I drove 1 hour to hear your sermon for years. I will also tell you, that those of us who knew you, the authentic you, knew you were/are a spiritual leader and servant. The rest was just the noise of gossip and false allegations, as the deviled campaigned for attention. The truth outs. You are TRUTH and one of the finest people/Pastors I know. John, my withered hand is the fact that I was paralyzed in a riding accident some 8 years ago. I am very sad every day still, bitter and resentful. Your current journey sounds as challenging as is mine. Please know how inspired I am by this journey through the ashes we are sharing together now. Many believe you, I do. I did before you said anything. Maybe God sent you this challenge to help people like me. It’s working.

Ever since I found Dallas Willards talks on TH-cam I have been captivated by what I see and hear. The times when you two hang out for coffee are special to watch. Seeing you share your heart like this enlarged my Christian fellowship. Thanks for sharing. This was a while ago and I hope everything has been dealt with.
I’m so sorry for the crazy things you have to go through. Perhaps it will encourage you to know that Dallas’s work and then your work with him and then your work after him have been the most significant teachings and the most encouraging relationship in my life over the last 3 years. He so obviously loved you and I think he appreciated the new language you could use to describe the well worn thoughts he wanted to keep fresh. You have both helped me immensely. You don’t know me, but I am your friend.
John your books have touched me so deeply. An just recently I have started watching/listening to your sermons. I’m thinking I may need to go back to AA. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. His will carry me through.

John, I saw this video for the first time today. I confess I haven't listen to much of your ministry, but have thought and prayed for you and Nancy often. I don't know if you remember us, because there were so many to remember at Menlo. We are in Bend, Oregon. We attend the Nativity Lutheran Church in Bend. And it is an ELCA church. But our pastor is a Godly man who I have fallen in love with along with the Church. Right now, we are all walking through the shadow of the evil and death of all the mass shootings in Texas. Your message on this video seems so appropriate. It harmonizes with some of the readings I'm having out of the classic, Abiding In Christ by Andrew Murray. I see the pain in your eyes that I'd never seen in the past. Out of pain comes depth of understanding. We will continue to hold you and Nancy in prayer. Thank you John for sharing. The world is full of evil and unjust - even proclaimed Christians. Some of us have been in your position too. What you shared, has resonated in our hearts. I believe God knows what is going on and he is trying to see how we who love him would react and when we do well, we shall overcome this through him! You will get through this! Hello Pastor John it gives me so much joy to listen to you again even in these moments that were difficult for you and your family I want to share with you that I and my children listened to it every Sunday at Menlo Church and that God has used it greatly speaking to my life and my growth spiritual when more I felt defeated you prayed for me and my children and you transmitted peace and strength and trust in God, I want you to know that you are a true servant of God and that you have always transmitted the love and passion for the Lord that although I Sometimes it was hard to understand everything through my language but still I could feel and understand the love of God through you God bless you and I know that the victory is already ours in Christ Jesus and that what God began in you will take you to the end of A glorious way because I faithfully believe what He says that for those of us who love God all things work for good. I have had huge respect for Dallas Willard for so many years. It gives me great joy that you want to preserve his life and the way he communicated Jesus.
I also respect you for having the courage to continue in a public life even though you have experienced the pain of a child making decisions that are difficult for you to face. You give courage to those of us who are not public but have children who have made difficult choices.

Oh! John, how my heart hurts for you. Please know that I and so many others believe in you and your faithfulness that God has placed in you. I was there at that church from just after it started. I don’t believe Jesus ever told us to wallow in the past or let others drag us there but instead to go and teach the Gospel. You are His treasure and to me and many others as well. Onward, dear brother, in His peace. You are heard and you are loved.

I’m am so glad you talk about the importance of emotions!! Sadly, growing up in church emotions were not counted as important or even good. How crazy is that. Anyway, God gave us feelings and emotions and they can be really good.

Thank you for sharing, I only saw this message today, 2 years later. I am grateful you had humility to talk openly about it, many of us have been accused falsely even by well-meaning fellow believer. It is heartbreaking and hurtful. Yet Romans 8:28-39 is very comforting and finding comfort in Him alone. Most often I find this happening when people are doing nothing for Him and show a mask face of morality , rather then simply trust, obey and follow. I wonder if they read the Bible properly what would they had said to God when Nehemiah was asked to eat cow dung, or Hosea was asked to marry a prostitute. God bless you for your honest sharing with the world, yet ultimately what is important is how He sees you and He is more then capable to keep you. Faithfulness is one day at the time, and in difficult times, one step at the time. Mathew 6:33
I just found this and I want you to know that I've been praying for you and Bill Hybels also. After reading probably every book you've written, I believe in what God has done in you and also in Bill. It hurts to see the pain that you've experienced. I can say with confidence that me and I imagine thousands of people love you. Over the last 6 months or so I've lost track of you but finally found you when I received a notice on Facebook about your Advent videos. If I can help in any way please let me know.
