We had an Australian Labradoodle who lived to one month shy of his 15th birthday. He was about 47 lbs. and was considered a medium sized labradoodle with an apricot wavy coat. He was the best dog we have ever had. He was loving, smart, obedient, playful and he believed he was the protector of his home and family. He was often seen peaking through the curtains in the living room watching everyone that past by our house and letting us know they were there. We groomed him every 4 weeks and the groomer charged $60. His fur felt like cotton, did not shed, and he never smelled. We have been without him for one month and we are missing him everyday!
Oh, they are beautiful. We have a Golden Doodle, he does the same as your Australian! There’s an Australian lives near us, she is lovely! Great temperament, hypo allergenic, loyal, just a great dog!
We just got a 6 month old phantom Australian doodle to have a friend for our Australian shepherd and other than the teething phase he’s been a great and super cute dog! Looking forward to his adult years!
Exactly same story here. We had the same dog but ours was a girl. Our Lola passed away in September, exactly one month shy of her 15th bday. I miss her so much. Big hug x
So sorry to hear about your loss, sending you prayers and healing 🙏 I just got a mini labradoodle puppy and he sure is a handful but I'm absolutely crazy about him. Again, my condolences to you and your family.
As a groomer I can tell you that the statement of "grooming them doesn't take much effort" is ridiculously untrue. They are one of the most labor intensive dogs to groom.
And the price goes way up for grooming. The owners will not understand that they are high maintenance dogs and need grooming every 4 to six months. Many have behavior problems from bad breeding which increase grooming fees.
Hi! Have you tried grooming Australian Labradoodles (a more prestigious line than most american versions lab or golden, so maybe they are more carefully bred)? I grew up with the foundation dogs of Ausm Labradoodles (we are breeders out in NC that specialize in standard and medium service/medical alert dogs and hypoallergenic pets), and we do our own grooming for our own dogs and our moms before labor. I agree, they are very labor intensive, but our experience on their temperaments differ. The vast majority of our dogs have just laid there happy as we worked. We have found that some of the smaller dogs have neccesitated the grooming table, but since getting a real groomers bath tub it has mostly been a breeze, aside from those thick coats! Have you noticed if there is a temperment difference between Goldendoodles, American Labradoodles, and/or Australian Labradoodles? Have you generally worked with any service dogs or dogs bred for service work and noticed a difference in temperment between them and other dogs? Good grooming temperment may become something we keep track of in our breeding lines!
this channel is spreading tons of misinformation. She said they're hypo-allergenic, dont shed, and only need to be groomed every 10-12 weeks. Its infuriating
My Labradoodle was a giant! He was an Fb1 and weighed 126 lbs, 32 inches from nape to base of tail. He was gentle towards babies and cautious around furniture. He was not only my son's "brother, he was my therapy partner. Sadly, he passed February 2020 due to a paralysis from a tumor on his spinal cord. He was still mentally sharp when we had to put him to sleep at 12 years of age. He was the best dog we ever had and I miss him dearly.😭
I have a 1 year old labradoodle. She is the sweetest most loving dog I have ever had. HIGH HIGH energy incredibly stubborn and watches more tv than I do.
I used to have a dog that loved watching Lassie (the 1997 series where Lassie and Timmy were always getting in trouble). When he charged at a bear on TV, I had to take the TV away from him.
I have a golden doodle, she just turned 13 years old last week, still in incredible shape and one of the most loving animals ever, potty trained within weeks, loves people and kids, just an absolute perfect dog, I couldn't recommend any other breed
Our Labradoodle will be 13 this December. He is an amazingly sweet and smart dog. At 13, he has slowed down a bit, but he still flies down our deck stairs to chase the birds. He's still playful and in great shape. I keep praying he lives to 20. He has grown up with my boys and we just love him so much.
I had a doodle growing up. The only info we had was the mother was a miniature poodle, the father was a fence jumper, but, definitely, not miniature. He was an absolute sweetheart and so, so smart.
Goldendoodle. Had one since he was a pup. Large male, grew to just shy of 110 lbs. Lived 12 years. Put him down 2 months ago. He was the therapy dog of the neighborhood. He was my bud. Miss him dearly.
I have a 14 year old Labradoodle (turning 15 in July). She is the best thing that ever happened to me. I don't have one negative comment re: any of her traits or personality. I constantly tell people how lucky I am to have gotten such a perfect dog.
I just got one 2 weeks ago. Can confirm she is 1/2 Labrador Retriever, 1/2 Standard Poodle, 1/2 Love, 1/2 Goofiness, 1/4 Mischief and will change my life for the better.
I’m a dog groomer and I have to shave severely matted doodle more than anything, if you get one you HAVE to brush them just as much as full bred poodles. Best brushes would be both a long bristle slicker brush and a metal comb - brush and fluff with the slicker and then use the comb to make sure there’s nothing left behind! hope this helps doodle parents 💗💗🐶
@@alberrykl lots of positive praise & patience. I have aussiedoodles and they are high maintenance and high energy. At the beginning just brush a small area and give training treats, they are very small treats and I have not had weight issues with mine. So maybe 3 - 5 times a day for 5 minutes, depending on your availability brush and area and treat with lots of happy praise. A great time to start would be after a professional grooming because the hair would be untangled and short. I hope this helps . BTW I am not a trainer I am only speaking from what has worked for me.
Lyric Plur I couldn’t live without my groomer. My dog looks at me and the expression says “amateur.” If I’ve learned anything in isolation it’s not to take your service people for granted. Tip. Tip well. And don’t forget the holiday’s. My dog loves her groomer and they love her. ❤️
Had a 10 yr old golden doodle I had to put down 2 weeks ago.💔💔💔. BEST DOG IVE EVER HAD! The personality Grace had was unmatched. She is greatly missed!
Have one Golden Doodle currently, our first passed at home from a cancerous tumor that bled out, he was 11. Our 2nd had to be put down after 11 and a half years due to painful hip displayshia. All had different personalities, some barked, some didn't. All settled down after age 2. The worst thing about them is when they go.
For anyone reading this: I know that dog training can be difficult sometimes, but you're doing great. Keep up the good work, and your dog (and your own sanity) will thank you for it! ❤️💕
I bought Rostam, my Labradoodle almost 15 years ago. Don't laugh but Labradoodles are the classiest, most considered dogs or even humans you ever meet. I often told people that he was part human and part angel. While looking at Rostam I sometimes thought that it was an honor to have him with us. Six months ago my Rostam died just as classy as he lived. I think about him often, how can I not? and tell him "Thank you for coming to our lives"
I had a Schnoodle which died suddenly after only 4 months of ownership. Emmeline was so, so smart. She was a 4-year-old rescue who had been on the streets for some time. She was hilarious and had a very sarcastic sense of humor. She tended to bark like schnauzers do . We taught her not to bark, but she would always grumble afterwards like a child mumbling under their breath.
I just purchased my golden doodle 3 weeks ago and he is awesome. Smart, affectionate, easy to train, great with the kids, and very intuitive. I absolutely love him and I’m so glad I have him especially trying to cope with the past 1.5 years of being pretty much house bound due to covid.
janie cutliff ...I was always under the impression that they might shed, they might not shed. There’s really no way to be sure. If they inherited more of the poodle coat, they won’t. If they inherit more of the other breeds they could?
purchased? I rescued mine from an Amish puppy mill in Missouri. Please don't purchase your dogs. Be aware of the pain and misery that created your designer dog.
My beautiful Labradoodle, Gucci passed 3 weeks ago after laryngeal surgery...Her death was very unexpected. She brought joy to me for 11 years and was the best, smartest most loving dog I have ever owned. Extremely intelligent, kind, gentle, playful, classy and loving. She is missed terribly by everyone who's lives she has touched.
I have a labradoodle, that is the neighborhood watchdog. He howls and barks every time there is a delivery driver, or any unauthorized person in our neighborhood. He acts as if his job is to watch the neighborhood. He sits upstairs, on our bed, and watches out the window at what is going around, while I do my chores. Chester is so hilarious! He is 35 lbs but can sound like a 150 lb Doberman. He's almost 2 years old. He is well trained, but, won't stop on the barking part. It is his duty, so he believes. I many times have to take him for a ride to calm him down. I just say, want to go bye-bye, and he gets his harness. I sure love him and he is the best addition to our family!
I don’t understand why everyone hates on doodles so much and feels the need to constantly point out that they’re “just overpriced mutts”. If people are willing to pay more because they love the unique combination that the cross breeding offers, so what! Many awesome purebreds we have now are a result of intentional cross breeding hundreds of years ago. At the end of the day... Designer cross breeds are awesome. Purebreds are awesome. Shelter mutts are awesome. To each their own.
Why they in shelters, too many bred, & can't find homes. Purebreds line bred for centuries, know what to expect temperament, size etc. Purebreds end up shelters too , certain breeds over produced. Look at the "pitbull" problem.
Kaitlyn Nielson They are beginning to see very ill dogs because breeding is an art form. Just putting two dogs together and letting them have at it doesn’t make it a good dog. My dog’s Breeder pours over medical histories before she breeds her pups.
@@mindakahn9964 that is why you make sure your breeder has genetic work ups (and can provide them to you) on her breeding dogs and good health histories on them as well.
So go to the shelter and adopt a mutt if you want unique combos of traits... Its unethical to support mutt breeders when you can find a mutt in a shelter
I have a labradoodle and a goldendoodle. Labradoodle is very high energy, excitable, vocal.. To the point that sometimes strangers are scared of him because he’s overly friendly. My goldendoodle is very quiet, mellow, and calm. They’re opposite personalities in so many ways! Both great dogs.
My boy is 100% poodle, but never had his tail docked. He's a hair over 30 inches at the shoulder and red. People always ask what kind of doodle he is, but I get to say he's a ROYAL poodle (lol) cause he meets the size requirements. Still nice to know about these mixes though, but I take a actual poodle over all!
I am also on the straight up standard poodle team! If you want the qualities of a poodle because they are so great then just get a poodle! Why mix? Love my standards!❤
If you're thinking if getting a doodle make sure you can afford 80-140$ grooming sessions every 6-8 weeks and that you can thoroughly brush out their coat every day. As a groomer I have done so many matted shave downs on doodles simply because the owners either don't bother brushing or don't brush properly causing their dog discomfort. If you don't want to have to brush regularly get them completely shaved down in a 7,5 or 4 blade every 6-8 weeks. These lengths are short enough that there's not chance of matting. Keeping a longer coat which most owners want when they get one requires A LOT of work on the daily. Of you don't have the time for the maintenance don't get one or make sure you can bring them to the groomers often enough to keep them short. Longer coats will require even more frequent visits every 4-8 weeks depending on how fast they get dirty and grow out. Before buying one find a reputable groomer that is willing to groom doodles ( many groomers dont take them) and work with them to discuss a grooming schedule. Look into line brushing and get the technique down to ensure you have a well brushed coat and don't forget to check your work with a comb!
TY. I am in a power chair. I just lost my 14 yr old shelter dog. I do need a service animal. Martini I walked daily/. The maintenence on the dog will be a problem for me.
It’s not that bad. I brush my golden doodle once a day or once every other day to prevent matting (takes 5 mins). I bought a $40 trimmer and $12 curved scissors that’s come with a little safety tip from Petco... DIY is much cheaper 😊
Oh I’m sorry, I did not notice your comment mentioning your disability. I have a French Bulldog, he’s pretty low maintenance and super sweet. Do you like those?
Goldendoodle and I would not trade her for any other breed. She is gentle & loving. Mine is a Mini Goldendoodle. She is 15 wks old & weighs 10lbs. Her name is Daisy. What a sweetie. My husband passed away and I wanted some company. She fills the bill.
@@natasja7785 How can you remark on how a dog was raised? You don’t know the owner, environment or dog!!Your remark only proves you “weren’t raised well”!!
Purebred poodles will spoil you for life! They really are the smartest, loving, funny and they have an air of charisma and refinement that no other dog has! They “prance” and “strut” with grace and dignity! Why have a “doodle” anything? It’s only half a poodle lol 🐩
My husband just got me a “Golden Doodle” puppy and he’s simply adorable!! Thank you for the tutorial, I learned a lot…will do my absolute best to love & keep him happy, safe, and healthy! Thanks Again! Much Needed Info!!
I can relate. We have one named Prince. To the person asking about grooming. Use a good wire brush and give a good brushing at least once a week. Prince loves being brushed, except for his head. We live in San Antonio so we cut his hair short during the warm months. He stays inside more during the heat, but I have a sprinkler and little pool he plays in. We have learned to trim his coat ourselves. You need very good clippers though. Their undercoat is very thik. I swear it is like sheep wool. Lol.
My Labradoodle is 4 months and he's awesome. Absolutley can't imagine living in an apartment with him because of his energy and riping and running throughout the house and outside! Hes great with children and will bark only to make me aware of something strange. He wants to cuddle all the time and wants to be in my lap while driving. Hes so big now that he can't fit in my lap anymore while driving though he try to. I just let his wndow down and then he'll turn to that and stick his head out the window. He's sooooo intelligent - he plays paw games with me. Its unbelievable. Then when he does it with my friends and family they are blown away by his intelligence.
We had to put our sweet Goldendoodle, Nelly Rose, down in February. She was 16 1/2 years old. She was a very gentle and loving dog and was great with children and people of all ages. I miss her dearly!
my Goldendoodle was Definitely a Hunter, Watchdog, and Lover! He loved anyone who I invited in. He barked for happiness at all he recognized. Barked at anyone walking by the house.... but he declined to answer the incessant barking of the neighbor dog! He was a wonderful dog...died at 6 1/2 of some undefined neurological issue. All to fast, he was gone. I wanted another Goldendoodle. Found a Labradoodle puppy. He is now 6 months old. I am watching for those wonderful traits....He has brought me a dead mouse already. He does not bark as much but, he is going face to face w/ the chickens....barks at them sometimes. Better at Fetch and bring the ball back to me! My Golden kept the ball and played keep away! Still a puppy so still watching! SOFT and SWEET!
I have 4 standard poodles and groom them myself. I've met many people who bought doodles of different varieties and ALL had been told they were non shedding and or hypoallergenic (which they weren't). I personally don't understand the big fad with these poodle mixes. Standard Poodles are great dogs. I love their personality and I've owned a golden retriever and a Labrador and by far my favorite have been my poodles. Never thought I would like poodles, but we had to choose a non shedding dog once our golden passed away, now my husbands sinus issues and headaches are gone.
Same. I’ve owned so many different dog breeds throughout my life. Poodles are by far my favorite. I have two toy poodles now and will probably have poodles the rest of my life. They are just the perfect dog in my opinion. Smart, loving, great family dog, active but will also snuggle. Plus they don’t shed. The fad has to do with people wanting those awesome poodles characteristics but with a different look. I don’t really get it either. Just get a poodle ☺️
Can’t agree more. We had a standard named Brie that I wouldn’t have changed in any way. I’ve always wondered why one would take such a great breed and mix it with another. It’s like Billy Joel marrying Christie Brinkley. What happens if the offspring look like him and sing like her?
@@mrturnbull9504 As I said I've had both goldens, labs. How does a lab act? My poodles act no different than those other 2 breeds...well I guess the only difference is my poodles learned quicker than both those breeds. They also on an average live longer because they have less health problems.
@@mrturnbull9504 and if you don't keep poodles hair clipped short, you cannot tell the difference between poodles or doodles..they look the same only 1 WILL NOT SHED.
I have 3 Goldendoodles and 1 Sheepadoodle. All 4 alert me to noises when they are not familiar with those sounds. I only have one male and he shows me how he will not stop barking when someone comes to our door or fence. They are bonded and very loving towards me and each other. Three are absolute comedians. Two are 80 lb Goldendoodles and two are 50 lb being the mini Sheepadoodle and Goldendoodle. Wherever I am the mini's are with me from room to room. The mini's are hyper and so is my male Goldendoodle. Whether its the middle of the night or first thing in the morning my Sheepadoodle is sitting there next to my head watching me. I wonder if its not the Old English Sheepdog trait of watching her sheep. These 4 are keepers and wonderful parts of my life, my family and my world.
Rescued a golden doodle boy who is huge and awesome.. his hair is sooo high maintenance in comparison to a straight poodle lady we had for 15 yrs.. both dogs have huge personalities but my boy is much more cuddly and into people.. Sash loved my husband to distraction and when he passed away she was never the same..
We have a red Golden Doodle who is 18 months old, she's very affectionate and is the neighborhood mascot in our senior community. She makes everyone feel that they are Special and everyone knows her name ! Pure Love!
And why not the normal standard poodle? I breed standard Poodles in party colour, they have all the positives from mix breeds and are even better for some allergic people. People always say you need a Labradoodle for allergics, but everyone forgets that these dogs have this gen from the Poodle (not loosing hair), so why take this risk? Also the inventor of the Labradoodle regrets 'his' breed. They are often very expensive and if you don't get your doodle from a good breeder the chances are big you have a hyperactive bouncing doodle. These breeders only see the money, they don't care about well thought pedigrees and good characters from the parent dogs. You like the look more? You can trim the Poodle in a Doodle model and won't notice the difference ;)
I'm a groomer, my experience with doodles is usually not great. Meanwhile the POODLES I work on? Hardly ever a problem. I've had a mini poodle myself for almost 20 years. And I just got another mini poodle currently 5 months old. They are a phenomenal breed!
We have two Golden Doodles F1Bs: a standard male apricot, eight months, and a medium female white with brown markings, four months. We got our male first and felt he needed the companionship of another Golden Doodle. They get along well together, although there are times when I think otherwise because of jealousy or toys, even though they get our attention constantly and have a toy box full of chew toys. We are retired, and Theo and Brooklyn are our adopted children, pride, and joy.
I had 2 golden doodles and they both died of cancer. One was 10 and one was 14. I loved and miss them so much. They were wild till the end. I suggest if you are over 65 get a golden retriever. They are gentle
I have a goldendoodle puppy and he is the best. He is super protective and loving. He also gets soooo excited when other people are at our house, which can be a little bit of a problem. He is super smart and normally good around children. Finally, he bites a lot but only while he is over excited.
If you're concerned about shedding, you can can get a standard poodle, or if you like the look of Goldens, try looking at 'English style' goldens as they have boxier heads and shorter, but still very soft fur. It does shed, but not as much as the flufflier American style ones. Their coats are also low maintenance and mostly 'wash and wear'. It's very difficult (if not impossible) for most of the Doodle breeders to verify parent dogs health because reputable, conscientious purebred breeders will not sell their dogs to be used as Doodle breeding stock, so they're most likely getting original poodle, golden and lab dogs from casual/backyard breeders who don't care and sell their dogs without the typical non-breeding agreements you sign when you buy a purebred. If you're heart is set on a Doodle, do a lot of research on the breeders, as they are being farmed to the max right now because of demand, often using puppy mills and then 'nice family' brokers as fronts. One super popular Doodle breeder in my area opened her waitlist for 2 days and got over 540+ people on it and then had to close it again and said she will reopen it in 6 months, so that means she expects to be able to produce 550 puppies in 6 months, which is insane. The poor female dogs are being bred to death (quite literally). Be careful and ask questions. Also, stay away from Kijiji. Be careful of Mennonite/Amish doodle breeders as they are notorious for puppy mills. As the demand for a breed goes up, the more likely you will find unscrupulous people looking to make a fast buck, and with hybrid dogs with no pedigree or guarantee, that becomes much, much easier.
A reputable breeder can trace the pedigree of their dogs. Our labradoodle goes back 8 generations to the original breeder who bred the first Labrador and Poodle together. We waited over a year for a dog because she only bred two at a time and usually about a month or so apart so she never had them ready to give birth at the same time. Her whole family worked with the dogs. They had 3 visits to the vet prior to our adoption and had also been tested for temperament and ability. She was worth every penny we paid for her when I considered all that went into raising her and caring of her the first 8 weeks of life. She was trained and had only 2 accidents as a puppy. She slept soundly in her crate every night and will still go in there when all the grandkids are here when she wants a break from them. Otherwise it's available but she tends to like the end of our bed or right next to it in another doggie bed we have in our Master bedroom. I couldn't ask for a better dog, so loving and just wants love in return.
100% true. I used to go undercover to dog auctions and the majority of those selling Abused and neglected dogs were the Amish. I do not and will never support the breeding of designer mutts.
It’s not just the look tho, it’s the personality. I’ve been planning on a std poodle for years but have a golden doodle now (I didn’t buy him, long story) and it’s a great mix.
Yes , every you say is true ! The sad thing is that really they are just another mixed breed mutt dog …. Nothing special . They can not be registered with the AKC . I have 3 pure bred Labrador Retrievers .
Our girl Summer is about 9 months old and is just a great big teddy bear, she met our grandkids the other day and got on great although the kids got a bit rougher than she was used to, but she was so gentle, all she wanted to do was give them licks. great dog and will see what she is like in about 10 years.
We just added a doodle to our menagerie! We are guessing she’s about two years old. Our vet thought she is an Aussiedoodle but we got a DNA kit to make sure. Our results say she’s an English Setter/ Doodle. She medium size weighing approximately 45 pounds. She’s mostly white with larger patches and “freckles” all over. She’s got a medium curly coat and she’s very soft. She’s especially smart and very very gentle!
Have labradoodle for two months. I was amazed after 3 labs that were not interested in TV this one does watch it and oh yes HIGH HIGH energy at 4 months. Switch is either full on or off.
If you actually have allergies go for a standard poodle, theres no guarantees with doodles, plus everyones talking about doodles but Spoos are so freaking under-rated and idk why
I have a poodle that I love he doesn't shed and is a lot cheaper than other oddle dogs. A poodle can can be very cute if you don't do the "show poodle ) cut. They're very athletic and affectionate.
I had a male minature goldendoodle (name SnickerDoodle) that we had to put down last year at age 14. Developed blindness adn diabetes but was the an absolutely fabulous dog. Loyal, Loving, quiet, lots of personality. I love LabraDoodles and GoldenDoodles.
@@estherlove9740 My goldendoodle is 30 pounds i got him from a breeder in Chicago it kinda depends on who you choose he was suppose to be 25 pounds but he has a lot of leg on him. In my opinion i think 30 pounds is perfect for a first dog, family dog, and a lot of other things.
Standard Poodles are amazing and anything crossed with them is great. My standard is so gentle that she races rabbits instead of chasing them and wins, she's also so kind that when she comes across dead things like birds and rabbits she'll lay down beside them and cry. Can not recommend the breed and its crosses enough.
@S J all 3 a smart. The standards are great hunters. I mostly had toys but have friends that have minis and standards. Minis are great with agility. I have trained all of them and they were easy to train. They are typically quiet but you may get a yapper in mini or toy size. They all live long the smaller the longer. The toys tend to cling to their owner and if they don't grow with children may not live all of the activity. Avoid teacups!!!!! The worst thing about a poodle is grooming the coat. Just keep it brushed.
i have a sheepadoodle hes 110 kilos of muscle but most loving dog , very protective , sometimes dopey, wants loads of attention , but is just happy your there , im 65 yrs old and would not do without him.
My golden doodle is so sweet. He’s very playful and curious. They grow really fast he’s only 6 months and he is already 40 pounds. He goes in his cage with no problem, sits at the front door to let you know when he has to go to the bathroom. He is the sweetest dog ever!
I have a f1 golden doodle. She has mostly wavy hair . She will be 4 mo old on March 25… she’s already Potty trained, still learning new tricks , but can do high five, shake, sit and spin. She’s the smartest dog I’ve ever came across! I adore her so much.
l33ners T congratulations! They’re such smart and sweet dogs. I think it’s because of the mix. But, i’ve met a lot of doodles and they’re all wonderful!
I already have a Golden doodle of 14 pounds, we just adore our Molly she is very obedient, but a bit jealous of other dogs, she is not agressive at all, if my husband and I hug she want’s to be part of it and barks to let us know, she’s very sociable and needs a lot of exercise, but we made a very good choice when choosing her we just love her so much !!!
We have a Goldendoodle. He is the most loving playful dog I have had. He is a bit hyper though. And yes he barks at everything in our yard. Birds, grasshoppers or whatever he talks to them. He was the easiest dog to house break. I put bells on my back door and in no time he would ring the bells to go outside. I think they make good family dogs. Use a good brush designed for dogs with a thick undercoat. When I was a kid I had a Samoyed and used a horse brush. I have not tried that with my dood but I may. They have to be brushed at least once per week or else you will have problems. We cut his hair short around April and again around July. We live in the San Antonio area where summers are brutal and winters virtually no existent. He spends most of his time indoors during the heat, but I have made him a water sprinkler system that he loves. Technically he is my son's dog. He is a joy. I don't know if he would retrieve ducks or not. My guess is he would. He may not let go of it though.
Winnie the Golden Doodle and we love her! She is four years old and very intelligent. Loyal and loving with the whole family. We got her when she was eight weeks and it was the best decision ever.
Where would be the best place for me to find one? I just lost my little 22 lb schnoodle July 22nd of 2020.. It has been a horrible year. I miss my little baby so very much. My heart is still broken. He was so sweet and smart and loved everyone. Even our 2 cats. He was gentle with children. And if you were feeling bad , somehow he knew. And didn't want to leave your side. I rescued him at 2 and he developed liver cancer that spread really fast. He felt bad one day. I thought maybe he had a tummy ache. So I mad him a little cycling and rice. He ate it for supper. Then a few hours later he started throwing up blood. We rushed him to his vet and he did a bunch of test. It was liver cancer. There was not a thing we could do. If we had to take a second mortgage on our house , we would have done it. We loved him like our child. I am 67 and my husband is 70. He could make us laugh.Make us happy when we were down. And just make you feel better. He did not shed. Which is good because me and my husband have allergy. But we miss our Boo Boo. Mama and daddy will see you in heaven someday Boozie.❤😍😂🙏🙏 We had him cremated to be spread with us someday. We have been married 50 years. And still in love..❤❤🙏
To everyone who said to get a poodle, go to the head of the class. You're extremely intelligent and almost as smart as your poodle. 😉 I am completely flummoxed that people are trying to create the perfect dog breed when the breed already exists. Say it with me, ladies and gentlemen ... *THE POODLE!* -Comes in all sizes -Comes in several colors -2nd most intelligent breed (border collie is first but you need to be very energetic to keep up) -Quick learner -Is a real dog, despite the silly show dog haircuts they're required to wear. No poodle owner ever has to have their poodle groomed in such a fashion As with all dogs, I recommend adopting before shopping. If you want a poodle, check for poodle rescues. I got my poodle I have now at humane society about 2 hours away. He was only $50 because he is an older dog and had a blind eye. Nevertheless, he has been so unbelievably perfect, it's hard for me to fathom my good luck. It could take extra time to find a poodle to rescue because people love them and they get adopted very quickly. But please try very, very hard to find one and let's stop creating new dogs while there are so many dogs of all breeds who need loving homes. And consider the ones with the frosted faces. Rescuing one dog won't change the world, but it will change the world for that one dog. 🐕
Yeah we opted for a standard poodle and so glad we did. We actually met a goldendoodle breeder on our puppy search who admitted she preferred her standard poodle female to her doodles and wish she had known before embarking on breeding doodles. We were grateful for her honesty. Our poodle has a few doodle buddies and they are sweet but don’t have that almost human-like, indescribable awareness and sharpness our girl has.
@@suzigrekin8849 Border collies are indeed #1 in canine intelligence. For those who are energetic and who can spend a generous portion of their time keeping their dog focused on tasks and/or playing, the breed is an excellent fit. You are probably one of those people. For those who may be (1) a little more lay back individual, (2) allergic or have family/friends who are, and (3) are not interested cleaning up dog hair, poodles might be an better option. Being #2 in canine intelligence plus being hypoallergenic is nothing to sneeze at. (See what I did there?😆😂)
@@bunnythespoo490 Well said! I know someone who is about to take the plunge and get a golden doodle. She has researched this breeder and talked to others who own doodles. I've tried to gently steer her toward the poodle, but she seems to have her mind made up. How long ago did you get you poodle? Do you remember the price difference between the doodle and poodle? P.S. I think I may send her your post to get her to reconsider.
I am not sure that there is anything to identify in either of these blends that makes them particularly more desirable than a Standard Poodle. The cross rarely yields a non-shedding dog and often yields a dog with considerably more grooming needs than either a Lab or a Golden.
I agree. I have a Labradoodle which I was told to pick out the most wavy pup which should shed less. No way is that true. She sheds a ton and gets super matted probably way more than a Standard Poodle so I agree with you. Personality wise she's the bees knees but her fur sucks.
@@monicacarson4306 the curlier their coat, the less they shed, as their coat possesses more of the poodle parent which doesn’t shed as they have hair, not fur. If you have the wavier coat then it’s prone to high shed as it takes from their Lab/goldy parent. They misinformed you and that means that they are not an expert in their field if they were the breeders. But I’m sure your labra🐩 is a beaute. Love them.
Well health for starters like you said there's no particular desirable trait than standard poodle. So why get a purebred standard poodle that is likely to have more health concerns than a standard F1 doodle. Most Doodles are actually hypoallergenic not all it's a bit of luck of the draw but most. So you have a hypoallergenic poodle looking dog that's more healthy. Win/win
@@toedrag-release health is a factor of a good breeding program rather than a benefit derived automatically by widening the gene pool with additional breeds. Yes, if both the poodle and other breed were well health vetted, than there is likely something to be gained by diversity. That being said, my three Standard Poodles are quite healthy.
Lost our Goldendoodle, McKenzie at 8 years old this last Feb. to cancer.......Still very heartbroken. Prone to fatty tumors. He was scared of acorns falling in the park behind our house and blowing leaves.......So we could never get him to go on walks with us after his first experience of the acorns. He was only “supposed “ to get to 50 lbs. but, topped off at 93 when he was full grown. Very obedient and loving, but, not anything you could say as a watchdog, but, so darned lovable and sweet.
I have a Golden and a Pyredoodle ( Great Pyrenees). Always had Pyres and Goldens. This is really a great combination! The Golden is older and gets such a kick out of the Pyre. So much love between them!!
Love these beautiful breeds. My dear Chocolate Labradoo Max died of Leukemia last year at the young age of 8 1/2, 5 week after being diagnosed (went deteriorated so quickly - with the oral chemo not doing the opposite it should have done . He was the best dog I ever had, so, so intelligent, great spirit and just an unbelievable loyal brother who is always missed.
I have a 5 yo labradoodle. Shes absolutely brilliant. She's so gentle and sweet. She's my favourite creature to have ever lived. She's phantom black coated and about to have her first litter of F1B pups!
Yes and the shelters rescued and breed rescues are full. Our is full of energetic dogs - beautiful young and stable German shepherds, huskies and pitties. Ya might want to set aside that 3K for vet visits which are astronomical. Breeders of AKC breeds are now requiring dna testing for PRA, hips, breed specific issues.
I’m a standard poodle fan but these golden and lab doodles are really great dogs. We inherited a golden doodle and he’s really great. He’s got the poodle smarts with the golden adoration. It’s FranKly a GREAT mix if you can handle a giant dog.
I have a 10 year old labradoodle who is basically an overgrown lap dog, very smart and and loves affection. He is a big lazy cuddle bug. I also have a 9 year old groodle if you didn't know how old he was you would swear he was a 6 month old puppy. He wants to play all the timeand would much rather wrastle and chase than cuddle or pet. He is affectionate when he is tired but he is so mischievous and comical he keeps us laughing all the time. Brst dogs ever!
We have an F1 beautiful blonde golden doodle. She is 58 lbs, needs exercise, very sweet natured and sensitive, and she is shy towards strangers until she has time to adjust. We also have a multi-generation mini labradoodle who is very cute and fun, friendly and outgoing, but very similar in personality and grooming needs to a mini poodle. I often ask her, “where’s your labra”? Love them both, but would look for a small size F1 or F2 golden doodle if I were to get another. I personally prefer 1/2 golden + 1/2 poodle over the ones bred back to a poodle.
I have a Doodle. She is a rescue and we connected back in 2010, Her name is BOO. I call her a Mystery Doodle because she hasn't divulged who her parents are. Without a doubt the best dog I have ever had.
I have 2 Goldendoodle’s; one Male (5.5 years old)cream colored with Apricot colored stripe down his back❤️ And a Red female (4 years old) that is 95 lbs of pure Love I have had dogs forever & have to say they are the most Loyal, Loving, Smart Dogs I’ve ever had; Like I seriously feel that the can Look into my soul; they can tell when we are sad or if something just isn’t right. One of them is fiercely protective of us ( due to PTSD; we were attacked by a pit bull when she was a pup) and acts aggressive & barks but other than that thinks she’s a lap dog & wants to be patted 24/7❤️I get sad thinking that someday they’ll be gone😭it’s not fair that we only have them for 10-13 years!!
We lost our 13 year old labradoodle last year. Best companion after a long line of great companions. Loved camping and the beach. Good with kids and other pets. High energy at first but calmed down about age 2. Mostly easy to train, tho a couple of life-Long issues. He was curly and needed grooming every month at least $85.00. He also had a long string of very serious illnesses, seizure disorder, immune blood diseases, cancer. I’m grateful we could afford to treat him while his quality of life was still good. We had a good breeder, so I guess illnesses were bad luck, but I’ve since read that the poodle mixes are susceptible. Be sure to research.
I have a mini labradoodle and a medium Goldendoodle. They are both amazing dogs, and I would encourage someone to get either breed. Love them both so much! They are lovers and people pleasers. You do have to brush them regularly to prevent matting, but they are so docile that they aren’t difficult to brush.
We’ve had our labradoodle for 11 years. Amazing family member. Your comments are on the money in all areas. We are lucky someone suggested pet insurance! Yes our curly child is expensive. However she is the best dog we’ve ever owed. We are amazed at her humanness. She is tapping my foot as I write this. She hates computers..

I have a 5 year old chocolate labradoodle, and he is seriously the best dog! He loves everyone, but he does require grooming every couple months and he has sensitive skin. I wouldn't trade him though. Enjoy your pup 😊
Let me know where to get one please! RIP !

My Labradoodle was a giant! He was an Fb1 and weighed 126 lbs, 32 inches from nape to base of tail.
He was gentle towards babies and cautious around furniture. He was not only my son's "brother, he was my therapy partner.
I have a goldendoodle and more than anything want him to always be fluffy and want to brush him everyday but he just doesn’t let me :( any tips??
But they won’t.. and complain about the cost.
Thanks Lyric Plur. What’s the best type of brush for them?
@@alberrykl lots of positive praise & patience. I have aussiedoodles and they are high maintenance and high energy. At the beginning just brush a small area and give training treats, they are very small treats and I have not had weight issues with mine. So maybe 3 - 5 times a day for 5 minutes, depending on your availability brush and area and treat with lots of happy praise. A great time to start would be after a professional grooming because the hair would be untangled and short. I hope this helps . BTW I am not a trainer I am only speaking from what has worked for me.

Oh I’m sorry for your loss. My doodle is so old and I know how it feels. They are amazing dogs

Hi Ginger, how are you doing and what is the weather like? God bless
To each their own.
snobbery. They are rude.
Why they in shelters, too many bred, & can't find homes. Purebreds line bred for centuries, know what to expect temperament, size etc. Purebreds end up shelters too , certain breeds over produced. Look at the "pitbull" problem.

They are beginning to see very ill dogs
because breeding is an art form.
I’m with you on that!! I wanted non-shedding, sweet, and smart and I got that.💕
Yes pure standard poodle team!!

@@yeseniapacheco1164 TY for your feedback. My disability would prevent me from using a scissors, maybe at least the trimmer.

@@GEOMETRICINK not for me...I'm only considering one because I want the lack of shedding from the poodle but I want the lab personality more...

Both choices are great choices. From my experience, the standard poodle was the best choice.
@S J I needed a show dog that I could also use as a service dog. So for me, the standard was the best choice.
L
Agree. I have two standard poodles and they are amazing.
My Standard Poodles are super smart & fun & adorable!! Easier for grooming....
The standard poodle is the best choice, poodle mutts are not a good choice if you plan on buying them
I have 3 Goldendoodles and 1 Sheepadoodle.
Labradoodle is psychic! And she helps me with depression and headaches. :)
We have had two smart, loyal, lover Standard Poodles. THE BEST!
I have 2 Standard Poodles. One is a Parti white & brown. Perfect dogs!!
I'm a groomer, my experience with doodles is usually not great. Meanwhile the POODLES I work on? Hardly ever a problem. I've had a mini poodle myself for almost 20 years. And I just got another mini poodle currently 5 months old. They are a phenomenal breed!
I agree, just get a poodle.
Me and my wife are getting a golden doodle as our first puppy together! I’m so excited 😆
"My wife and I" not "me and my wife"
You will love it. Sooooo affectionate and fun loving
Have you two gotten your pup yet? 😀
Simeon Webb idc what u think
Simeon Webb and when did I aks
@Simeon Webb sounds like jealousy
I have a golden doodle he is a barker we rescued him at 7 mos. He is very loving considering he came from a bad situation
I have a aussie labradoodle and he is 11 weeks, he is litterly the sweetest thing ever!!
I adore all the Oodley Doodley mixes! They're all amazing!

Our girl Summer is about 9 months old and is just a great big teddy bear, she met our grandkids the other day and got on great although the kids got a bit rougher than she was used to, but she was so gentle, all she wanted to do was give them licks. great dog and will see what she is like in about 10 years.
@@reatonable any idea? My Molly doodle is died last January.😥😥😥😥I must have a doodle girl beside me🙏❤❤
We just added a doodle to our menagerie!
No they are not lmao

All dogs are awesome!! Very informational!!
I have a black mini goldendoodle and he is the sweetest me and my family love him so much
How big is the mini? I want one that want get over 24 lbs

@@harlowmckeever7638 this is very very helpful!! Thank you!
i agree! spot on. we have two mini goldendoodles and a labradoodle. love them to pieces!
Standard Poodles are a sure thing. Crosses are not. However, health is critical and starting with healthy and tested parents.
Tons of messes with irresponsible crosses. Visit any grooming group
I think I will just get a poodle! I have owned labs, goldens and a poodle. Love them all
Hi Rodney, how are you doing and what is the weather like? God bless
We have a Labradoodle. She is shy around strangers. Loving and loves to run and play ball. Loves attention! Beautiful dog.
I'm getting a golden doodle. She will come to us the end of July. so excited.
d.
I have a Doubledoodle (half goldendoodle and half labradoodle) She’s AMAZING!!!
Breed from it, then you’ll have a triple doodle! Right?
Ah I'm getting one of those in a few weeks so excited!
l33ners T congratulations! They’re such smart and sweet dogs. I think it’s because of the mix. But, i’ve met a lot of doodles and they’re all wonderful!
Daryl Clifford if he breeds it with another doubledoodle, the result would be a fourdoodle
That’s cute
I already have a Golden doodle of 14 pounds, we just adore our Molly she is very obedient, but a bit jealous of other dogs, she is not agressive at all, if my husband and I hug she want’s to be part of it and barks to let us know, she’s very sociable and needs a lot of exercise, but we made a very good choice when choosing her we just love her so much !!!
I love them both!!
I just got a Goldendoodle and he is the sweetest! Thank you for the advice!
*THE POODLE!*
-Comes in all sizes
-Comes in several colors
-2nd most intelligent breed (border collie is first but you need to be very energetic to keep up)
-Quick learner
-Is a real dog, despite the silly show dog haircuts they're required to wear. No poodle owner ever has to have their poodle groomed in such a fashion
As with all dogs, I recommend adopting before shopping. 🐕
I have had 8 standards in my life. Love my poodles.
Border collie lover!!! Smartest dogs ever!
They are perfect (speaking of the golden/poodle mix myself 🥰

So much for the idea that crossbreed dogs are healthier
