I wish I had seen this in theaters, the sound design was amazing. For those of you who saw it on the big screen, how was your experience? Did the jump scares also get you?
Sound design was brilliant. And the creepy subtle images of the devil with goat horns hiding in the shadows throughout the movie! Apparently there are twelve shots of him but i only found nine.
You had a great reaction to it. A couple of things the director Perkins himself stated: What happens to Ruby is left to the viewer, altough like you noticed yourself, the doll of a child must be destroyed in order to save them from the curse. And like you noticed as well,Kobble was a failed glam-rock star who made a path with the devil, which put him onto cursing/murdering families. Those were things the director stated, but Id like to add more: The reason young Lee Harker took no problem in going outside when she saw Kobble's car is pointed out by her mother "never had any visitor,no strangers,no friends",so it makes sense curiosity took ahold of her in that moment. You said Lee should have instantly shot Agent Carter the moment she stepped into the house, but you have to keep in mind that she knew doing that would break the curse that protected her since she was a child, therefore she was facing eternal damnation in exchange of saving others, not an easy decision. It's a must-rewatch movie,as on a second watching I'm sure you will notice the "devil" appearing in the background around a dozen times. A lot of people were disappointed by this movie,I think it has to do with the fact that its a very artsy/arthouse type of movie, the characters are so grounded that they are as large as the world they are in,much like The Shining, the type of movie where even if the police does exist, since the only characters who matter are the ones shown on screen, there is not much of a need for "100% realism",there is no such rule in art nor cinematography anyways; There are also many genres of horror, this one was a psycho thriller with paranormal elements,a mix of The Witch and Silence of the Lambs, and I think it did its job super well. Alot of people also think it has way too many fun/cringe moments, such as Kobble's singing and shouting, yet many horror cult classics like Texas Chainsaw and Childs Play have those elements as well (the bad acting in the first TCM or when Chucky starts cussing out Andy's mom),the truth is:horror and comedy go hand in hand sometimes! I like that you gave Cage some appreciation,he is one of my fav actors even tho so many others always mock him without realizing he has the talent to put his everything into a scene like in this movie, his acting as Kobble actually reminded me of real interactions I had with very unsettling people irl. Also,if you'll excuse such a long comment(I rarely write anything online),Id lastly like to tell you that you gained a new subscriber.
@egsmichellemachete7047 heyyy!!! Omg dont even worry i love long comments. I cant believe he was actually a failed singer, i live when a piece of a charscter is so ingrained in them that yiu can know things about them. At first i tought he was just veing quirky but there was ebough details to make me feel it was part of him. Nicola Cage has been around so long, he has such a range and I was so happy to see him doing a character like Kobble. Abd youre right about the choice being hard for her to simply kill them when she entered the house. I didnt put myself in her shoes, it would be hard for her to make that decision. Especially because of her mom. I'm happy you enjoyed my reaction. 👽
The initial jumpscare when Nic Cage crouches into frame and then the polaroid scare with the flashing neon colors both had me SHAKING in theaters, like my blood actually ran cold from the opening scene til credits ran. And yes, the sound design is phenomenal at building dread and making every scene uncomfortably tense, in addition to how EVERY shot has an open door or something behind the characters to make you uneasy
Yes rewatching it made so much more sense when you know everything. I love being able to rewatch and catch the clues and context we cant catch on the first watch
Nic Cage's perfomance is delightful. That "Daddyyy Mommyyyyy" in the car and all the singing and shit. Aaaaaahhhhhh I live gurl. I love crazy bitches in horror movies.
That "Hail Satan" and kissing the air. BLEW ME AWAY! it was perfeft!!! He was coocoo for cocopuff in the best way possible. The was the cherry on top.😍😍
Hiii yes yes horror movies are the bulk of my movie reaction. There will be planty more to come. Make sure you check out my movie playlist, most of them are horror/ horror adjacent 😁
yooooo a new reaction channel!! subbed, i loved your video and discussion of the movie. i liked this movie a lot! Definitely my favorite from Oz Perkins by a country mile. personally i wished the twist that [SPOILERS] Lee's mom was involved in the murders had been foreshadowed more heavily, and also (and this is just my ex-catholic, easily irritated with xtian imagery ass talking) whenever a modern movie is like "and the villain is the real, actual The Devil Satan Himself!" i'm kind of underwhelmed and not scared. like, that was a good scary choice when Rosemary's Baby did it but that movie came out in 1968 that said, this movie got under my SKIN it was crazy, i was paranoid all night when i got home from seeing it and when i opened my front door i smelled something unfamiliar and for a split second i was CONVINCED there was someone in my apartment before i remembered i just used a new cleaning product earlier and that's what the smell was lol
This is definitely the kind of movie that stays with you long after seeing it. "The devil made me do it" trope is definitely not scary but for me in this one i actually liked it because I was so sure it wasnt gonna be that for some reason 🤣
Just subscribed I'd love to see you do a reaction to the film Eden Lake which is a brilliant UK Thriller it's very good and I think it will provoke a very powerful reaction from you!
I havent seen Psycho yet, its on my list for sure for october! I didnt know his son directed the movie, thank you for your comment or I nay have never known.
I've seen Longlegs theee times now. It's such a great horror movie. One of my fav horrut movies now. A recommendation that you might be interested in watching is a TV series. A sci-fi/horror series. Dark on Netflix. It's mysterious It's intricate It's baffling Its bewildering It's crazy and WTF It's relentlessly mind-boggling It's overflowing with clues and foreshadowing It's relentlessly.... dark.
@AnotherReactionChannel_ Yup. I saw the Devil in several scenes, and I'm pretty sure I missed a few. I realized later that I saw an upside-down triangle in her image test. Which foreshadowed her breaking the case later.😉
I loved your reaction and analysis about the film. Please react to the new Irish horror film called Oddity. Its so bizarre, good and creepy as hell. In my opinion, its the best horror movie of 2024 until now.
I recommend watching the movie "Trap" next! It's not horror but it has an interesting premise and it will keep you on the edge of the seat the whole time. Btw I subscribed, will check out your other videos
Next time try putting a mirror next to your tv. That way you sit in silence and watch yourself watch a show. You are now a reactor. Live long and prosper.👽✌🏿
@@AnotherReactionChannel_ You miss things by being loud and not paying attention. I understand you are a content creator though so there is some reaction required. Just let it be natural. If that is your natural self then bless your heart
@legendlambchop5 yes depending on the movie, like this one where you have to figure out a case, i talk like mad. Question everything and trust i miss things when im dead silent. You might enjoy my inside out reaction tomorrow, i was so sad i barely say anything 😉😉

Takes place in the 90s before cellphones and computers
Im not sure if you noticed, but the devil appears in the background of the movie a good amount of times.
Yes i saw it about 5 times but someone told me it comes up like 12 times in the movie. I havent dmfound all of them yet.
Just happy as peaches
