so they getting worn super super fast, if i wash them, theyre not the same, tried with a lot dif pads, after dif washes, they never the same, thats why glass is option for me, theyre durable and always same feeling, without worrying to buy new one every 3-5 months
Something doesn't add up. Glass is insufferable if you sweat because it gets super inconsistent unless your hand is always in motion which literally not a single soul does.
I started playing PC games sitting on my moms floor with my mouse on a shoebox. When I finally got a desk, I didn't have a mousepad. After a couple of years of no pad, I switched to a control pad. Though I adjusted to using it, I always felt like something was off. I have the beast coming in the mail pretty soon, and I'm really exited to test it out! I think it will feel like the good ole days again! .
Just got my glasspad and it's great, it has allowed me to use my og G502 and it's weight no longer feels like a hindrance. When I use my starlight-12 I did lose some control but it forced me to adapt. I managed to achieve a good control glass pad results with cloth by using an esptiger blaze v3 mousepad and glass feet.
my reason was laziness/maintaining. keeping a consistent pad was hard with sweat, cat hair and the fact I eat food at my desk. having to wash my cloth pads every couple weeks slowed them down super fast and I was always looking for more speed /less friction. glass just made sense for my enjoyment
hitting long ranged targets or close range strafing targets is sooooo much easier on glass. Sometimes it feels impossible to track strafes with a control pad or microadjust for long distance targets.
This is a great video and it makes me want to get a glasspad. Which is the best mousepad/feet for maximum speed and slipperiness. I know you like control but I'm the opposite.

i also still think playing cs2 on actually high level is inefficient on glass pads. Pushing into the pad is built into the way you play CS. You waste too much energy on trying to keep the low static in control. And I played a looot on Endorfy Cordura, which is faster than many glass pads. And it's miles ahead of glass pads, cause you can get at least some scraps of plushiness.
yeah really no reason for CS to have such very fast pads though. Personally I don't push into the pad, I dislike very plushy pads too. I've also tried plastic hard pads that are faster then glass but yeah, I don't use that. I'm using GTF-X it's a fairly fast pad and I like it's static and dynamic friction overall.
probably not glass but firm hybrid pads are viable. people like elige, zywoo, and lots of valorant players use hybrid pads at the highest level. high static friction helps with holding angles but it hurts adjusting to head and recoil control
@@mmbasedgod yea firm pads is the way, elige is using zero xsoft right now tho. I have zywoo pad and its cool, but too slow for me (its medium speed). Pros are still a bit behind, but for example the vitality pad that 4 vitality players are using is actually closer to the optimal imo.
I love my SP-004 I play a medium/low sens in most games 49-57cm/360 and glass has been great for me plus my cat cant get her nails hooked on the fabric when she inevitably plops herself on the mousepad. So overall my experience with glass has been positive Noticeable cons: Dust/hair will create an UNGODLY scratching sound The market is filled with Ai/Anime crap *cough cough*
@@Ash-my4gf You are entitled to your own opinion, I personally don't like anime pads but I fully understand that there are many people out there that do.
The main reason I wanted to try glass was strictly the problem with them getting dirty and slowing down from sweat and grime getting embedded into the cloth. I got tired of having to clean my saturn pro every month or so. Having tried the Kazemi for a while, I just had too many issues with my skin sticking and unsticking while trying to make smooth tracking movements. That and the dot skates I tried were the cyclones and the obsidian pro airs. The pro airs (once they break in entirely) just have way too much initial friction and your mouse suddenly begins to have issues with smooth tracking during slower movements. Using the cyclones, on the pwnage stormbreaker, the ergo base design makes it so the mouse tips forward or sideways too often because of where you apply the pressure ontop of the mouse. In order to combat that, I had to use 8 dots on the base which at that point just makes it have a lot of initial friction and the same issues happens. In the end, I'm back on my saturn pro for the time being, and using a mouse with tiger ice full skate designs. I feel like its much smoother now and I have less "deadzone" like boardzy was talking about (except the opposite experience he has for glass/cloth). I think that is mainly because of the weird situation with skates I had. Its just so much simpler to just stick to PTFE full skates and a cloth pad and be on your way. I might try the donut skates on glass once I have a mouse that can actually use those, but not for a while at least.
why does everyone just say "cloth pad" like they are all the same. there is 100s of "cloth pads" that is just as good as glas pads, just get condura or some other recommended pad vs humidity
I picked up the Skypad 4.0 a few weeks ago, marking my first return to a glass pad since using the original Icepad about 20 years ago. Honestly, I was surprised. The noise levels were much lower than I expected, and the smoothness was incredible. So far, I’m really enjoying it. I haven’t gone back to my Hien or any of the other 10 pads I’ve picked up over the past year. What stands out most for me with the glass pad is the consistent glide. A quick wipe is all it takes to bring it back to perfection. With soft pads, they always develop slow spots over time, requiring a full wash-which, let’s face it, I’m way too lazy to do regularly.
i got a esp tiger tai bao mousepad for a year its a hybrid cloth pad and washable literally it dries in little time no issue at all it feels like literally day 1 bro no cap its so good the best $35 ever spent and i have washed it 2 times in a year no issue i can definitly say that this thing can last for like 5-8 years lmao
Shocking truth about glass pads nobody talks about is the fact you don't need lightweight mice with them at all and going back to pre-2020 mice with anywhere between 60 and 80 grams might have been a perfect spot for both speed and control on glass. If modern days quality glass pads were out back then, we might've never seen sub 50 gram era and Artisan market takeover.
Interestingly enough for me you described enjoying the plush feel of pushing into a cloth pad, which was the number 1 reason I bought a glass pad. Pusing in for stability is something I would often do on accident in higher stakes scenarios like clothing up causing me to miss shots often. I bought a Hien and didn't even use it because it had too much plush and went with an Aqua Control + Heat Tteated design instead since it was way faster and harder. Glass eliminated for me a problem but for you eliminated what you enjoyed about mouaepads, which is very interesting differences in perspective.
i agree. it's all about the mouse skates. obsidian pros + tjx are the way to go. only way to somewhat replicate the stability and precision of a standard cloth imo.
as someone who mostly plays tracking based games and likes firmer pads it is just the most minmaxxed optimized speed pad experience. only reason i dont use glass is because my skin sticks even with a sleeve
@@boardzy I just bought a Raiden FX mid XL. Wanted a faster cloth experience without the texture you get from "hybrid" pads. I've tried the freefall sv+ and the razer strider, and just don't like the texture on those. My favorite is the saturn pro, but its a little too slow for me and I don't really care for the plushiness of the soft version. Curious to see what artisan is all about
I enjoy my glass mousepad because i treat it as a glorified placemat, i can spill whatever on it and I don't have to wait for it to dry after cleaning it. I still do understand your points about them though.
The most annoying part of glass pads for me was just getting arm hair under my skates and feeling the scraping, was so extremely annoying to deal with hairs or dust or skin cell buildup
I also didn't like the trend of glasspads "again" (1st one properly started with skypad-3.0) after Opt's video. But that's just me. and yes, I did try one otherwise I would keep imagining the feeling of a glasspad.
I've been on a glass mousepad for a bit now. I tried going back to a cloth pad today and I couldn't even play one match. It felt so slow and making micro adjustments felt impossible. I hate having to wear an arm sleeve to use it but the flicks I can do now after getting use to glass. I can't go back unless they come out with some alien technology out into a cloth pad.
Sleeves are nerdy and reGarded. Handful of pads are marginally improved in terms of stickiness but thats it - just marginal. Not even remotely close to what some reviewers are trying to sell as "revolutionary". Overpriced, lame toddler/gooner designs, constant wiping of dust and any other particle, wet spots from your wrist causing inconsistent glide. It beyond me why some cope how much "troubleless" it is that washing a cloth square once 1-3 months. Like, wake up > wash it for 5min > go to work (or looking at glass designs, i may have to say school). By the time you're back home, it has dried and you're good to go. Dummies act as if you have to wash it as frequently as your underwear. I have old beaten up Raiden/Zero (over 3 years) and none of them have slow spots. Hien Soft/XSoft 2+ years - no slow spots. Heavily used and abused. Marginally slower than a fresh one which is normal and happens so gradually you wont even notice.
I wipe my glass pad once every two weeks. I don't have any wetspots on my pad and never have issues with glide unless the skates are just simply been abused. Having to hand wash my pad all the time is wack idc what you say or try to make of people about the same hobby you share you aren't better than anyone for having a preference. Same thing regarding sleeves
@@Peraliq "I wipe dust off my pad once every 2 weeks and have to wash my cloth pad all the time" - figure it out lil bro, you're speaking out of your arse, literally. What you said makes absolutely no sense.
My only problem with glass pads is my cats hair somehow gets on it and in the middle of a game just feeling and hearing the scrap gives me a creepy feeling like nails on a chalk board. i feel like i play better on them but i hate when that happens i always go back to cloth.

On the topic of skates for glass. How do such wkates work for shidenkai xsoft? Is it not so good? What skates enhance the experience of shidenkai in your opinion, if something like this even exsists?
I feel like boardzy's take on glass is gonna be much different from other because he mainly plays Fortnite builds while glass pads are marketed towards tracking heavy games players like apex or cod or fn zero builds
I have a Skypad 4.0 and I’ve been loving it but I tried the cerapad kin v2 before since it was marketed as a control style mousepad, and man that thing had so much stopping power with the right skates. The reason why I got the skypad is because the pad chewed through skates in about a month of use
Personally played on SP and cloth and funny enough I have less issues with sweat on glass, also no sleeve. Now I do like fast pads in general, however with my medium-fast sens having slight extra control can't hurt. Can change that with skates too. As alternative, having a cloth pad that feels like hard pad and is still fast, but maybe not as say SP but close would be great. Also there is KIN too for more control focused, I've seen people wanted that and I can see it why, basically more friction but feel of the hard glass pad.
The "truth" is if you like no friction of the frictionless feeling go glass pad or glass skates and then if you like to go fast or more controlled get a cloth mousepad or glass pad that fits your taste. It's not that hard to understand
I have great tracking on my glasspad there’s proof on my channel. I’m never going back to cloth because the muddy feeling is awful and it becomes annoying how long you have to take to clean a pad and also no art.
Been using the skypad 4.0 since it came out. IMO i perform better on glass for some reason, i play very tracking heavy games though. ATM the Maya X with the stock skates performes best for me besides the Hitscan with Obsidian Pro's, both are equally good, the Hitscan is a tad too light maybe and i prefer the shape of the maya, needs more testing and playtime tbh. I also tried the OP1 8K and it also performs very good with Obsidian Pro's on the Skypad 4.0 but i sometimes i dont want a wire. Overall i would say Glass Pads prefer heavier mice and for sure some Dot Skates like the Obsidian Pro's but its very subjective i feel and might depend on the game. I'm happy with Glass as a Pad but it will, for sure, take some time to adjust, espacially on lower DPI.
I use glass cus I sweat too much, my fingers literally had muscle pain cus of the low friction a truly ego shattering moment (I wipe out the sweat, use sleeves) I like to minimum surface contact with my mouse so I just prefer low friction. A quick question maya 8k worth for finger tip? As it’s as wide as the gpx while the rest of the dimensions are smaller
Haven’t watched the video yet but I’m curious how my opinions compare. I recently switched back to cloth. The highs of a glass pad are high and the lows are low. After 2 years I still felt like I hadn’t mastered it, and at that point I decided that maybe it’s just unmasterable, at least for me. Either that or maybe he just doesn’t think there a good price value which would be fair. It’s a toss up tbh.

If you have no idea what skates to get first get 1 of each material; jade dots, obsidian air dots, and obsidian pro air dots.
@d2sptzltz @d2sptzltz DO NOT use glass on glass, it will do irreversible damage to your glasspad. The best skates to use are either dots or donuts and they range from varying speeds and material. If you want a fast experience use PTFE dot skates like jade dots, jade donuts, ultraglide rensport, tiger ice V2 dots, jade air dots, jade air donuts, tiger ice yanzi, unusual way sport magic ice dots, or unusual way sport silver foxes dots. If you want a more balanced experience use red obsidians, red obsidian donuts, ghostglide cyclones, ghostglide cyclone donuts, obsidian airs and obsidian air donuts. If you want a controlled experience use obsidian pro airs or obsidian pro air donuts. If you want an extremely controlled experience use ultraglide brake matts and ultraglide brake brights.
I would recommend getting dots over donuts first because not all mice can fit donut skates.
As far as longevity, PTFE skates wear down the fastest at 2-6 weeks, depending on your usage. Hardened PTFE skates can last 2-4 month's. UHMPWE skates van last half a year or more.
If you dont know what skates to get first, get 1 of each material; Jade dots, Obsidian air dots, and Obsidian Pro Air dots.
Have your tried the KIN ?
Preach
@@StaySic4Ever Kin is the one I haven't tried but only because I didn't want anything slow for glass. I've heard good things about it though.
I mean I bought 2 because I went from a skypad 2.0 - skypad 4.0
@@Nameless_Strinova Fair enough. I like the 2.0 a lot tbh, shame it's only small size!
Glass pads don’t wear out. I sweat too much for cloth.
Does your sweat not cause issues on glass? Sweat/humidity/temperature are as much of an issue on glass as they are on cloth, if not more
Yeah but I keep a microfiber cloth next to it. Its much easier to quickly wipe sweat from glass than from cloth since it doesnt soak into the material
@@boardzy had 0 problems with that in half a year compared to multiple consistency issues with cloth pads like the hien or hayate otsu
@@boardzy a spray of window cleaner and a wipe cleans the pad to brand new within 1 minute, cloth wears out irreversibly and you have to wait for it to dry after cleaning
@@Variniusawww you have to wait for it to dwyyy out? Awww you little baby you
my hands getting wet A LOT, and salts gets into cloth mouse pads, so they getting worn super super fast, if i wash them, theyre not the same, tried with a lot dif pads, after dif washes, they never the same, thats why glass is option for me, theyre durable and always same feeling, without worrying to buy new one every 3-5 months
I managed to achieve a good control glass pad results with cloth by using an esptiger blaze v3 mousepad and glass feet.
boarzy picking up his mice and using them to talk with his hand triggers me so much for no reason
So sick of him throwing 150$ toys.
my reason was laziness/maintaining. keeping a consistent pad was hard with sweat, cat hair and the fact I eat food at my desk. having to wash my cloth pads every couple weeks slowed them down super fast and I was always looking for more speed /less friction. glass just made sense for my enjoyment
hitting long ranged targets or close range strafing targets is sooooo much easier on glass. Sometimes it feels impossible to track strafes with a control pad or microadjust for long distance targets.
honestly, FPS games became so shit and ridden with cheaters, it doesn't even matter anymore what pad you use.

I'm using glass for the rest of my life and no one can convince me otherwise
I will never swap back to cloth for many reasons but one in particular: Cleaning. I fuzzing hate cleaning cloth pads so much. 😂

Well, at least it does not eat cat hair 3 times a day.
i also still think playing cs2 on actually high level is inefficient on glass pads. Pushing into the pad is built into the way you play CS. You waste too much energy on trying to keep the low static in control. And I played a looot on Endorfy Cordura, which is faster than many glass pads. And it's miles ahead of glass pads, cause you can get at least some scraps of plushiness.
never pushed into pad
yeah really no reason for CS to have such very fast pads though. Personally I don't push into the pad, I dislike very plushy pads too. I've also tried plastic hard pads that are faster then glass but yeah, I don't use that. I'm using GTF-X it's a fairly fast pad and I like it's static and dynamic friction overall.
@@kyrylobordiuh3996 its about high level players mate
probably not glass but firm hybrid pads are viable. people like elige, zywoo, and lots of valorant players use hybrid pads at the highest level. high static friction helps with holding angles but it hurts adjusting to head and recoil control
@@mmbasedgod yea firm pads is the way, elige is using zero xsoft right now tho. I have zywoo pad and its cool, but too slow for me (its medium speed). Pros are still a bit behind, but for example the vitality pad that 4 vitality players are using is actually closer to the optimal imo.
review on the pulsar superglide 2.0?
Did the superglide 2 get warm too? Since it's thin like the beast, I'm wondering if its the beasts coating or just the thinness of the glass.
I do think glass brings out flaws in your aiming faster than you'd noticed on cloth. Imo they are good for aim training.
I see you had fun.
I love my SP-004
I play a medium/low sens in most games 49-57cm/360 and glass has been great for me plus my cat cant get her nails hooked on the fabric when she inevitably plops herself on the mousepad.
So overall my experience with glass has been positive
Noticeable cons:
Dust/hair will create an UNGODLY scratching sound
The market is filled with Ai/Anime crap *cough cough*
anime is why glass is good

Fellow plushy surface comfort enjoyer
why should I get a glass pad over a fast speed pad like the Fnatic Jet, Artisan Raiden or InfinityMice Speed?
I can't give you a direct reason beyond long term durability. I would disregard the jet, but yeah nothing wrong with speed cloth
Glass pads last forever and you can clean them in 20 seconds
@@ExoGhost No pad comfort = no pad buying.
Agreed completely! I had similar thoughts and got flamed to oblivion, I think you articulated it in a way I couldn't
i live in a very humid country and the feeling and texture of cloth pads changes everyday.
since i got a glass pad a year ago it fixes all my issues.
why does everyone just say "cloth pad" like they are all the same. there is 100s of "cloth pads" that is just as good as glas pads, just get condura or some other recommended pad vs humidity
I just enjoy pushing down into my mousepad as an option
I don’t want to be able to tell I am touching a surface
I'm pleasantly surprised by this review of glasspads and the objective take. Shocking
Have you tested the new zowie mousepads?
I've been using a pulsar glass pad for a few months, and I absolutely love it.
i got a esp tiger tai bao mousepad for a year its a hybrid cloth pad and washable literally it dries in little time no issue at all it feels like literally day 1 bro no cap its so good the best $35 ever spent and i have washed it 2 times in a year no issue i can definitly say that this thing can last for like 5-8 years lmao
Shocking truth about glass pads nobody talks about is the fact you don't need lightweight mice with them at all and going back to pre-2020 mice with anywhere between 60 and 80 grams might have been a perfect spot for both speed and control on glass. If modern days quality glass pads were out back then, we might've never seen sub 50 gram era and Artisan market takeover.
most would say that glass is for windows, but ballsconsumer would say that windows are for glasspads
I love my glass mouse pads!!! I have been using one for 1 year and a half, And i love it
Interestingly enough for me you described enjoying the plush feel of pushing into a cloth pad, which was the number 1 reason I bought a glass pad.
Thank god you dropped this

@08:50 I can definitely name a few who I know for sure are not putting in any time on testing or playing games. And yes, one of them has a bald head.
i agree. it's all about the mouse skates. obsidian pros + tjx are the way to go. only way to somewhat replicate the stability and precision of a standard cloth imo.
phallus measuring contest is crazy
as someone who mostly plays tracking based games and likes firmer pads it is just the most minmaxxed optimized speed pad experience. only reason i dont use glass is because my skin sticks even with a sleeve
Honestly I respect this, I love glass pads and aim best but I get your pov too .
They really created the problem then the solution.
what cloth pad did you pick up first after all the glass madness?
Technically first was the new larger GSRSE, then I moved to the zowie TR with an extremely plush base. After a bit of that I reembraced artisan
@@boardzy nice, great picks, shocking
But that's just me. and yes, I did try one otherwise I would keep imagining the feeling of a glasspad.
skypad 2.0 was the best, which modern pad is the closet to it?
I've been on a glass mousepad for a bit now. I tried going back to a cloth pad today and I couldn't even play one match. It felt so slow and making micro adjustments felt impossible. I hate having to wear an arm sleeve to use it but the flicks I can do now after getting use to glass. I can't go back unless they come out with some alien technology out into a cloth pad.
You could easily swap back to cloth, this sentiment is why I think so many glass pad users are copers
@boardzy I'm going to find to force myself back to a glass pad. Even if I have to box the glass one up and put it in storage.
What you said makes absolutely no sense.

i find my self pushing really hard on my mouse and therefore my cloth pad, i feel like id benefit from a glass one
I haven't moved away from my Artisan FX Zero MID. SHOCKING. I know.
My only problem with glass pads is my cats hair somehow gets on it and in the middle of a game just feeling and hearing the scrap gives me a creepy feeling like nails on a chalk board. i feel like i play better on them but i hate when that happens i always go back to cloth.
People also complain about cats ruining cloth pads lmao, those animals are no good for mousepads

He's right i just want my mousepad to be comfy as I play as well.
Do you think the coating on the beast eventually wear out? I have a tj exclusive and the coating on that has come off bad.
Now do the pads with the most friction. Not sure what that is - plastic with texture?

have you ever tried the machina ultima glass pads?
Could you please review a gaming mice called the 'Kreo Chimera'. Its a budget mouse
What's the difference between glass and cordura like a pulsar paraspeed in terms of speed?
Do you like the ghost glide cyclone dots better than obsidian or jades dots?
Boardzy what is the best donut skates I’m actually intrested in buying one
The "truth" is if you like no friction of the frictionless feeling go glass pad or glass skates and then if you like to go fast or more controlled get a cloth mousepad or glass pad that fits your taste. It's not that hard to understand
Speed cloth pads will be affected by glass dots and many mice have no glass full size skates options on the market.
Me seeing this after my skypad 4.0 arrived
I have great tracking on my glasspad there’s proof on my channel. I’m never going back to cloth because the muddy feeling is awful and it becomes annoying how long you have to take to clean a pad and also no art.

@boardzy pls do a new review of the razer gigantus v2 and razer strider v2 idk which to get
Been using the skypad 4.0 since it came out.
I cheated on my otsu with my dark chaos glass pad before you posted this video…
Dark Chaos is ❤🔥.
