The logic is (a+b)^3=a^3+3*(a^2)*b+3*a*(b^2)+b^3.
Eg. 14^3 = 10^3(=1000)+3*10*10*4(=1200)+3*10*4*4(=480)+4^3(=64) = 2744.

isn't this the formula (a+b)^3 = a^3 +b^3+3a^2b +3ab^2 + 3 ab(a+b), this formula might be wrong but something like this
