An enchanting set, Bob -- nice to find the focus on somewhat later Reisman! My favorites have to be the spectacular instrumentals, especially "Limehouse Blues." I love Leo's take on "Mimi," too. The story line in the other Rodgers & Hart tune might be lost on some younger listeners: Thursday night and Sunday afternoon were a reference to "maid's day/night off," which the wealthy set of the period had to "cope" with. There seems to have been a mutual fascination of the classes in those very class-conscious days. Basie's band did another tune on the "maid's day off" theme, an obscurity entitled simply "Thursday."
_Obscurity_ is an apt, quasi literal description. I once featured this song in a compilation of mine called "Famous Bs, forgotten As", as that particular side B was "Shorty George", one of the Basie classics.

the things you have discussed in this video is nice and appreciable, well I got the reference from the comment box of another popular channel. after seeing your channel I can easily predict that after a little work your channel can grow up to great heights. the content you are making has sufficient quality and quantity so after a little SEO surely many people would like it and will appreciate too. i don't exactly know the weather you are interested in growing your channel but if you want it badly then there are lots and lots of +ve hopes #Scepticismdream #Skepticismdream #moderndayempire
Perhaps you can shed light..i love the cuban casino sound of the 1930's (peanut vendor type sound)..but also sounds of Nat Gonolla, ofcourse 1930's fats waller..what i'm trying to say is its extremley hard to find UPBEAT 1930's tunes/artists..most 30's tracks are too excruciatingly slow for me and put me to sleep really...a short list of artists or tunes i may have missed while spending countless hours trying to find "that track" would be cheerfully accepted :)

Elizabeth, I had no idea about the song Ev'ry Sunday Afternoon, so that was an education for me. Thank you for that information, much appreciated.
Great compilation title Henri!

Still sounded good into the 40's
I agree Fred but I read it's why he fell out of favor in the 40's.
