    Unfortunatly, Eastman has priced this in the US at $5,235 which is more expensive than a Yanigasawa TW01 and on par with a Yamaha 82Z. I never thought I would see China horns priced at that level.

    Hi guys if you are going to the effort of recording all your mouth pieces is there no way you can add a sound graphic to help us idebtify the difference in tones etc when you talk about them ?

    Given the title of the video, I was expecting a lot more info on the "most advanced" horn. That said, kudos to George for pronouncing "flautist" correctly. Pretty much everyone I've ever heard use the word pronounces the vowel sound in the first syllable as in "cow," which is wrong. (I just say "flutist," and avoid the issue altogether.)

    How is it that saxophone manufacturers keep adding stuff like that, but have refused to make a forked Eb since the 30s? Yes, it needed some help and sounded a bit muted, but that should be fixed, not removed!

    • @georgefarrar3000
      @georgefarrar3000 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because saxes don’t need forked eb?

      I like the right hand G# trill key on old Conns.

    • @AFN2750
      @AFN2750 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@rgx6083I play almost exclusively old conns, new wonder iis, specifically, and the G# trill key isn’t one I use a lot, but it really doesn’t hurt anything either, and there’s no reason to not have it. To me it’s kinda like a high F# key, if you get to the point where you need to play the note, you can play it altissimo, but it’s nice to have anyways, so why not.

    I’m a 8th grade tenor sax player I wish I had one like this I play on a school tenor it’s a selmer bundy that hasn’t been fixed since like 2001 it’s not great condition tone is not good and it struggles with low notes hopefully in a year or two I’ll get a better tenor
    Update: just got a new tenor someone donated a new sax to the school it sounds so much better and I can actually play songs and sound good now

      Let us know if you need any help choosing your next saxophone! If you can get your current instrument to a technician, it might help get those low notes playing better for you.

      @@SAXV2 yeah I have no clue what tenor to go to next and I’m broke I can’t get it to a technician around me they all cost way to much is there any way you guys could make a video about best tenors for a budget or something like that?

      I'm not really an expert. BUT:
      When you're ready to take the step of buying your own,
      1. Get a used horn. Outside of Paris Selmers and other big names, they are usually less expensive, and play just as well.
      2. See if you can convince your teacher to go shopping with you, to try out horns. They may have a good idea of what sounds and works the best.

      I’m in my SR year been playing for about 8 years on all saxes and for tenors I really liked Yamaha and yanagasawa but those are a little bit pricy so

      In eighth grade I went from a Bundy alto to a Yamaha 62. Truly magical horn! If you're going new, I second the suggestion of getting a teacher to accompany you if possible and try different saxes. For used, a tech can work wonders with a used horn. My Selmer Signet (practically a Bundy) tenor from eBay and repairs from a tech will barely pass $500 in total cost.

    I have an Eastman 52nd St that is a couple of years old. Would it have the DS mechanism? Can you tell us more about what the mechanism is and how it works? Thanks and Merry Christmas.

    • @ewhizzle
      @ewhizzle ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't think you do. It's likely the usual key feet that most modern saxes have since the Selmer SBA/Mark VI but might have the adjustment screws that the Yamaha's popularized. If you do they'll look like little rectangular feet with felt on them that run parallel with the body tube.

    TBH even with my Beats headphones on I couldn't tell the difference between the two Eastman saxes. They're nice looking instruments though and I particularly like the look of the 52nd Street. Like others, I'd like to nerd out more over the mechanism and find out more about it.

    I think it's OK to have a generic unknown brand guitar on display. It's the equivalent of guitar shops pretending they sell proper instruments by having a token saxophone on display.
