  • We leave Scarborough and make the first ocean trip of the journey to Mooloolaba.
We cruise extensively along the East Australian Coast on our 13 meter catamaran. Join us as we explore new cruising grounds, cross bars, fix all kinds of problems, ride out rough weather and live aboard for extended periods.
We even have a playlist that gets us on other peoples boats.
We hope that our videos encourage others to get on board and experience this fantastic lifestyle.

Mooloolaba looks to be a good boatie haven. Lots of dinghy sailers to encourage the young people and clear warm water. Cheers Norm!

Yep good spot dude. The sailing club used to be a fair bit stronger, but it looks like they still have a bit going on.

Well Norm, there’s that camera shy crew member you told us about! When do you think she will introduce herself to us? One question about many of the anchorages you visit, why are they so far inside the bar?

Not sure Edward, she doesn't like the spotlight very much. I guess the anchorages are where the population is. Some are a little way up river.
      Cheers dude.

Hey norm we heading away for 16 days and first stop is mooloolaba for 6 nights to explore the town by scooter 🛴, if we get caught with weather is the pond safe to anchor in , I’ve never done it and Hurd holding is shit , I know once we leave mooloolaba marina this time of year we won’t get a berth again but figure if we have to the pond may be a fun option , chown

      Hi Richard.
The Duck Pond is OK in most conditions, but over 30 kts, you'd want to watch for dragging. There is a public pontoon just down river from The Wharf. There is water available and you could tie up there to ride out a blow. There are a couple of pontoons on the boat ramp near VMR too.
      Cheers dude.

Lift your dinghy at night. Probably pretty safe, but some cruisers found theirs heading away courtesy of the local pilferers. Then there's the MSB watchdog. Those folks paid millions for their water views and don't want freeloaders cluttering things up.

@@philgray1023 on the contrary … as a river front resident (& boat owner) in mooloolaba - the concerns are not with visitors .., indeed we would welcome more space for more visitors, the issue that “we” and many have …. is the “derelict” boats that are left contnuously at anchor in the duck pond, without anchor lights, blocking the “channels”, rotting away, never used, and periodicaly they break free and then bang into our boats, pontoons and fellow cruisers … they are poorly maintained and just take up valuable space for genuine visitors/cruisers …. yes we have an issue with the “freeloaders” … the ones that just “dump” their boats on anchor “year round”….. but certainly no issue with visitors … we want more cruisers to be able to visit and enjoy Mooloolaba
