kenneth john Ramos no its not, and also not Ikea’s or Sonos’ fault, as this is something from Spotify. Also, you should pay for music you pirate! Nothing in life is free. Get over it or go home.
The possible reason why the bass was more overpowering is because it was on your wooden desk which act as a sounding board. A question is it better than the speaker lamp thingy. I do like your reviews, as you mix a hint of humour.
I have a pair of gen 2s set up for my rear surrounds to my Sonos beam 2 and I have no complaints. About to buy another two or three to use around the house.
How these IKEA speakers compare to the Marshall bluetooth ones soundwise? Is the IKEA/SONOS speakerlamp worth it when I already have a Marshall BT-speaker? Thanks for these great reviews.
Love your reviews. I bought 2 of these to pair with 2 Sonos alexa and a beam and they work great! i am going to mount them with the brackets as well. for the price, you can't beat it - I agree! thanks for the informative and entertaining reviews!
I am embedded in the Sonos Ecosystem with two plays and a beam, I got an Amazon studio for accesst o high def music (sicne they are working to make it available from producers on msuic prime from original masters) and discovered that the Amazon studio after its intiial configuration is self tuning and not walking around waving my phone. This is something Sonos needs to implement. The Echo studio is also fairly rich in its bases aswell. Also, don't forget its tuned for the entire room so I would expect stronger bass since it is looking at filling the room not for people sitting one foot away from it.
Hey there. You made a great and interesting review of that great speaker. Thank you from someone who actually works at Ikea and is selling that device every day dozens of times 😊 All the best from Germany.
Hey Stu. Great review on both Eneby and this one. Is nice to see someone interested in the sound quality details more than the design part of it. But this left me one question: considering the sound quality/features for the price, which one is worth buying: the eneby or this one? (and, btw, does this one works without an wi-fi connection?) Thanks for your kind help, an keep up the good work!
Sorry silly question..but would this work with an android phone..you talk of air play, isn't that apple mac?... its an age thing haha.trying to keep up with the times...want to use the sound for TH-cam and Netflix mainly
I have no other Sonos stuff in my house. I want to listen to music in my living room via my phone and my tv. Should I get this or The Eneby? I like both their looks (although I like the look of the Eneby a bit more for it fits so perfectly in my Kallax).
@@Pawrody i know, which is why I added the information that I have no other Sonos. I wonder if the quality of one of the two is better than the other, on its own. Thanks for answering tho :)
How do you connect the TV to the speakers... Would one need to purchase the sonus hub?.. As the only physical connection on back of speaker is nic port
I would rather have the light/Speaker than this. It sounded like it was slightly distorting.....I can’t see it as a shelf....a bit daft looking. Just came across this channel by accident....very good will subscribe
Just setup a pair. Main job will be satellite speakers for a Base. A quick music test sounds ace. However I've also got an original Sonos 5 in the same room. Wow. That was tremendous creating a group with the 5 and this pair. Then add the Base.... jeeez. Luckily this room isn't attached to my neighbour!! Shame when you add as satellites then the standard room speaker configuration is removed. Was hoping you could switch between the config easily.
Have bought 3 speakers so 1 pair = stereo, sounds even better. I own a good couple of good B&W’s so there is no comparison but for its price these speakers raise the bar. Interesting for me was you can listen to music in every room with electricity and give each room its own sound. It works very good and is easy to install. Like he said, very good speaker and that bas can be changed in the Sonos app. When I got to Ikea these speakers flew out of the door ... Crazy! When I went home a full pallet was gone so I guess the product is a success 👍
bert smith There is a L & R channel. You can even use them as back speakers in a surround system/home theatre system (eg Sonos Beam). Don’t know the exact link but you can find more info and Ikea example videos if you Google How to use Symfonisk.
bert smith You made a good point! The Sonos app and their support are pretty good so I do think they know they have/want to uphold a certain quality. The collaboration between Ikea & Sonos is well thought out imho.
Ey Stu, the speakers aren’t out yet in Romania, but i can’t decide for which one i should go: lamp or stand ? Which one brings the better sound quality?
Can you please do a comparison video between this and the Lamp speaker? I’ve seen some reviews say the lamp sounds better but your video sounds like the bookshelf is really good. £200 for a pair is a bargain for Sonos!
Nice video :) I had a good listen in store, personally I didn't like the sound profile, maybe as you say.?you can turn down the bass considerably, as I could clearly hear intermodulation distortion in vocals with that heavy bass actually distorting... not for me. I might take a look at the eq options though. Thanks :)
Ah yes, I believe that's an honest mistake by the store employees who sold it to you, as the rubber anti-slip mat actually comes with the wall mount kit, for a tenner it's yours in either black or white... black: www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/symfonisk-speaker-wall-bracket-black-10438171/ white: www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/symfonisk-speaker-wall-bracket-white-10460930/ the reason why they may have said so is because at launch the information employees received themselves about the range was scarce at best. hope this helps. ;-)
Back when I was doing my audiophile thing in the mid nineties, a bookshelf speaker was a speaker that would fit on a bookshelf. Fast forward a quarter of a century and Ikea have completely misinterpreted the meaning. I’d never use a speaker as a shelf, it seems like such a bad idea.
As I said in the lamp speaker review, it was a total waste of 100 euros for me. I returned mine. Ikea's eneby is better in terms of conectivity. You cant stream Spotify unless you have a premium subscription, you cant stream youtube if you dont have TH-cam music subscription, you cant pair it with your tv/phone/tablet as it has no bluetooth. It is not even detected as a wifi speaker by my samsung tv as others speakers do. In my situation of a non premium app user, i can only stream the music i have in my smartphone storage trough the sonos music player... And who has all the music in their smartphone? And google assistant functionality is not supported yet in my country (Portugal)... Id trade it for an eneby right away... And yes the bass is kicking a bit loud out of the box, i didnt even care to adjust, just went back to the store and returned it...
Sonos aims itself to markets where people pay for the music services and where people do have their music in these music services. Of course Sonos speakers aren't something you'd want if you're not in their targeted market.
You are not really a music person anyway if you don't pay as you get a very limited service on the free version.... Spotify is only 9.99 a month and great value at that
thanks! this is a pretty basic piece of information to not mention in a review. more basic than whether i can put my wine on something that vibrates, though i do appreciate the humor
HELLO I'M BACK FROM ALMOST GETTING HIT BY A NORTHERN LINE TRAIN and dang ITTTTTTT i'm second yay i suck at being early i wanted some chicken bu what i got instead is almost getting hit by a train
Regardless of how good or bad a speaker is and let’s be honest anything from ikea is over priced and shit, the app that runs the sonos system is just as shit so they should go together like a match made in heaven! I knew sonos put £££’s before quality but I never thought they would sink ikea low!
*FOR ALL THOSE WONDERING WHAT THE SONGS IN THE SPEAKER TEST ARE* - all of them are by OOYY.
Now hit that subscribe button... 💚
see my comment below about the anti-slip mat. love, dave, netherlands.
You cannot use spotify unless your a premium user which is stupid
kenneth john Ramos no its not, and also not Ikea’s or Sonos’ fault, as this is something from Spotify. Also, you should pay for music you pirate! Nothing in life is free. Get over it or go home.
0:40 Am I the only one hearing Jeremy Clarkson, talking about a speaker? The tone, pace. I love it! =)
Ehhhh, kind of. But not really. I think closer to James May :D
The rubber mat comes with the wallmounting fixture in a separate purchase
The possible reason why the bass was more overpowering is because it was on your wooden desk which act as a sounding board. A question is it better than the speaker lamp thingy. I do like your reviews, as you mix a hint of humour.
I’m receiving two black ones delivered tomorrow. Going to use mine as rear surround speakers for my Sonos Beam soundbar.
I'd rather have the bass overpowered than underpowered, you can always turn it down in he equalisation
Don't forget this is tuned to the room as wa whole as well not someone sitting a foot away form it.
How does it compare in audio quality to the regular Sonos range and price comparisons?
Please do a more extensive comparison with this and the Eneby 30. I'd love to see what you think. Thanks.
I have a pair of gen 2s set up for my rear surrounds to my Sonos beam 2 and I have no complaints. About to buy another two or three to use around the house.
First time I see your reviews. I am a fan!
How these IKEA speakers compare to the Marshall bluetooth ones soundwise? Is the IKEA/SONOS speakerlamp worth it when I already have a Marshall BT-speaker? Thanks for these great reviews.
If you close your eyes he sounds like Jeremey Clarkson with a slight cold 💀
I was thinking exactly the same thing when I was watching the video

Question, can I put my iMac 27” on top. Probably not
Is there a way you can connect the speakers to a vinyl player and how do you link the 2 speakers to the vinyl player

Nicole Boston hi. That’s cool, in which one?

Thanks 😁👍
Very good review!!!
Thanks Lisette👍
Excellent in-depth review. Good job!
What's the song at 0:39? Cant find it anywhere..
Will this work with the beam for surround sound system?
Yes, it does
Bradley Thorburn yep it does indeed
Sorry silly question..but would this work with an android phone..you talk of air play, isn't that apple mac?... its an age thing haha.trying to keep up with the times...want to use the sound for TH-cam and Netflix mainly
hey guys is there any way to use this on a pc/tv for any audio with some kind of adaptor?
Do you have to play music through the phone? I like when you just tell the speaker what song to play.
Now do I take back the lamp and get a stereo pair of these or keep the single lamp.
I have no other Sonos stuff in my house. I want to listen to music in my living room via my phone and my tv. Should I get this or The Eneby? I like both their looks (although I like the look of the Eneby a bit more for it fits so perfectly in my Kallax).
Robin Arthur the eneby does not work whit sonos only bt
@@Pawrody i know, which is why I added the information that I have no other Sonos. I wonder if the quality of one of the two is better than the other, on its own. Thanks for answering tho :)
If you have no other Sonos you will need the internet cable and power for the speaker. But Sonos is so good for easy use.
Is this the Amazfit GTR on your wrist? :D
No! Haven’t been able to get hold of one yet 🥺😢
What is that speaker in the background on the bookshelf? Do you have the manufacturer/model? Thank you.
Steepletone. Check out my video on retro amazon Alexa...
Could you pair two up and use them as tv speakers? I’ve got a Yamaha sound bar at the moment but need some more “kick”!
yes
however, yamaha is a separate product, you will need a sonos playbar, base or such
You can with a Sonos Soundbar or AppleTV through Apple AirPlay.
I’ve had a listen to a Sonos playbar and wasn’t too impressed without a sub added, but the price is mental. I need it to link up to a sky box too.

So if it is a 'sonos' speaker can you tune it with trueplay?
I’m in love with your bookshelf
Love those Bunnahabhain 12 bottles on the shelf by the way.
Slainté!
Nice, I suspect this has the internals of the now discontinued Sonos Play:3, which is an excellent speaker.
It supports 3 kilos
Can you compare the sound performance with the MI soundbar. Im deciding which one to get. Thanks!
3:49 it sounds like someone shooting a laser gun WITHOUT EVEN STOPPING
Nice review of the IKEA shelf speaker.
Can anyone mention what exactly are the Ethernet ports for ? Connect to the network for what !!? When I can use Bluetooth to connect my devices
Would you pick these or the ediefer R1280DB?
These.
Really nice, this channel - I see a Jeremy Clarkson resemblance on the way of speaking - I like that! :)
Great video- what would be the benefit of using the RJ45 over WiFi?
The connection will be more stable if you use an ethernet cable.
Great speakers. I got two of them.
@Ronja Lenita Wingsternes Svarstad yes for stereo

Stu’s Reviews Fantastic!! Will do sir.
Thanks for this video! I really like this thing and I absolutely would like it at home! And the sound quality seems to be really good!😍
If you could only choose one...
Would you get a pair of these bookshelf speakers, or one of the lamp speakers?
You’ll have to wait for next weeks episode 👀
Stu, pls review the eMicro One electric scooter! it's small and it's the only one that can be taken on a plane!
Nice video :) I had a good listen in store, personally I didn't like the sound profile, maybe as you say.?you can turn down the bass considerably, as I could clearly hear intermodulation distortion in vocals with that heavy bass actually distorting... not for me. Yeah like I said- out of the box it’s not so good, would need playing with the EQ to optimise 👍
Brilliant be interesting to hear these next to the sonos 1s i think that's where the speakers are from.
I’m listening the video on this speaker
Davide Fasoli how?
What do you think of it?
marksapollo the same, very good for the price. I will buy another one for the same room to create a more immersive audio experience
Davide Fasoli i like that idea hope it works great out for you!

Does the SYMFONISK table lamp sound better?
I just checked the instructions “Do not place fragile objects, lit candles or liquids on top of the speaker.” :)
Who reads instructions these days... 😜. And who doesn’t put there morning brew on the bedside table! 🥴☕️
8:24 dat reaction LOL
thats how i was like in ikea thinking where is this speaker its not this little thing
Where's the Lagavulin? 😧
Probably ran out at that point... it’s my favourite so doesn’t last long!
open the speaker and check the inside

Haha...ikea dont include a lot of things...they make money on extras - such as the mounts are all separate
