    Bowmans fluid rhythm is spectacular, especially at the catch. Perfect sweeping motion as it latches onto the water.

    I love watching short rowers a tall rowers row in the same boat. Those little guys have to get so much lay back!

    The only thing I'm qualified to mention is 7 seat pulling his body forward at the finish.

    I'd take Rob Gibson in my boat any day.

  • @srsly101
    @srsly101 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    actually, i think you'll find it just looks like that because his body swing isnt as exagerated as the others, he sits more upright and as such his bodies over goes quicker, doesnt look to me like he's early on the slide at all, and i doubt he'd be allowed in the boat, never mind the 7 seat, if he made it slower.

  • @9800nathan

    There are technical issues in the boat - but I think the mark of a good critic is being able to give feedback that is conducive to athletic development rather than suggesting that the athlete is being carried by the crew. Personally, I think Rob accelerates the handle into the finish very well. If he's early maybe Spracky might want to try a rig switch to load him up a bit. However this point is moot since this is a super old video.
    Anyway, congrats on the silver medal man.

    It's not about hating. Almost nobody has your power, it's impressive and I respect you your work ethic. Let's just say I wouldn't be insulted if someone said to me 'you row alright but don't have enough power'. To me, that's not so different from 'you could row better but you're very strong'. Anyway! I thought it was a point of pride how Mike's eights don't look pretty but still win races... Win win, no?

    Hey 'limegreenspeed' & 'superfroth69' (sweet names...) All I have to say to you is haters are gonna hate. I appreciate your 'constructive criticism' but really, nobody cares what you think because nobody knows who you are. Im Rob Gibson and I'll be representing my country at the 2012 Olympics.

    7 seat is early on the slide and early at the finish, easily noticed with boat speed.

    • @renaissancemen1
      @renaissancemen1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      James Walsh you are correct, however for the wrong reason. He is destroying the stroke man with his leg drive. He is stroking the boat from the seven seat. It becomes more apparent toward the end of the video when they are sprinting and it becomes a more all out power piece. He just destroyed the strokes leg drive.

    @dointhedeed1 if he fixed his techinque the boat would go so much faster. it isnt him thats winning the races, its the crew. Good, he pulls good ergos, but if he cant apply it into the water efficiently then whats the point of having good power. yes he may be an amazing rower but theres no doubt he could be even better if he perfected his technique. you may not think it but those 1% changes that can be applyed will make the boat go much faster.
