I make these at home, it’s very easy to make, here’s the recipe. 2 racks of baby back or spare ribs (chopped into sections) 3/4 cup of molasses 1/4 cup of honey 2/3 cup of Shiraz wine 5-6 cloves of garlic(add more to preference) - peeled and chopped Toasted sesame seeds(optional) In a deep pot, place the ribs facing sideways down, add the wine, molasses, garlic and honey. Bring it to a boil for one hour(half hour to 45 minutes for one rack of ribs)on medium-high heat(maintain a good boil)- during the process, occasionally stir and move the ribs from the bottom-up to keep the cooking even. After an hour the ribs should be cooked all the way through and tender, remove the ribs from the pot and put them in a large separate metal bowl or large tray/plate. In the pot you cooked the ribs in, there should be the boiled down liquid left over. This will be the sauce you use for caramelizing the ribs on the grill. During the time the ribs are cooking, set up the grill and make sure the coals are white hot. Put the ribs on a few at a time on the grill(about 4) in a group. Add the sauce from the pot onto the ribs and get a good flame going on the ribs, this is to sear the ribs and make them crispy and caramelize the sauce onto the ribs. Do this for about 2 minutes turning the ribs and saucing them completely, and when you see the surface of the ribs just bubbling, remove them and finish the rest of the ribs in this manner. In a Toaster oven, toast the sesame seeds, these will be used to put on the ribs when you are ready to grill.

Before social media, Duck was one of those haute cuisine "wow" foods when it was determined by Zagat and Food Network. It's not difficult to do well for a professional chef but can be difficult for home cooks cuz theres very little margin for error with the cook on the meat. Spencer's attempt was probably as good as possible for someone with so little experience (and no talent)

My guess is Kenny just told them the first season of his "cooking show" was in production and they just assumed it never got aired or picked up, but I like to imagine that after Showcased got the show and it become popular they were like "wait a minute, I know that guy" I also love that Spenny stumbled across one of the most renowned sushi chefs in the world and probably the best Japanese chef in Canada but couldn't even communicate with him.
The only thing that could’ve made this episode better is after Spenny tells the chef that he forgot the salt and the guy says it’s no big deal, all the judges say, “it was good, but it just needed more salt.”
Maybe have teams. I know it wouldn't quite be the same. But having others who will suffer if either fails would add another level to it. IMO of course.
First time I casually watched the series, I thought why is Kenny being so mean to Spenny? But after watching spenny for the past 20 year and getting to know his actual psychopathic self, I now ask ‘why is Kenny so kind to Spenny?’
I showed a friend an episode where Kenny cheated and won and she said "i hate him, he's awful. I like Spenny." So i immediately showed her "who has the bigger balls" where he threatens to unalive himself, and she said "they're both awful. " lol!@@John.Flower.Productions
Lmao this was me too, exactly. I used to watch KvS back during its original run on Showcase, c. 2008 and thereabouts. For a good long while I was a Spenny fan, always hoping Spenny would win. But as I watched the entire series front to back I realized how much of a dick and chump Spenny is, and especially how painfully self-righteous he is. He also vehemently denies when Kenny is more clever and able to think outside of the box, insisting that everything creative he does is a "stupid gimmick." Kenny on the other hand is not only clever and creative, as mentioned above, but he is also charming and he doesn't take himself so annoyingly serious like Spenny, who lives life with a broomstick up his ass. I also met them once, like many fans, and Spenny wasn't at all receptive to even just a casual conversation. He could have been just having a bad day, which happens to all of us, but he just came off as grumpy and rude. Kenny on the other hand was very happy just to have a nice casual conversation, and he left me with an even more positive impression than I had of him already before.
2 racks of ribs, make some slices in ribs (or you can use chicken thighs or any meat) 1/4 cup molasses 6-8 cloves of garlic or 2-3 heaping tablespoons of the chopped store-bought. pour in a 1/3-1/2 -a bottle of white or red wine, a Guinness or beer (1 can or less). make sure you almost cover the ribs in liquid boil the shit out of them with the lid off keep adding some more liquid molasses or garlic if need be, I usually don't stir a lot so it doesn't burn when the ribs are cooked for 20-30 min you'll see the bones exposed but the longer they cook the better pull them out, boil the sauce down into THICK taffy and then add the ribs again (it'll get wet again for a bit so keep the heat high and keep stirring till its a thick taffy again! when its done and (be careful it burns fast at those high heats) i toss in sliced green onions and maybe some sesame seeds once its on the plate. enjoy! you fuckers owe me for this!

This is such an important episode for the series. If Spenny was successful here, maybe he would have cheated more often, and the show would have been worse for it. Also, this episode has the first truly legendary humiliation. Spenny not being able to eat it is hilarious just from the fact that he coughs it up like a cat coughs up a hairball 20:38.
