It was clear from day one that he was gonna be a superstar, but his career changed forever when videos leaked online allegedly involving him and his girlfriend. Mason Greenwood didn't play football for 2 years, but he is back playing for Getafe in Spain. I think (and hope) that Sir Jim Ratcliffe has the guts to stand up to the feminist-driven British media who are trying to have someone cancelled for life over an isolated incident in his youth for which he wasn't convicted. One uncharacteristic domestic incident should not define a person for life. The overwhelming majority of United's global fanbase want him back. It's only in Britain that he is being crucified by sanctimonious, self-righteous holier-than-thou hypocrites. The narrator of this video (whoever he is) seems shocked that Getafe fans love Greenwood so much. Here's the answer: they are football fans, not judges, jurors and executioners. They are interested only in what goes on on the football pitch. They are not interested in someone's private life, because it's none of their business. I believe that Greenwood would be welcomed in any other country in the world except Britain. The level of judgementalism there is just mind-boggling, especially considering the reputation of English fans abroad. Who are they to throw stones at anyone?
Other footballers like Troy Deeney, Joey Barton, Jonathan Woodgate, Duncan Ferguson, Mickey Quinn, Tony Adams, Dennis Wise, Ched Evans, Lee Hughes, Luke McCormack etc were all convicted of serious crimes (and most were jailed) but were still able to resume their careers afterwards. Harry Maguire was convicted of assaulting an officer of the law in Greece, but is still playing for United. Yet Greenwood, who has not been convicted of ANYTHING, is hounded out of English football without any possibility of redemption. The ultimate irony is that United will be the only losers if he doesn't come back. Whatever you think of him, United are better with than without him. But then maybe English fans are more interested in moralising than football. Mason Greenwood will be a great footballer with or without United. Their loss will be some other club's gain. The one thing they can't take from him is his talent.

If Utd were a serious club, they'd bring him back at season end and give him a long term contract. They are signing a footballer, not Pope John Paul. He is guilty of nothing in the eyes of the law. He was a foolish young man who deserves a 2nd chance. There is no moral or legal reason why he cannot earn a living. Absolutely No moral or legal reason why he is not entitled to earn a living.
Those Utd fans that oppose his return can vote with their feet. Those outside of the club can do one too. No one has the right to cancel the career of anyone else in a free society.
Make no mistake, Greenwood is a once in a lifetime footballing talent. His attributes are streets ahead of any other young footballer anywhere in world football. He is two footed. He can play across the front line. He is a deadly finisher. He is excellent in possession has an eye for a pass as good as most No10's. Man Utd know they won't find another player of this quality for another decade or two. Very soon he might even become a free agent. So it is decision time. Utd need to grow a pair and make the right footballing decision.
That said, if I were his dad, his agent, I would hold out till he becomes a free agent.
