Hey! Thanks for covering our track on your channel, I was directed to this via Twitter. You nailed it with the title. During the writing of this track, and particularly the composition of the sound design at the start, our bass player Nathan was plagued with a dripping sound outside his window that was keeping him up at night. He took the inspiration from that with the repeated snare sound. The title was almost a bit of a silly inside joke but I found it incredibly funny that you likened it to water torture because in part, thats kind of what was happening here. Anyway, just wanted to share a little story. Cheers!
That's an awesome story! The rhythms work really well with the rest of the track, I love it. I feel a little bad about not hearing anything from you guys beforehand! Great work on this song.
Always loved Rolo Tomassi! Happy to see a react video! P.S. Eva is amazing... P.P.S. Little story... I discovered Rolo Tomassi when they came out because a newsagent in my hometown (a relatively small italian one) to my request, decided to import Kerrang (the magazine) and started selling it to me...
Rolo Tomassi are a band that should be way bigger than they are. They’ve been putting out masterpiece albums for years and people should be talking about them more. This album in particular was my absolute favourite album of 2022.
To answer your question about the vocals, Eva does all the singing and screaming and her brother is actually the keyboardist in the band who also does some backing vocals occasionally but it's all her on this track.
My dad has been a fan of Rolo Tomassi for as long as they've been around and has tried to get me into them many times over the years. this was the track that finally made it click for me Also yes, she does the harsh stuff too
These guys used to play all the time at my local venue when they were super young(think the lead singer was only 14 or 15 at the time) and they were so, so loud. Happy to hear they're still going.
So glad to see you react to Rolo Tomassi! I discovered them quite lately (a year ago) but they really struck a chord with me. Another one I would recommend is A Flood of Light (it has a music video).
Loved the perspective as always. It took a while for this band to "click" with me too - but once it did there was no turning back and it all felt delicious. \m/
I'm trying to figure out how the hell I've never heard of this band when this song is so awesome. I absolutely love when bands can mix clean and harsh vocals in a way that sounds natural. I've definitely got to check out their discography.
You'll love their music... for me, this track isn't even a highlight (even though it's great) Listen to this beauty! th-cam.com/video/HhcF-3wBlEw/w-d-xo.html
Never mind their discography, get out there and see them live. It's absolutely electric. Eva's performance is like watching a furious pixie casting magic over a crowd. 10/10 would recommend.
I’m still here. That first part reminded me of 90s noise bands. I haven’t heard this band before. Geebz, I have to say I lol a couple times with your reaction, thanks😊
You DEFINITELY would love the three track trifecta from their previous album: "Towards Dawn," "Aftermath," and "Rituals." Listening to those three is a spiritual adventure. The first two aren't heavy, but the third escalates things a bit.
@@lprmesia2 I hear that. The whole album is hard to stop listening to any time I put it on (like I did just now lol). To me though, Rituals just kind of feels like the logical conclusion of Towards Dawn and Aftermath. And then The Hollow Hour starts us down another adventure
you're both wrong, you have to listen to all 6 between Towards Dawn and Alma Mater, they all flow. It would be wrong to just cut it off before Alma Mater
Instant sub! Rolo is my favorite band of all time, love their stuff. They retweeted your post of this video and thats how I just found you but I’m definitely here to stay, especially since you mentioned Periphery as well!
I suggested this band some months ago and it feels good to see them here on the channel! I have seen them live and they absolutely kick ass, Eva is elegant and menacing at the same time and the whole band is very tight
This was one of my favourite songs from 2022! Pretty sure it came out the year before, but last year was when I listened to it about a hundred times :)
Love that you've gotten to Rolo Tomassi, they're one of my favourite bands ever, I just saw them live last year and they killed it. Your comment about the depth of their musicianship is interesting because they've really evolved a lot over the years, starting out they were a mathcore band, with way more polyrhythms and weird time signatures, getting more progressive and spacey and filling out over their career. It's a real treat to go through. You should check out one of their older tracks like "I Love Turbulence"
Hell yeah. I recently listened to this album from front to back, the lyrics themselves are top notch and aid to the overall tone of each track seamlessly. Labrynthine was my favourite track on the album.
So cool to see Rolo Tomassi on your channel. I went to school with the original lineup and their music has gone under the radar for way too long. Incredible band and super duper nice people. I would love to see decompose one of their older album ending tracks highly recommend Cosmology, Illuminaire and Fantasia
Ohhh - my old guitarist was really into these guys, but I never got round to listening. I really dig the repetition element with the dissonant vibe - the relief/contrast from light to heavy - if I had money, I would part with it for this. Good stuff, right "up my street".
This definitely is among their more conventional songs and they're a long way from the chaos of their early years in general at this stage of their career. If you wanted to do another reaction to them an older song that contrasts with where they're currently at would be interesting. I'd suggest Tongue In Chic or Illuminaire. Pleasant surprise to see them covered here, criminally underrated band and any additional expsure they can get is welcome.
I've just put together this weekend my top albums from 2022 and among the 150+ I've heard last year, this one ended up on the 9th spot. Really well thought-out album, lots of intelligent and bold decisions, great contrast between dreamy pop vibes and filthy, dark aggressive moments.
Geebz does some of the best music reactions on TH-cam. Been watching his videos for a while and it's so nice to see him tackle smaller, really creative bands. I proposed a long time ago Unexpect (Quantum Symphony) and Zeal & Ardor (Blood in the Rivern Devil is Fine, Götterdämmerung), which (if I am not mistaken) he has not listened to yet, and I cannot wait to see him listen to those bands.
You should listen something from Birds in Row, maybe Water Wings, Trompe L'oeil, We vs Us or Love is Political Great band! (Still waiting your Streetlight Manifesto slow burn reaction session ;) )
After this, you should DEFINITELY react to " Oathbreaker "10:56" / "Second Son of R." (Official Video) ". I would love to hear what you have to say about this track. Peace out!
No way you’re reacting to Rolo Tomassi! They’re a great band live. I think I was at their like 5th ever gig back in like 07 or so, and am seeing them next month - they’ve come a long way. Their previous album is also really worth checking out, probably their strongest. FYI - it’s Eva who does both the metal style and ‘proper’ singing
Rolo Tomassi will always be the band I discovered through my ancient greek teacher. He recommended me the band years ago because they are such a genre-bending band. And Eva is really a great vocalist who can switch easily between growling, screaming and singing.
Rolo rules. One of the few bands where every album is spectacular and hardly a song in the whole discography I skip. And they are INCREDIBLE live. Not a incredible vocalist for a; "woman" in metal. She's one of the best vocalists in metal, period.
Great band; not the biggest, but really creative and interesting. I love the way their sound has evolved. Cloaked; the second track from this album, is a really awesome soundscape!
Found this band because of the movie L.A. Confidential and I'm forever thankful for it. Really creative band and definitely deserves more of a spotlight on them.
It's kinda wild that after the ambience and the soundscape the song just kinda happens. LIke noise, noise, slightly more intense noise, back to noise, and then vocals and the rest of the song happens
Sup Geebz, early morning for you. I'm in Oregon on vacation. Closer in timezones lol. Anyway, Patreon suggestion, Awwwright 🤙. Oh man I love these drums and bass!! Stellar! Vocals come in and turns it up to 11. 🤘🤘#stillhere
I always get happy seeing a new Geebz video, but there's always a slight tinge of disappointment because you have not yet discovered the Melvins. I look forward to seeing the joy they will bring you Geebz. With over 1500 songs to choose from, I will avoid the maybe 5 or so that had enough commercial success to show up repeatedly in your requests. I will go with lesser known masterpieces today...please try "National Hamster" or "Electric Flower"...The latter should be enjoyed with the music video, it's hilariously creepy/silly and inspiring. God bless ya Geebz!
Geebz is The Man when it comes to awesome and wholesome reactions. He knows what he's looking for, and has great taste in music. Anyone don't like what he has to say? say bye bye... You like? SUBSCRIBE!!! 300K is super close and he deserves it! Just like I deserve a decomposing of a CANNIBAL CORPSE SONG >:( Geebz.......maybe Priests Of Sodom would be a great start...
Just call me Soup cuz I'm still here like a case of syphilis, damaging your internal organs long before all the sores start alerting all your peeps as to what you really do with your spare time.

I saw you guys in brisbane and Adelaide in 2010. It was insane
Rolo Tomassi are a band that should be way bigger than they are. They’ve been putting out masterpiece albums for years and people should be talking about them more.
This album in particular was my absolute favourite album of 2022.
The movement from Labyrinthine to Closer to Drip is one of the boldest mid-album transitions I've ever heard and I love it
Eva does the clean and harsh vocals.
I love how the repeating snare in the beginning is revealed to be a 3/2 polyrhythm once the cymbals come in.
To answer your question about the vocals, Eva does all the singing and screaming and her brother is actually the keyboardist in the band who also does some backing vocals occasionally but it's all her on this track.
My dad has been a fan of Rolo Tomassi for as long as they've been around and has tried to get me into them many times over the years. this was the track that finally made it click for me
Also yes, she does the harsh stuff too
such an underrated and emotional band
Love Rolo Tomassi. Eva is one of my favorite screamers and is perfect live. Thanks for this one! You should check out more of their stuff!
These guys used to play all the time at my local venue when they were super young(think the lead singer was only 14 or 15 at the time) and they were so, so loud. Happy to hear they're still going.

Oh wow - thank you so much man. Really, thank you!!!
Yeeesssss. One one fav bands. Was fortunate enough to see them on this last US tour amazing stuff

I can't even stop there and have to roll into the next track - "The Hollow Hour" is probably my favorite song from them overall. That ending grabs me.
@@lprmesia2 I hear that. The whole album is hard to stop listening to any time I put it on (like I did just now lol). To me though, Rituals just kind of feels like the logical conclusion of Towards Dawn and Aftermath. And then The Hollow Hour starts us down another adventure

I couldn't agree more. That whole album takes me on a trip.
These guys are amazing! I've been jamming there most recent album, the album that this song is from, ALOT for the past few months.

Crazy! I just recently discovered this band and love them, then... Ta Da ! You are reviewing them.
yooo! cool to see this band on here. I listened to this album online and forgot about it. So i'm happy to rediscover them via your reaction.
Hell yeah, this is one of my favorite releases of last year. You’re the best, Geebz! Don’t forget to do a Coheed slow burn sometime!

top tier band pick you have here on this one. they're so good.
This was one of my favorite releases in recent memory. And the song is all in. This isn’t a second part to something. Love this! Keep it up!
I am still here. Death Wish Coffee and Rolo Tomassi, what a way to start a Wednesday.
You should listen something from Birds in Row, maybe Water Wings, Trompe L'oeil, We vs Us or Love is Political
Great band!

Birds in Row rips!
Birds In Row are great, helping keep post-harcore alive.
FINALLYYYYYYYYY 💖💖💖
One of my fav songs from one of my fav albums of 2022. Stoked to see it!
Geebz, you're like the dose that kicks in for us TH-cam fans 😉
Saw them on their first American tour with the number 12 looks like you. Amazing how Eva pulled the crowd in

The rise from 10:51 onwards, culminating in that single china hit (i think it's a china) is amazing.
Nice choice and great album!
"rolo tomassi - a flood of light" is the best!! definitely need to make a reaction to it.
Rolo Tomassi will always be the band I discovered through my ancient greek teacher. He recommended me the band years ago because they are such a genre-bending band. And Eva is really a great vocalist who can switch easily between growling, screaming and singing.

I'd love you to hear A Flood of Light by Rolo Tomassi, after the intense anxiety of Drip.
Great reaction. Another great track that came out recently is Ne OblIviscaris, Equus. You should check it out it's epic
Great tune- the playlist is getting longer! 🤘🏼
Tigran hamasyan - Drip
Also, wretched - exodus of autonomy
Please give a thumbs up so we can see some next lvl shit \m/

Would be great if you went back into their earlier work which is a lot more.... err... zany! Ha
I was half expecting this to be a Shrüm cover.
Shrüm is an interesting band. Instead of guitars, they use 2 Basses.
🙂

Thank God you stopped doing that annoying intro lol
Geebz, you have to pause more.
No way, one needs time to sink into the music. He does it just right.
I really dislike it.
