    Most of y'all wont care, but my neighbour has been farming his land for over 80 years, he's 98 now and still takes care of his farm, with help from his sons, and grandsons. He sold me some of his land, below market value, which was adjacent to my parents house so that I could build a home there and be closer to my parents. The guy is a saint.

      Bill Gates knows hopefully. Biggest farmer in usa. He even came in local in seattle and pulled a bunch of bs that got Molbaks shut down. Molbaks was there for near 70 years and you could buy literally ANY kind of plant. They’d find it for you even. It was the seed , start and seedling source of so sow many home and small gardens. ..it was community. It was beautiful. The smell of their gardens amazing.
      They conned them into so,e big convoluted development deal that featured them as the center of everything,….and then pulled their lawer magiic. Delays. And trickery till i dont kniw what but suddenly plants had no part. Just CONcrete and Steal. .

      I'm happy for this guy. Usually farmers tell horror stories of GMO farms accusing them of stealing their crop even though they know their seeds are just being blown by the wind. Don't get me wrong, GMOs products are necessary to sustain the human race. But they shouldn't be used to justify suing a farmer out of business and taking his land. That was the situation in 2004 though, hopefully they've created laws to protect independent farmers by now.

      That would destroy the crop, moisture levels have to be low to harvest in order to prevent mold and rotting. Also, the higher the moisture percentage, the less mills buying it will pay.

      The government helps farmers a lot when anything happens to them when they don’t make profits in years they get help.     The government protects all aspects of farming. It protects farmers from fluctuations in prices and revenues and subsidizes their insurance, land improvements loans, marketing, research and export sales. To bad corporate America is taking over.

    I worked on a farm after I got out of basic training and AIT before I started to build engines. We were up at four and worked until eleven every night, we had to know how to be mechanics, plumbers, electricians and everything else. I have nothing but respect for farmers.

Probably why I'm pretty much worn out now. Sadly I need more sleep than wake now. Advice I'd give is... all in moderation. Nobody thanks you for literally killing yourself.

      Most of that money gets thrown back into the farm. The fuel and utility bills it takes to run a farm is unimaginable.

      Sorry but not true. I know quite a few farmers that are doing quite well for themselves. If they don't make money, the government bails them out so they do. Trust me, there's plenty of money in farming

    One of the greatest injustices on farmers is that they're no longer able to use seeds from last years crop to grow their next seasons crop. Now, the government forces farmers to buy THEIR seeds or face penalties.

I didn’t say THE most subsidized, but along with the energy sector and transportation, agriculture is one of the top beneficiaries of federal funds. This is because domestic food production is important for national security
