South Mineral Campground, Colorado

This is a picturesque Colorado campground located in the San Juan National Forest near the Historic town of Silverton. This is an ideal location to camp if hiking the Ice Lake or Clear Lake Trail, exploring the mining history in and around Silverton, or experiencing the Million Dollar Highway.
The campground is very popular, so get here early to find a site. From mid-May thru September, there is a host on location selling bundles of wood, water is turned on, bathrooms unlocked & cleaned, and there is trash pickup. There is no electricity hookups or cell signal. If camping during the off-season, all water is turned off, bathrooms are locked, and there is no garage pickup, so take you trash and waste with you.

Beautiful! Even $17.00 a day is a little rich for me. I like to stay at a place for 10-14_days and that adds up quickly on my limited SS. Besides, i have to feed the Mule. He gets grumpy when I'm late with his grub. Thanks for another top notch vid.

🤣 Yeah, CO camping is getting expensive, but I’d say a top tier location! Luckily there’s a lot of free camping off the same road on the way to the campground! 🏕️

Wow......$34 a night. When I first started going to South Mineral it was around $9 a night. Site 5 is my favorite.

How early is ideal to camp on a Friday?

I would get there probably by 9. Talk to the host and they should be able to tell you which sites are opening up
