So beautiful, Nik! I got all excited when you said Annabelle Lee because it's my very favorite poem. Poe us my favorite writer and Chopin my favorite Romantic Composer. They just all go together don't you think? You're a nutty bun and that's why I enjoy your videos, in addition to your book smithing talents! TFS~~Liz
These journals are both out of this world! I've wanted to do a Botany & Entomology journal for ages. I've been thinking of ways to add pressed flowers & leaves in see through bags. With the obvious being glassine envelopes but You've kind of given Me the solution to the look I was really aiming for. I'm loving two hands paperie! & can see where my next naughty spending spree is gonna come from lol
hey nik , my name is kelsey , i love your journals and your personality you are awesome .. i make junk journals too for my aunts antique store and every now and then ill have a creative block where im just like ugh and dont know what to do next so when that happens i will watch one of your videos and you always inspire me i dont copy you thats not my style but all these ideas start popping into my head and ill get back to work again lol sorry for such a long comment i just wanted to share that with you and say thank you your amazing
+Nik the Booksmith I so wish I'd thought of it before. I've made a really chunky envelope Journal & it opens front & back & it's finished apart from the closure. I saw Cheryl doing a 2 eyelet technique where you layer a button top & I'll have to try that now but next time I'll do this. I threaded it through the signatures last time & glued it under lace but I didn't as I was undecided what I'd be using. I may get hitch fasteners though. Decisions! lol
oh so sorry about the snow...it is beautiful and hot here in Ontario Canada and about time....hopefully you'll have wonderful weather from next week on....love your videos. Thank you so much for sharing.....
Wow, yes jam packed full of awesome goodness !!! Love both of this journals ... Beautiful Nik simply Beautiful!! I feel for you, waiting for our weather to stop raining so I can plant my tomatoes. Getting really big so need to get in the ground.

These are both beautiful Nik...love the little bags with the leaves! And the paper shop you went to sounds very cool! Would love to visit that shop! Hugs! to you my friend! :)
Love the marble paper, you should make that. So nice. I love the *French tapestry paper (2:40 opposite of marble-5:43-7:47 ) if anyone(Nik) knows where to get that?
oh no not at all! I love seeing other's take on the theme, and if I ever get through my custom orders I have other things I really want to get my teeth into lol! always feel inspiration from you however, love and hugs x
Gosh, those covers! Working on a woodland slash botany jj kit! Off to go add my vintage tree images thanks to you : )) Gorgeous naturalist journal!! Love the green and purple combo on the first one too!! xgt
+GTDesigns & Vtg Supplies Oh that Basset hound is soo cutee! He gets Me every time I see His face! Is it true that Basset Hounds are very stubborn willed? We have a Siberian Husky with a little border collie in his mix. He's all husky but every now & then the Collie comes out :-)
In early 1880, newspaper articles throughout much of the English-speaking world, usually headed “for the ladies”, reported that the Paris spring fashions featured a new colour: LATEST PARISIAN FASHIONS There is no doubt but that the “heliotrope colour” will take the lead in spring materials, such as silks, grenadines, and wollens [sic]; the peculiar shade is that rosy purple conspicuous in the newly-blown flower, and which the dyers call a “false purple.” Launceston Examiner (Tasmania), 24 Apr. 1880.

Not sure how I missed the mushroom book! I think it may be my favorite! (Hubby and I are mountain people, we go up and find edible mushrooms, our favorite are chanterelles (and there's tons up there this year!). Now I need to make a 'mushroom book for all our pix!). :-D

You always apologize for your videos being too long...I don't think anyone will ever complain that one of your video's is too long! The longer we can look at your beautiful creations the better!!
Hi Nik I have been wanting to comment for a while because you were the one to introduce me to junk journals and using vintage papers. I have long been a lover of all things vintage, but especially paper and ephemera. A few months ago, after buying a huge haul of vintage paper at an Estate Sale, I did a search for ideas of what to do with vintage paper, and I found your TH-cam channel. I was instantly enthralled, I had never heard of junk journals before and I loved how you used vintage papers in your books. Your work is so beautiful and I could not stop watching your videos! I felt like I had found “my people” and I spent all weekend watching TH-cam videos of people making junk journals. I finally have a reason for all my paper collections! And I am not the only one! My family thinks I am so odd for always saving papers and tags and memories, so it has been so fun to find so many liked minded people and an entire community of talented people who get me. Anyway, I had to say hi today because I am headed to Colorado tomorrow for my cousin’s outdoor wedding. In Estes Park! We just got the weather news and I am now having to dig out my snow boots and gear (I live in the pacific north west) and find warm wedding clothes. It sounds like everyone in Colorado is a bit over it. But I am looking forward to seeing your beautiful state, snow, or no snow. AND I am finishing my first junk journal to take with me on this trip. I hadn’t realized you lived in Colorado - I love that I am using my first junk journal on a trip to the state of the person who introduced me to an entire new hobby! JC
JC VintageStudio717 welcome to the club, JC!! it's great to have you here ;) um. yeah...its snowing chicken feathers out here. I think Estes is getting snow measured in feet... o.O
Thank you! And, yes, they had 3 feet of snow in one night! I wore my snow boots on the plane, with a tank top, and I was so hot in the airport and plane, but I was very glad I had them when we got to Denver. The wedding continued, outside, but blankets were provided and the snowy mountains were the most beautiful backdrop. I hope that was your last snowfall of the season!
Beautyology - the purple is perfect, and I adore your nature books. Do u tear out your E. Holden pages? I'm so afraid to. 🙄 Snow?? That's crazy! (p.s. I was clearing my throat with you. 🤓)
You had me at those SPINES!!! The covers, the details, the charmie thingies -- REALLY SPLENDID! (Trying to think of something else other than my usual "AWESOME!") And 20 minutes is nothin' in Booksmithin' time. It a bonus. You can call your longer vids "Bonus Booksmiths." ;-)
You are without doubt talented, I laugh my head off at your dialects, foggy brained OK. I love your books, and copy them wildly, just for myself, how could I EVER get your results. I think I might just copy your language instead. Love love
Love the colour of the journal covers....... and the insides of course...... love..... love ....... love
Helen Stillman Thomas thank you, helen!
