Well done Rick. Another awesome project. I absolutely adore the peaceful and tranquil garden you're creating. Let's hope you find time to sit in it and enjoy the beauty of it all. 🙂
I hope the pond and the bench serve you well. Hopefully some nice summer evenings will be spent out there with a glass of wine and a few buddies :) Take care Rick. Jazz.
you put a lot of love and care and work into everything you do Rick💗 i love that it's a deep pool of water and the fountains everywhere are gorgeous! The bamboo and Buddha makes a lush sanctuary and I like how you've laid the rocks and stones. Your Japanese garden is coming along beautifully .. it's such a pleasure watching it taking shape with you. Thank you so much for sharing it🌿🍃
The garden's looking great Rick, a real haven of tranquility. I love the Japenese theme of it all as well. Quite envious as I live in flat and don't have a garden! :)
Your garden is turning in to a little peaceful sanctuary, looks a lovely place to sit in and chill out. Would love water features in our garden but have a bunch of dogs that would ruin it in no time lol. Well done enjoyed that vid too.
HI RICK ONE QUESTION WHERE DO YOU BUY THIS KIT ARE YOU IN UK I' M IN THE STATES I WILL LOVE TO GET ONE KIT LIKE THIS ONE CAN YOU POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION THANK U JOSE.
your garden is looking good thank you for sharing your new pond build i must try and do my pond but need some help as with David kidney problem it can be difficult for him when doing anything heavy like that blessing to you
That's a really nice yard. Water features are pretty great but I'm too lazy to keep one up properly. I'll have to settle for stone and some Japanese iron bells/windchimes.
Thanks Rick for sharing your creative ideas, I loved that lay out at the end with the bamboos. I wonder if you will put a potted lily in the pond? A wonderful backyard sanctuary.
Rick, that's Beautiful! I also love BOTH new benches, and the trees behind the pond was Perfect! I'm quite shocked at how wonderful it turned out. I'm not used to "Comfort Areas," being someone that's always just running to get things done, so Comfort is foreign to me. Only proves that I need more of it, and this is just Gorgeous! I think you have talked me into making a space like this for myself when I start my backyard remodel next week. As usual I was being all organized thinking, and never even considered a nice quiet comfortable place to relax. Funny thing is, I could do this with a lot of things I already own. Maybe I had it in my mind all along, and didn't even know it. What a great video. Thank you so much, Sheila PS Now I will have to find a great water feature for my yard. I sure love yours.
rickvanman Yep, I'm getting ready to make a couple this week, if I'm not busy building an Ark! LOL Lots of rain, but should get better this coming week. Woo Hoo! Bless, Sheila
Thanks. I can't remember where I purchased mine (might have been amazon), but a google search for "raised pond kit" will show there are plenty of these kits out there :o)
Hi Rick, Your neighbours made a good job of that fence. Is it wood or plastic, if wood I would love to know the make of paint they used as it is a really good finish.
Sonny that is wonderfully made a Video! Your little Yard is spotless and very clean. I would go for a little waterfall on the side and have a submslb. pump to keep it all going or just a fountain. Look forward to see more. Your relaxed style would do me nicely in Australia!
I'm pretty sure those strips were supposed to be the base, but no matter - the pond looks fantastic! I'm loving the looks of your garden, Rick! Very Zen! :) Kudos, mate!
I think those strips of wood are used if you choose not to install the seats so it all looks flush on top, if you only require one seat then not having the other two will give you a bit more space round the edge
Hi Rick. You're gardens really starting to look really good. Quick question, what's the folky sounding song you play in the video as you start laying out the pond base? I've heard it before in your allotment videos and really like it!
Great pond Rick :) I think those pieces of wood left over are probably for finishing the off top if you do not wish to install all of the seats ? Just a thought :)
What a relaxing back yard meditation area you have created! Great for the coming summer months. Hope you spend many relaxing hours there! Will you be adding coy fish to the pond? Did you figure out what the extra boards were for? Thanks again for the video share! Gael
Did you take the whole thing apart, or did you decide to just live with it as is? The gold fish will be easier I expect. I expect the larger fish would probably cause you to clean the pond more often.
At first i thought that buddha statue was one of those novelties you see pissing into a pool, it kinda takes the shine of its spiritual elegance somewhat
Great work Rick, do you plan to get any fish for the pond? Also thought your garden used to have a lot more greenery, still coming along very nicely enjoy your videos as always
Looks good Rick. It is a shame that you didn't put the half-logs on the bottom - it would have been a lot more stable and secure I'm sure. Thanks for sharing though - I love your videos and always look forward to them :-)
I think you were right about that wood left over being for the base but it should have been shown in the plans.Be carful what you do with the bamboo as we made the mistake of planting it straight into the ground and it spreads like wildfire and I spend a lot of time trying to cut it back
Have you decided on what fish your having may I suggest ORANDAS fantails or maybe even blackmoores these fish grow to a standard size and in that size pond you can have at least 10 they will grow larger later on and will be a very entertaining fish as I have them in my 300 gallon pond also
Rick, The music is great in this vid...good classic stuff! Also the production values are wonderful...did you upgrade to editing at 4K? The lightening/contrast/colors and sound is very nicely polished. Looks like you are getting that backyard Feng Shui'd slowly but surely into, shall we say, a nice little Japanese Gardenish kinda thing...your own personal little Shangri La...lol. Maybe you'll be bitten by the Garden Pond to start a Koi Pond, in the future. I've built two Koi Ponds for myself and helped two of my friends build them as well. Do you follow James Wong(Botanist that has done shows on backyard gardening/Herbalism...etc.)? If you need a pointer or two on Garden/Koi Ponds...I've learned quite a bit through trial and error...lol, and have had good info. passed on to me, and would gladly pass it on to you. I think that Garden Pond you just built might be problematic for you during winter time...being that it is above ground. Cheers mate,Tommy
+Tommy Lee Thanks Tommy. Still filming in 1080 - only at 60fps. I used to keep Koi in a big pond a number of years ago but it was a constant battle with green water, cats, and maintaining filter systems etc. It was nice to watch them but it was pretty full-on. I'm thinking more in terms of goldfish with this one LOL!
+rickvanman You are most welcome Rick, yup no doubt that a Koi pond can be a major pain in the butt, it truly is an art to getting them balanced and staying clear on their own. Still if you do go with goldfish, I recommend getting yourself a few Algae Eaters...Chinese and Loaches are nice...and of course you know that Plecostomus are great at taking care of Algae, and Crawfish too do a good job. Water snails are nice...BUT they will eat the hell out of many types of ornamental water plants. Maybe an Archer fish would be fun, way cool to watch them knock bugs off with squirts of water! Anyway looking forward to seeing what you do with the Garden Pond, and how your backyard Shangri La evolves into!
Hi Rick please start with the half logs and not the whole logs. Box should not be opened with a knife as it says on the big red label. Looks great in the end 👍
Wish this was available in the US☹ I like the natural theme of this since I'm for a Japanese vibe in our (mostly) cemented backyard. I also only have plants in pots.
Hi Rick ~ am I remembering correctly ? a video from way back - not featuring a pond - but rather a large chocolate...dessert ? Have a very happy Wednesday young man. With kind regards, ahv
That looks amazing Rick, enjoyed this a lot, you can relax to the sound of water trickling, very nice indeed. Very nicely filmed too. Thanks for sharing it. :-)
Great idea; none of that digging involved ;-) But how do the Frogs get in and out? .... (You'll have to build a ramp :-) Nothing wrong with an up-side-down pond either ..... as long as you get your fish from Australia .....
You put the seats on wrong. The sticks you put on were upside down. The stick can fit in the little notches on the outher boards and the two peices on the bottom of the chairs went into the notches
its ascetically pleasing but it would be nice to see someone a little more like your older vlogs (where you was to build your own) its nice to see you seem a lot happier nowadays though I think the no sugar diet is doing you good
+Ryan Hare Hi Ryan. I used to have a Labrador & they do make great company. I've often thought about getting another dog, but I think with my particular lifestyle, a pet of any kind can also become a bit of a metaphorical ball and chain. I see how friends and relatives are often tied-down and their options restricted by ownership of their pets. This is what is stopping me getting one at the moment.
+rickvanman Scudo gets around pretty well with his companion, even if you go abroad then its not much trouble to have it stay with friends or family for a couple of weeks a year
Rick, Just so you know the 3 pieces of wood that you had do go at the base....I know i made the same mistake !! I was chuckling to myself all the way through this Vlog... Cheers Steve
Your insane but then us living like chickens lined up in pens on a ball floating in space? doesnt help either. you could create a private area where the shed is to relax without being potentially spied on
Hi, Rick, First of all your garden looks great. One thing though, Buddha statuettes are not meant to be garden ornaments! They are similar to Christian's Jesus on a cross. What you wound NOT do to the Cross, you should NOT do to the Buddha statuettes either.
+tavit lertritsumpun A very interesting clash of cultures. Buddha statues over here are viewed as a symbol of peace and tranquility, they inspire a more centered state of being.
No I meant the way they are situated (on the ground) and as a garden ornament that may be seen as disrespectful to others who has Buddhist faith. Think of it this way if I had a Jesus picture as a floor mat and I didn't show them off publicly, no one would know or be offended by that. But if I show it publicly I am sure some Christians would not like it. By not showing it I think I give consideration to others (Christians).
That pond is terrible quality, the woods a joke, bet it cost a bit too. Nothing against you Rick but I think you could easily improve it's build quality.
+Augustas Makrickas I'm very interested to hear what your version of a low-maintainence, low budget garden would look like. I'm always open to suggestions to improve, so I'll keenly await your reply :-)
Well done Rick. Another awesome project. I absolutely adore the peaceful and tranquil garden you're creating. Let's hope you find time to sit in it and enjoy the beauty of it all. 🙂
It all looks great - it will be lovely to see how it looks with the planting around it. Well done!
Wow the pond adds a really nice touch, I think. Very nice
I hope the pond and the bench serve you well. Hopefully some nice summer evenings will be spent out there with a glass of wine and a few buddies :) Take care Rick. Jazz.
Such a pleasure to see you in the garden again. Thank you for bringing us along for the ride.
Excellent job on the pond. It is a nice addition to your tranquil sitting area!!
Hey Rick, that's a nice pond! I have to say I felt quite honored to see that you've had a statue made of me to sit next to it.
+Lufferov Glad you like it James ;o)
Cool back garden. Be aware that fish attract them long beaked birds ----- Herons! Always a pleasure watching your channel. Thanks!
Adult Lincoln logs lol, just a perfect little zen garden Rick!!!
Looks great. May you have many relaxing hours in your garden.
Lovely and peaceful, what a wonderful sanctuary.
you put a lot of love and care and work into everything you do Rick💗 i love that it's a deep pool of water and the fountains everywhere are gorgeous! The pond looks great! Your garden looks so relaxing, and the pond definitely adds to that :)
Has a great look to it. Nice to have somewhere to relax!
Wow nice, it's amazing how little thing can make something great but greatness is no little thing. Great job mate.
HI RICK ONE QUESTION WHERE DO YOU BUY THIS KIT ARE YOU IN UK I'
M IN THE STATES I WILL LOVE TO GET ONE KIT LIKE THIS ONE CAN YOU POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION THANK U JOSE.
Just Google "Raised pond kits" and something should show up in the search. I got mine from Amazon :o)
your garden is looking good thank you for sharing your new pond build i must try and do my pond but need some help as with David kidney problem it can be difficult for him when doing anything heavy like that blessing to you
Where did you get your shed from Rick ? Lovely garden !!
+Mike Beale Thanks Mike. Bought the shed years ago - some place online, cant remember :o)
That's a really nice yard. Water features are pretty great but I'm too lazy to keep one up properly. I'll have to settle for stone and some Japanese iron bells/windchimes.
You are a jack of all trades :] love love love your videoes . Great job with the pond.
+Amethystmoon69 Thank you :o)
amazing love it Rick great job

rickvanman Yep, I'm getting ready to make a couple this week, if I'm not busy building an Ark! LOL Lots of rain, but should get better this coming week. Woo Hoo! Bless, Sheila
Really nice! Looking forward to seeing how you complete the project.
Great relaxing space you got there. Love the editing of the video, feels like a big production show jaja.
Great job Rick!
Hi Rick, do you have a link for the bench seller?
cheers.
here you go: www.costco.co.uk/view/search?q=bench%3Arelevance%3AlastCategory%3ABenches+%26+Tables
Thanks Rick.
Your backyard reminds me of the backyard I had in California.
I love the look of your garden! May I ask where you purchased the kit from?
Thanks. I can't remember where I purchased mine (might have been amazon), but a google search for "raised pond kit" will show there are plenty of these kits out there :o)
Hi there Shea, our ponds can be purchased from most internet garden sites and also eBay! The 400 Gallon pool complete with liner is around £499.99
lovely garden rick, enjoyed this video :)
It looks great, I'd recommend getting a few pond plants to help filter and keep the water clear too :)
Hi Rick, Your neighbours made a good job of that fence. Is it wood or plastic, if wood I would love to know the make of paint they used as it is a really good finish.
Hi John, it;s UPVC plastic I think :o)
Really enjoyed this video. Did you discover what the extra wood was for?
Thanks Nick - Yes the extra wood was the base LOL!
Interesting assembly. It reminds me more of a hot tub than a pond. :)
Very nice!
Sonny that is wonderfully made a Video! Your little Yard is spotless and very clean. I would go for a little waterfall on the side and have a submslb. pump to keep it all going or just a fountain. Look forward to see more. Your relaxed style would do me nicely in Australia!
Cool Video.
Hi Rick, Nice one way better than the inflated swimming pool you can use it on warm summer days ;)
I'm pretty sure those strips were supposed to be the base, but no matter - the pond looks fantastic!
I'm loving the looks of your garden, Rick! Very Zen! :) Kudos, mate!
hope you worked out what the 'mystery' pieces of wood were for Rick?
I think those strips of wood are used if you choose not to install the seats so it all looks flush on top, if you only require one seat then not having the other two will give you a bit more space round the edge
It looks very relaxing. Nice video ^^
Hi Rick. You're gardens really starting to look really good. Quick question, what's the folky sounding song you play in the video as you start laying out the pond base? I've heard it before in your allotment videos and really like it!
+Robert Cousins Thanks Robert. The song is called "Happy Mandolin" and is from the TH-cam music library :o)
Thanks.
think the extra bits are for when you buy it without the seats
Scott Thomas nope. They are supposed to go down first.
It be great to see an update on the pond :)
Where did you purchase the pond kit? Looks almost exactly like Kims Ponds out of Canada.
Great pond Rick :) I think those pieces of wood left over are probably for finishing the off top if you do not wish to install all of the seats ? Just a thought :)
Zen Zen nope. They are supposed to go down first
the smal wooden planks go on top and the bench kinda things go one wall to the side
This video was so amazing !
beautifull.
What a relaxing back yard meditation area you have created! Great for the coming summer months. Hope you spend many relaxing hours there! Will you be adding coy fish to the pond? Did you figure out what the extra boards were for? Thanks again for the video share! Gael
Thanks Gael, went for goldfish in the end :o) Yes the extra wood was the bases LOL!
Did you take the whole thing apart, or did you decide to just live with it as is? The gold fish will be easier I expect. I expect the larger fish would probably cause you to clean the pond more often.
Just left it as it was Gael :o)
Yes I used to keep Koi, but looking after them was pretty full-on compared to goldfish.
I would do the same! Have a great weekend! Three day weekend here in the states--Memorial Day on Monday. Best! Gael
At first i thought that buddha statue was one of those novelties you see pissing into a pool, it kinda takes the shine of its spiritual elegance somewhat
Loving the new pond and results from the camera...You going to do a video review on the camera?
Great work Rick, do you plan to get any fish for the pond? Also thought your garden used to have a lot more greenery, still coming along very nicely enjoy your videos as always
Were you buy your pond from again mate
Nice guy great job!
hi rick the last piece was upside down it would fit otherway up so cutouts were ontop the seat would fit good luck
Nice video Rick - the pond looks great. I'm curious to know which camera you used. Do you mind telling us?
+Rob Sorensen Thanks Rob. Camera is the Panasonic AG-DVX200
+rickvanman Thanks Rick - that's a nice camera. :)
Looks good Rick. It is a shame that you didn't put the half-logs on the bottom - it would have been a lot more stable and secure I'm sure. Thanks for sharing though - I love your videos and always look forward to them :-)
Great video Rick. Pond looks great, are you going to put fish in it? Garden looks smart. Really enjoyed watching this.
+MarcusTDM Thanks Marcus :o) Yep going for just goldfish I think :o)

Went for standard goldfish in the end :o)
Nice relaxing space you've created there Rick :)
your a fast worker at times! do you use a speed-up spell like samantha from bewitched? very nice looking backyard
Rick,
The music is great in this vid...good classic stuff! Also the production values are wonderful...did you upgrade to editing at 4K? The lightening/contrast/colors and sound is very nicely polished.

Bro . do not remove the long wood (14.39)That's long timber you need to fix other way round. so the small trench will support to the top covering.
Beautiful work tho
Did you get rid of your picnic table?
Yes it was too big
Hi Rick ~ am I remembering correctly ? a video from way back - not featuring a pond - but rather a large chocolate...dessert ?
Have a very happy Wednesday young man. With kind regards, ahv
Wow, that was a a lifetime ago! LOL!
That is just incredible! You backyard has changed quite a bit, it looks amazing! Strange question, Where did you get that shirt?? I love it!!
+Ink Thanks Ink. Look up "DJ Fen" on eBay or amazon to find the shirt :o)
Thanks Rick!
That looks amazing Rick, enjoyed this a lot, you can relax to the sound of water trickling, very nice indeed. Very nicely filmed too. Thanks for sharing it. :-)
+007vauxhall Thanks Paul, glad you enjoyed it :o)
why not just move the bench you have?
+bowler8 It's really heavy :o(
Great idea; none of that digging involved ;-)
But how do the Frogs get in and out? .... (You'll have to build a ramp :-)
Nothing wrong with an up-side-down pond either ..... as long as you get your fish from Australia .....
+Pete Moring Loving your way of thinking :o) Nice idea for the frog ramp too - will see what materials I have that won't affect the fish.
looking forward to sing the new pond. ;-)
Nice low maintenance garden
it's beautiful
You put the seats on wrong. The sticks you put on were upside down. The stick can fit in the little notches on the outher boards and the two peices on the bottom of the chairs went into the notches
its ascetically pleasing but it would be nice to see someone a little more like your older vlogs (where you was to build your own) its nice to see you seem a lot happier nowadays though I think the no sugar diet is doing you good
Hey, Rick! I"ve always wanted to ask you this. Wouldn't you like to have a dog? A lovely little collie would be amazing company :)
+rickvanman Scudo gets around pretty well with his companion, even if you go abroad then its not much trouble to have it stay with friends or family for a couple of weeks a year
+Bionic Rasta Scudo couldn't go on holiday with his family last week because the place they were going to wouldn't accept dogs :-(
Rick, Just so you know the 3 pieces of wood that you had do go at the base....I know i made the same mistake !!
I was chuckling to myself all the way through this Vlog...
Cheers Steve
LOL! Glad to hear I wasn't the only one Steve :o) I can imagine that must have been quite amusing to watch me making the same mistake :o)
Love it!
Nice
wonders if you bought all them stones / or of your local beach lol
should have used different colored gravel in your yard, looking a bit bland
+bowler8 ~ Depending on where a person lives, you get what you can get. If I wanted what Rick is using, I wouldn't be able to get it where I live.
Internet ?
Yep, those thin pieces are for the base, I have the same pond. Doh 🙄
Shame you did not fit the liner correctly it’s two planks down not one
At least it wasn't a trapping yourself in the shed moment!
you didn't build it, you bought it and put assembled it.. link that shit. i want 1
Your insane but then us living like chickens lined up in pens on a ball floating in space? doesnt help either. you could create a private area where the shed is to relax without being potentially spied on
You look just a tiny but like Donald Trump in this video, lol
lol I thought the same thing. lol
15:00 lol
Hi, Rick, First of all your garden looks great. One thing though, Buddha statuettes are not meant to be garden ornaments! They are similar to Christian's Jesus on a cross. What you wound NOT do to the Cross, you should NOT do to the Buddha statuettes either.
+tavit lertritsumpun A very interesting clash of cultures. Buddha statues over here are viewed as a symbol of peace and tranquility, they inspire a more centered state of being.
+rickvanman I do know that as I spent 8 years in UK. I don't mean you should take them down but rather avoid showing them in public video.
+tavit lertritsumpun What would be the purpose for such avoidance?
+rickvanman Avoiding stepping on other's toe. Enjoy it by all means but have a little respect for others.
Why does my man look like Donald Trump
LOL! I get that a lot :)
Nice pond! you kind of look like Donald Trump tho and it is throwing me off lol
Donald trump looking ?
That pond is terrible quality, the woods a joke, bet it cost a bit too. Nothing against you Rick but I think you could easily improve it's build quality.
+Adam Evans , yeah I know what you mean :o)
+Augustas Makrickas I'm very interested to hear what your version of a low-maintainence, low budget garden would look like. I'm always open to suggestions to improve, so I'll keenly await your reply :-)
+Augustas Makrickas ...Not as cheap as your comment. Ignoramus.
You're clearly being negative and hateful just to TRY and bring someone down. What a sad sad individual you are.
+Augustas Makrickas not another one! Go target someone else you low life.
