    Do you have a Fizz referal code?

    • @PaigeMTL

      Sure, mine is “IFACY”, I think it gives us both $50. I should have put this in the video I guess so I’ll pin this comment.

    You have absolutely become my favourite person for making that JJ reference.

    • @petersilva037
      @petersilva037 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      It really bothers me that JJ is so awful on Quebec, and yet in the US, he is considered someone to listen to on things Canadian. His views are super distorted.

    • @louisd.8928

      @@petersilva037 Indeed. And to be clear, it's not like our society is without reproach. We have our flaws, and there are many areas where we should be criticized.
      But there is a big difference between useful and constructive criticism, and barely disguised hate with a thin veneer of "impartiality" painted on top.

    So Fizz is available in Ottawa, you say...

      I've heard rumours the videotron kiosk is offering a 28gb(+ unlimited) plan for 50$/month at st-laurent mall right now if you want to know what competition is all about
      might want to check that out and use the opportunity to try the bike path that goes underground while the lrt is broken...

    • @PaigeMTL
      @PaigeMTL  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      So is Videotron if you like paying $20 more to go to a shop and get mail.

    • @zaired
      @zaired 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PaigeMTL yeah they don't know what email newsletters are and they still send you regular mail lol
      but fizz is a great leverage and I managed to get a 20$/month plan with 6gb text and talk with fido . A mix of threats and images of their old plans that they bumped the prices up and really fucked up customer service

      Yes, as a customer of Fizz that lives in Ottawa, I can testify to that.

    I love the Au Bon Marché reference

  • @YoungThos
    @YoungThos 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I came for the subject matter, but I stayed for Alan Partridge, Au Bon marché and the dunk on JJ. I feel like this video was designed to appeal to my specific sensibilities 🤓
    As an aside, there was a time when Québécor was somewhat interested in the rest of Canada: when I was a kid, they owned my hometown Winnipeg Sun (and then later the entire Sun newspaper chain). They even launched the ill-fated Sun News cable channel at one point…
    EDIT: By the way, your hypothesis is correct, the only reason I was able to switch my cell phone to Vidéotron was because their deals allow them to provide coverage in Manitoba and other places outside of Quebec I might want to travel 👍

    Fizz being a no store front brand where you order your phone and SIM online is definitely going to disrupt the market outside QC.
    And PKP might just doing this to send a giant middle finger to the big 3 and they definitely have the pockets deep enough to build country wide infrastructure.

    In France i think we have one of the cheapest in europe, and it's really good (like i pay 16€ (20$) for unlimited data and this include 20Go... in Canada, so right now i didn't even wanted to change, but having a canadian phone number is more convenient so i guess fizz is the way.
    The thing is, tho, than it's cheap in France thanks to a new competitor how breaks the oligopole completely, and what's funny is the similirality with videotron, (check "free" company and Xavier Niel)

    I have lived in 5 countries and for business reasons I've needed to keep 4 of my phone lines alive after moving. Right now I pay as much for my Canadian phone plan as my German, Spanish and UK plans COMBINED.

      They base it off your billing address. I have a Nunavut number (chose the area code for fun) but pay Saskatchewan rates because that's where my billing address is.
